  1. A workshop really is a must. A huge part of our job is based around problem solving whether it be rig setups with a new type of camera or simply how to achieve the shot that the director has envisaged. It's not just about the ability to move a big rig. A workshop will fill in a lot of the gaps to get you started. The rest is learnt on the job through experience.
  2. David we had a Silver workshop in Wellington in June and there was a Gold workshop in Australia not that long ago so they happen. I suggest getting in touch with a local op and just hanging out with him to learn as much as possible. What city are you in. Feel free to give me a call and maybe I can point you in the right direction.
  3. My regular live setup. Grass Valley LDK w/ Gigawave HD-Link OX system mounted on my stripped down MK-V Evolution or Nexus or Lite depending on what I have hired out where at any given time. Full telemetry with a 1-2 frame delay which requires the soundie to kick in delay on his wireless mics when I have a presenter or interview come to air on screen but that is just a push of a button on his desk after setting up a lip sync at the start of the day. I use a Libec LC9Pro zoom demand with a modified soft cable and my own home built tally to transmit to a receiver above my monitor off a light sensor on the handle tally led. Beautifully lightweight system which is extremely robust signal wise with a rock solid signal many hundreds of metres from the reciever. I regularly use this in live situations with up to 16 cameras operation with up to 8 wireless cameras in the mix. The company I work for is heavily invested in wireless camera technology owning approximately 30 of these systems. Feel free to pm me and pick my brain as I am senior cam for them and use these cameras daily. Cheers, Martin
  4. You probably need to speak to Ed Oates on this forum. I suspect this is what you are looking for. http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showtopic=18417&hl=brushless
  5. Will it fit in a Movi while mounted on a steadicam?
  6. Well once again bringing my frustration into the public arena brought them out of the woodwork. They claim that it shipped out early last week but the tracking information shows that it was requested for pick up this weekend. I simply replied that I'll believe it when I see it and that maybe it would be a better business practice if they stop selling items that they never had.
  7. Can someone please tell me how Cinetronic can be advertising another 7" Gen1 for sale and in stock on Film Stuff when they still haven't delivered mine that I bought 12 weeks ago at Cinegear whilst standing right in front of Chris and talking through it with him? I've been quite patient with the zero communication but am getting seriously annoyed about this now. Beware "in stock" doesn't mean that at all! I guess it's easy to fob off someone because they can't just turn up on your doorstep when in another country Chris?
  8. Well I actually received a response to my email this morning. Still no promise of a monitor but at least I'm not just being ignored now and my concerns that I had pissed my money away into the wind have been somewhat if not completely alleviated. I have ended up missing my deadline for my hd upgrades for the new season here as a result of all of this. (The sole purpose for my trip around the world at the time of Cinegear was to visit the various manufacturers and get upgraded to HD) Not an easy task when you own 6 rigs. Anyway Chris has been in contact, (thank you social media) and we'll see what happens next.
  9. Just a reply to my emails or phone calls would be nice. Sick of trying to talk to a black hole.
  10. I have been resisting doing this but if anyone knows why Cinetronic no longer answer emails, phonecalls or deliver refurbished Gen1 monitors listed as in stock and paid for online while standing talking to Chris Bangma at Cinegear could they please get in touch. I have sent multiple emails over the last couple of weeks and get nothing but an answer machine when I phone with no response. I have already cancelled my monitor bracket order as I found one elsewhere that was actually prepared to respond to their customer and ship the product that I paid for. Looks like I'll be looking for a refund on the monitor next. I would have thought that a young start up company like Cinetronic would be doing their best to respond to their customers in order to establish themselves in the marketplace. Particularly when this community is so small and yet so strong with very few secrets and reputations are created and destroyed so quickly in the information age. This may sound harsh but I am sick of being stonewalled and would simply appreciate the coutesy of a reply.
  11. I wonder if the Axis1 could have pulled it off. Fastest system I've seen.
  12. Hi guys, Looking for a basic docking bracket to suit a 1.5" Pro post/docking ring. Doesn't have to be pretty just functional. Let me know what is out there. Cheers, martin@adrenochrome.co.nz
  13. If Go Pro aren't interested in the professional market why did they spend so much time and money marketing themselves at a professional expo like Cinegear, NAB etc. According to you Eric it's a complete waste of money
  14. I know Pete was very keen to test it in your specific environment. I'll always give credit to someone who is prepared to go the extra mile to make his product better and not just sit back and say it's good enough and that is certainly the impression I get from Peter. I'll be very keen to see the results.
  15. Time to say goodbye to my Bartechs and upgrade. And I do mean upgrade to this.
  16. I heard he was losing money hand over fist as what profit he wasn't drinking he was throwing at the employees
  17. Michelle, James has beaten me to it but I can only reiterate what he has said and thank you so much for the warmest of hospitality to the crazy Kiwi. You, Jack and Tom were just unbelievable. Thank you and I will speak to you again very soon.
  18. I'm not sure where you are based but try and get along to an event like Cinegear or the stabiliser expo and try the various types of equipment out for yourself. What works for one person might not be right for you. It is all about personal preference and what works best for you in the market that you are based. Form your own opinions because you're not going to get anyone agreeing on what is best for you here.
  19. I built this rig for a friend of mine who was looking to get into sports coverage initially so wanted something lightweight for running the sidelines but also wanted the ability to spec it up for film work when neccessary. Unfortunately soon afterwards his wife was transferred to another country so I was left holding a rig I didn't really want or need. I had the based rewired and a custom cap machined to allow this to be used with the MK-V Evolution battery cage with up to 3 v-lock batteries mounted though it is wired to be able to run a 12V camera and monitor on one battery also. The machining and rewire cost me $4000 alone but also allows for the cage to be removed and 2 rods to be mounted along the bottom to support a battery and monitor for an extremely lightweight but rigid setup when using it as a running rig or flying lightweight cameras. It comes with 2 seperate interchangable posts both with the standard Pro bayonet fittings. One is a full size 2 stage post while the other is a 19" fixed length post for use with lightweight setups. There are also 2 monitor mounts. One is the standard tiltable Pro model and the other is a custom one that my friend wanted so he could use a lightweight LCD that he had with a 1/4" thread. It may be of use to someone so I'll throw it in also. The gimbal is an EFP that was upgraded to tools free by Hugo at Steadyrig and the topstage is the MK-V standard model. I'm throwing in a Transvideo Rainbow II 6.5" Super Bright monitor with the rig which is in good working condition also. All up it cost me over US$14000 to put this together for my friend and I would just like to recoup some of my money. Send me reasonable offers as it is collecting dust here. I am leaving for Cinegear and then a month around Europe on Wednesday 29th May but if someone commits to buy it and is heading to Cinegear I should be able to bring it with me for them which may help a little with shipping etc. You can either PM here or email me on martin @ adrenochrome.co.nz
  20. Gyros were only used for the tracking shots of the trailer. Everything else was on a 3A
  21. I'm not sure which paragraph of that made me cringe more.
