  1. Any thoughts about the DP7's artificial horizon?
  2. This week I'm taking delivery of the new Mo-Sys 3-axis gyrostabilized head. The Mo-Sys guys have some really great products and designs, but their marketing needs some love. I was hoping to hear that my head was actually there on display, as I've been waiting for it since February! Hopefully good things come to those who wait...
  3. Did anyone check out the new Mo-Sys Exim gyrostabilized head?
  4. I worked with an Octacopter last week. Same exact gimbal as the Movi. The technician was really good. But he brought his own camera/lens, which he spent hours balancing the night before. I asked him about doing a lens change. He said roughly 45 minutes to rebalance and test, depending on the lens. Then he handed me the camera controller, which was an RC radio, for pan and tilt. This is the same controller as the Movi. It was useless. The joysticks were like on/off switches. No feathering at all (to be fair this was my first time operating with one of these). So we kept the camera moves to a minimum, and let the flight path follow the action. There are going to be 100 horrendous Movi shots for every good one. There will be 100 wasted hours on set with a Movi for every productive one.
  5. Yes, but it's local pickup only, too big to ship. I'm in Richmond, VA

  7. Update: I spoke to MK-V, and they can update the sled to the current Alpha electronics (new D Box, J Box, and post cable) for $1750 with trade in of the older pieces. That gives you the latest power connections and full HD capability.
  8. Still available, willing to separate everything as long as I sell the sled first. Reasonable offers welcome!
  9. Bump, now accepting offers for either the whole package or the sled only. Start the year with a great new rig! Max
  10. I've received a lot of inquiries about my asking price. It's $27,500 for everything, $19,000 for the sled which includes all cables, monitor, brackets, plates, etc. I would have to sell the sled before I sell any other pieces. Thanks, Max
  11. Finally got some pictures up, sorry for the delay: http://s116.photobucket.com/albums/o6/maxxfish/Steadicam/

  16. Just revisiting this topic in the ever-changing world of technology! Now that the Ipod video is out, does it look like there will be any adapters for making it work as an on-board recorder? I'd love to have only one device for both work (as an on board recorder) and play (as an MP3 player), would the Archos 500 be better? Max
  17. I hope everyone is well, haven't been on the forum for a while. I've been getting more and more calls for steadicam jobs with Mini DV cameras (Grrr!). I don't want to try to rig my MK-V Nexus with a weight cage for all of these jobs, so I've decided to try to build a little sled with my spare 3A gimbal. Does anyone know what/where to get as a 1.5" post? I tried conduit and plumbing pipe at Home Depot, but they didn't have the correct diameter. TIA, Max
  18. Also, unlike the earlier cameras, mine has adjustable pitch control. Max
  19. Sebastian, The Aaton 35-3 has a reputation of being a loud sync-sound camera. It's no Compact, but I have shot 2 features and countless commercials with it, and not had any issues. I believe it's rated at 31db, and the package also includes an Aaton leather barney. Thanks, Max.
  20. I am forced to sell this camera package to make room for some new gear. A perfect Steadicam owner/operators camera! I know I have advertised it before, but this time I REALLY need to sell it, and NO reasonable offer will be refused. Here's the list: Aaton 35-3 body: PL mount, regular/super 35 switchable, adjustable shutter, adjustable pitch, Aatonite glowing framelines. 4-400' magazines with throat covers Aaton B&W CD video assist with 2 power cables Extension eyepiece with heater (there's also a heater for standard eyepiece) 3 on-board batteries with Abel fast charger handgrip with on/off switch 2- short rods, 2-long rods 3-piece leather barney Tools, spare cables, fuses, manual, etc. 2- white A&J cases The camera is currently up at Abel Cinetech in New York, where it was just serviced. I can make arrangements to show it. It's ready to go! I'll repeat, NO REASONABLE OFFER REFUSED! Serious buyers only, please. Max Fischer maxxfish@aol.com 804-675-2635
