  2. Receiving units for repair at CIT, I used to see an an excellent solution on units from CHROZIEL rental depatment. Just a lucite plate, with holes drilled out to seat each selector knob, and fastened with velcro patch to the face of the box. Easy, elegant, and cheap
  3. Having missed the house warming party, I vote "Yay" I'll certainly bring a little sum'n' sum'n'
  4. Okay, final answer. This is straight from the horse's mouth. Not to say Robert Orf @ TIFFEN is a horse, ya unnerstand,.... but you know what I'm sayng. He confirms that you have two options for 12V power appropriate for running that light. 1) The small (Size 0) 2-pin: 1=+, 2=G 2) The larger (Size 1) 4-pin under the cap at the bottom: 1=Vid shield, 2=Vid signal, 3=+12VDCD, 4=DCGrnd Both ports take current direct from the battery. As such, a 50W, 4amp draw is gonna drain 'em pretty quick. Slight correctiuon: The MOGAMI quad I usually use is 26AWG, 24AWG for the mic cable.
  5. Congratulations, compadre!
  6. My records show two, 2-pin connectors on Steadicams, both LEMOs. One small, (size 0), the other larger (size 2). The larger one is specified to power a HighSpeed base. I've not built a cable from this port to a XLR, but easily could. The smaller AUX power output is used to power Follow Focus units (BFD). Could this port handle thecurrent draw? Pin 1 = +12, pin 2=Ground. To a 4-pin XLR (1=G, 4=+12), #C60195 $75
  7. <much endorsement snipped> Ahhhh.... you guys are the best!! Thanx for the props, Mitch and Kurt. :D Michael: You specified that your sled is an SK2, correct? The 4-pin accessory output is a HIROSE connector, not a LEMO. The cable you describe is PCS item #61085, $65 at 24". I use MOGAMI multi-core cable. Evalucon brand HRS-type connectors, and the XLR's are NEUTRIK gold. What can I say? I'm queer for gear. Same day service, next day shipping if you order before 2PM PST. (Availability and turnaround time liable to change pending my workload on any given day, but I do pretty well)
  8. Okay, I just want to thank Mr. Byro for this thread. I haven't laughed so hard or been so jaw-droppingly SHOCKED since the alt.rec.flame and alt.religion.scientology wars on USENET in the 90's. I was particularly amused by his belittling Peter Abraham over an injury, and the passive/aggressive way he presented it as praise. Priceless.......
  9. GLIDECAM sez voltage from the 2-pin comes straight from the battery, so capable of current draw to 3+amps
  10. Jim, Correct me if I'm wrong, but the GLIDECAM 12V output to use for BFD power would be the size 1, 2-pin accessory out, yes? You could also use the 3-pin camera power port, but that seems like overkill and you lose that port. Just keeping up-to-date......
  11. The interface with the SONY lens is the ubiquitous HIROSE 12-pin. Alternately, some Canons have that big 8-pin. I stock both parts, and can fashion the cables, or provide pinout info for those in a DIY mood. ;)

  13. Hey, now... Thanks for the pointer, Mitch. :D ronveto, I have been making cables for several years now. As Mitch wrote, many on this forum are regular customers. Please contact me to discuss your cable needs.
