  1. hello,

    does someone have cable diagrams and plug specifications for arri/moviecam/panavision and digital cameras?

    Thanks a lot,

    Robert

    I do, Always happy to help with info, but of course, I'd much rather sell yiou assembled cables. Call me greedy But DO call me ;-)

  2. Hi all,

    Quick question: Is the Modulus 2000 compatible with 24V as the 3000??

    *************************************************

    MDULUS 2000 is a 12V system. Some have been modified with a 24V upgrade, identified by a pan-head screw on the left edge of the box. 12 or 24V is active to different contacts on the HIROSE 6-pos connector. Pin 3 = 12V, pin 5 = 24V, so if yer cables are wired properly, you can't "blow it up"

    *************************************************

    So I want to use the 2000 when I'm on B, but the power cable I use from my rig can't be used on the camera, so it would have to be powered by the SRIII (24V).

    *************************************************

    Why not use the 11-pin Fischer 12V accessory port rather than the 24V RS port??

  3. I would get Fred to make you a power/video cable.

    In the meantime though.. for $19.95 this will work.

    I've been modifying the Travel Cable Kit by butt-splicing a leg to 5-pin LEMO, into a "Y" cable

    Power/video breakout.

    Klugie, but workable. Playback is comprimised due to seperate connectors used by the Archos for video in/vid out ("W" cables?! Ick!)

  4. I believe that BandPro received a hefty fine from the FCC and was forced to stop selling the Modulus.  Other than that I have not heard of anyone actually caught using it.
    Bzzzt! Incorrect, but thanx for playing our game (what do we have for them, Johnny?)8-)

    Band Pro was not fined, they were sent a letter that threatened a fine regarding their having listed the device on their web site. To my knowledge, nothing more than threatening letters have ever been FCC response. I think that the FCC has more important uses for their resources than prosecuting people for operating a device with a .5 mile range, especially a device with such widespread utility in a multi-billion dollar industry.

    IANAL, but still.......

    I always enjoyed Wolf Seeberg's catalog that pictured the Modulus in use in Baja California--even though it is illegal to use in Mexico as well!

    Extra credit: with maybe 4 vehicles in the US for triangulation/tracking, how many are in operation in Mexico? Do the math.

  5. I am disappointed Mr. Kawana has choosen to take this approach;

    ; this forum (again) is being used to 'bash manufacturers'.

    I disaree. I think Mr. Kawana is using this forum to express his disappointment over what he experienced as shoddy customer service and dishonesty. In this, he is seems not to be unique. (see Karavite post on topic "Marell Bubble")

    As for Mr. Kawana and his BENZ DIGITAL, we have said we are happy to supply him with his order (upgraded to a 3ch. handset, receiver and motors) when it is released and loan him a BENZ 5000 system in the meantime.

    Mr. Kawana clearly isn't interested in continuing with further delays and compromises rearding his order. Is it your contention that this customer is, therefor, being somehow unreasonable?

      We don't think it is appropriate to comment further about this matter on steadicamforum.com

    Hm.... If not here, where?

  6. LOL, outstanding.

    Lucas' widely commented-on turn to the Dark Side is spectaculrly illustrated by this movie.

    All spectacle, no heart.

    I was one of the teen geeks who waited hours in line to see A NEW HOPE at the one theater showing iit in OC. It has been very disappointing for me to see how Lucas has abandoned the story elements that most interested me in this mythology for the sake of cheap sensationalism and merchandising.

    Still, it has generated an amusing branch of pop slang.

    As such I can say that I found SWIII to be a steaming pile of Sith. B)

  7. I got the following e-mail from a potential client:

    >"Hi Mr. Bartech,

    >I am using an Éclair ACL with small primes such as Angenieux.

    Opinions, anyone?

    Jim "Do what to who, now?" Bartell

    My notes show that the Angenieux has a HIROSE 12-pole connector w/ this pin assignment:

    1 = 7.5................... 7 = Zoom follow

    2 = 2.5V................... 8 = N/C Focus Follow

    3 = G 0V...................9 = VTR switch

    4 = Zoom speed...................10= SW common

    5 = VR=5V ...................11= Vid Rtn Swtch

    6 = +V Camera...................12= Shot tele switch

  8. Several of my customers have had me make Y cables for this purpose. Using the onboard recorder port, and making a breakout to the ARCOS power input and an RCA for video, (This on the analog adapter for the Arcos)

    Making one cable for one of your sleds, an adapter can be made, mating with the sled's connector and adapting it to another sled's connector.

  9. The power input is a 4mm coax barrel, center pole active for power.

    Video input is standard RCA.

    I've been making Y cables for customers, from sled (ex: onboard recorder port on PRO), carrying video signal and power to the recorder. This requires an in-line voltage regulator on the power leg, stepping down the sled's voltage output to the 5V input for the recorder.

    I STILL don't know what the video output connector is; any help from owners? It is conceivable to make a W cable allowing playback to the sled, but so far no customers have wanted that.

  10. Not that I know much abotu the Modulus 3k, however, you have a termination problem by the sound of it!

    The monitor is terminating the signal but the modulus is not.  with a T peice the signal is terminated by the monitor. however without it isn't and that's why it looks too bright.

    I don't know about how the modulus deals with temination but it sounds like it's not dooing it.

    If it's selectable, than it should be set to on (when you arn't using the monitor). if it's not but should be on, then it could be borken.(sic) - Someone who knows the modulus, aswer this part please..

    Sounds to me like repair situation.
