  1. Speaking of HD fibre jumper cables.....I've not come across a mobile that has them available. Any advice on who could make this particular cable? Fred Davis perhaps?

    Thanx for thinking of me, but no, I can't service fiber products. Those polishing machines are hella 'spensive.

    I can provide a mini-Triax jumper cable, 5mm jacket cable w/ KINGS connectors both ends, 6-8 ft. The popular solution seems to be to mate with the rope coming from the truck, secure the connectors to yer vest, and run the 6-8 ft jumper to the camera.

    Trouble with TRIAX connrectors is they come in diffeerent sizes depending on the market. European Tri-lock connectors will not mate with N. American connectors,.........don't know why, but there U R, and I can't get the European spec parts

  2. Hello there,

    Will a Preston FF work on 12v?

    The camera is a ARRI SR2. Can I get power from the cam if not from the rig?

    You want to power the MDR, yes? contact assignment for the LEMO 4-pin = 1 = Gnd, 2 = +24, 3 = +12V

  3. ha! I plan on operating from my rickshaw till I'm about.. oh... 90.

    No sense in wearing the rig at that age.

    I've already got myself a rickhsaw driver too.. ;)

    Excellent pic! That's the way to travel.

    And I urge y'al to leave Byro alome. Sure, it's fun, but it's ultimately uncool to tease the mentally handicapped. Simply hide the car keys, Child-proof the cabinets, and avoid direct conflict where possible.

  4. Hi Fred,

    My regular DP, Shane Hurlbut is shooting it. Roberto De Angelis (from Italy) is operating this one--he and I alternate on Shane's shows.

    KEWL.

    He was on Mr & Mrs Smith Thanx. If U Speak with him, pass along the PCS phone number

  5. It was probably Dave Eastwood. I saw his name in the credits, but there may have been other steadicam operators as well.

    All fine and well, but whose wrist is that in the photo on the front of the LA Times CALENDER section??

    Curious minds wanna know.

    Eastwood's

    Kool, Arigato . Recognition where due, etc.

    Good job, Dave!

  7. Thanks for the replies, chaps

    I'll look into it, and get hold of pinouts etc and fix it for the short term, but I may be in touch soon Fred (I'll be needing some more cables for other stuff anyway)

    Cheers

    Jason

    By all means contact me soonest. My interest/curiosity is right piqued! 8-)

  8. Guys,

    I just wanted to formally Congratulate Mr. Howard Smith on winning the British Society of Cinematographers Technical Achievement Award, last night at the Associations Operators Dinner.

    He was presented with the Award by Alex Thompson BSC and Joe Dunton.

    Howard was so pleased to be recognised by the BSC for his ongoing development of the AR, although what made his evening was spending time chatting with Ray Harryhausen.

    So, again, Well Done man!

    And I Look forward to some wicked shots!

    Best...Chris

    :)

    Out STANDING!

    ongrats to Howard!

  9. As I ve had already apologized to Fred for the confusion , The zoom controller pot is from an external zoom controller that connects with a cable to the tajimi connector under the cannon lense.

    I have shorted E, and F possition on the tajimi connector that they appier to be the camera start on off.

    All I need now is to find out where 1,2,3,4 contact points from the zoom pot connect to the A,B,C,D of the tajini connector to operate externally the zoom lense, one diagram for cannon, and one diagram for fuginon lenses.

    If anyone does have this info please help.

    Thanks in advance

    Constantine :(

    According to the fax from CANNON I just received:

    A=Zoom speed control

    B=+V1

    C=+V3

    D=+V2

    E=VTR Com(Grnd)

    F=VTR Sw

    G=Ret Com (Grnd)

    H=Ret Sw

    HTH

  10. Thanks fred but I still dont get it.

    The zoom pot has 4 contacts numbered 1,2,3,4.

    I dont know what they are or do.

    The cannon 8 pin which is probably the hirose you are describing has A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H.

    sO CAN YOU TELL ME PLEASE WHERE 1 from pot goes to which letter,2....etc.

    Um....no. The TAJIMI (not HIROSE) connector has a threaded ring at the end, and is used on CANNON as well as FUJI lenses

    I don't understand what you're asking here. I was just telling you what functions where active to the contacts on the connectors.

  11. Does anyone knows where 1,2,3,4 points on a zoom pot connect to a, A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H, CANNON lence connector for cannon lenses.

    And also the same question with the same connector for fuginon lenses?

    I know the start on off possition but I had a break down-someone riped off the cable by stepping on it - and I ergendly now need the wiring cause I use it every day?

    According to my records..............

    HIROSE 12-pin:

    1 = POT +

    2 = POT -

    4 = WIPER

    9 = VTR run

    10 = VTR run

    TAJIMI 8-pin: FUJI

    A = POT +

    B = WIPER

    C = POT -

    E = VTR run

    F = VTR run

    TAJIMI 8-pin: CANNON

    A = WIPER

    B = POT +

    C = POT -

    E = VTR run

    F = VTR run

  12. ok, i asked a manufacturer for info and like to share what i´ve got:

    435,535 und SR3 :Fischer 2pol Plug S105Z087

    12V Kameras und Videokameras: XLR 4pol. Pin1 Minus, Pin4 Plus

    somebody likes to add moviecam/panavision?

    :huh:

    thanks, robert

    Moviecam Power input connector is 4-pos XLR, Pin1=Grnd, 24V DC assignment varies depending on camera source (rental house, etc). I jumper pins 2-4.

    Panavision uses two LEMO connectors for power input. P/N# FFA3S303 and the smaller FFA1S302. Both Pin1=+24

    Pin2=Grnd

    Keep in mind that the 2-pos FISCHER on ARRI cameras is available with a lightweaight teflon case.

    P/N#SI405 Z087 C3J2R

    As always, If you're curious about the wacky world of multi-pin connectors and their applications on equipment, I invite y'all to contact me.

    Forwarned is forearmed (sic).
