  10. Hello everyone..! a quick question..: shooting with a Panavision Millinium XL for the first time on monday.. And since we dont have any panavision cameras in Scandinavia ( to my knowledge ) I will be getting a camera from london.. I believe they will be making a cable for my pro-rig.. but just in case... do any of you know what type of power-plug is on the XL..? I heard rumors that you can use a Arri 535/435 powercable and "just" switch the polarity... but..well you know... All the best Flemming Laybourn
  11. Hi there! I have a modulus 300, never really used it, think I also have one of those CIT "ufo-antennas" and a old Sony tuner... all the best Flemming Laybourn / Denmark
  12. As a former Mk-V owner ( now PRO... yes..! ) I feel that I have a few remarks that will help me mentally in the years to come... - I have owned a Master, Mk-V and now a Pro. During the time I had my Mk-V I changed my gimbal ( V2 ) 4! times. The problem was the precision of the bearing. After balancing my rig I would swing it a 180´ and it would.... Loose the balance / tilt to one side... I adressed this problem with howard, And was told that it probably had to do with placement on the rig ( camera, batteries, monitor, ect ) I moved everything.. and I mean EVERYTHING around... the problem was still the same... New gimbal, same problem, new gimbal.. same problem... I went to an engineer, we measured and measured, and his conclusion was that the enlignment of the axis wasn´t precise enough... :-( At this point may ,I comment, I had with my latest V2 gimbal also recieved a handheld note from Howard saying: Hi flemming please refer your problems to me and not the Steadicam forum..... ( I still have the note as a reminder...) To be fair I got some of the earlier versions of the V2.... but on the other hand.. it didnt come cheap... Im not trying to "get at Howard" (which seems the case for a few people in here). My point is that this is an expensive industry, you will not own that many rigs in your career. the choices you make are important, and the more input you can get from colleagues the better. Was I happy with the Master...? nja.. I didnt know better at the time.... And the Mk-V..? yes to some extend.. but the support was not what I had hoped for. and (in my case ) the quality of engineering was not good enough. Im not saying that there are not a lot of happy MK-V owners out there ( the guy who bought mine is happy :-) All im saying is that we all have individual experiences with people and equipment. And we should be able to discuss them freely in here. After all we put a lot of money into some carbonfibre, bearings and a 4´green screen monitor... :-) I have now found the love of my life in the PRO, and it seems like a good solid relationship that will last many years.... This is what I had to say, I will not be answering to any replies, not really interested in keeping the fight going, just needed to give my version. And thanx for reading it. All the best! Flemming Laybourn / Denmark

  15. :-) Sorry for the pacement of my post... nice to see that there is a quick responstime in here.. :-) about the delay.....? I read your post, and im not sure... have you tried the system...? I can only speak from personal experience, and they are only good. as I said, The director was told about the 12frame delay, we discussed it, and started working... And it works like a charm... after one rehearsal you know the "rythm" of the scene, and its easy to cue actors 12 frames in advanced.. ( especially if you have a videolink that accually enables the director to see what is going on... ;-) I have no doubt that this type of system will be the standard in a few years. I am the proud owner of a Modulus 3000 and a very nice 2.4ghz system from Marell ( UK ) But im selling my modulus asap. But will be keeping my Marell system for when sync is needed ( 2 cameras, live broadcast...ect ) Best regards Flemming "12 frame" Laybourn
  16. Hello fellow operators..! I have only 2 words for you: Buy "the boxx" ( I guess that was 3 really... :-) After hearing rumours about the system her on the forum, I contacted the company and arranged a demo in London. I went over, meet Scott ( 33% of the company ) ran around for a few minutes and was impressed. I got my own system 2 weeks ago, and went straight on to a feature that has turned out to be 100% steadicam. Here is my experience so far..... I f...... love it. ( sorry about the dirty dots ) After 2 weeks of shooting we have had 1(!) drop-out where the picture froze... ( I went into a house, 2 floors up, and into a flat........) There will be no going back for me, ever again. the thrill of not having the director go " looked fine, but I lost the picture half-way through the shot.." ever again, it worth the price... ( which by the way isn´t so bad compaired to other systems..) I was a bit worried about the 12frame delay, and read alot of posts in here stating that this was a big isssue.. But to any worried "hmm im also thinking about gettting that system"- operators I can only say, don´t worry.. its not a problem. I got a shark from Behringer.com that delays the listening for the director and script girl. And after working for about a day, the director had "synched" with the delay. And had no problems cueing actors and extras. Anyone interested in a more detailed description or with other general questions, is welcome to contact me. Best regards Flemming Laybourn / Copenhagen-Denmark

  20. Am I the only operator using Marells Video link..? I can only say that my Modulus is collecting dust in the "back-up" flightcase.... For me it has worked perfect for 2 years know.... It is small, rigid and very stable... I dont know the price range of other systems, but I wouldn´t change for anything in the world All the best Flemming Laybourn / Denmark ps. I dont work for Marell, nor am I .... bla bla bla.....
  21. Thanks everyone for your input....! Great Forum... :-) I´m Gonna let Fred Davis Do the math for me and just operate the thing... Thanx! Flemming
  22. Hello Fellow operators..! I have recently planted an Archos on my MK-V rig... and so far I Have been using the internal battery, and charged the unit on the stand... but I would ofcourse like to be able to "breast-feed" it from the rig... I have 14.8 V (6.5 Amp) coming out and I need 5V ( 1.6 amp ) going in...... Anyone with a good link.. ? or maybe a home invention..? All the best Flemming "I sleep with my proarm" Laybourn
  23. Hello Fellow operators....! Where would I ( read : my career..) be without you... :-) Im looking for a digital playback system on my rig. Has anything happened on the market since the Archos...? ( Im finding it hard to buy it in Europe.....) All the best Flemming Laybourn Denmark
