I've enjoyed using the Wave1. I use it primarily for help with windy days when I have broad wide horizons around me. It also helps with some tricky or uncomfortable Low-Mode shots. Works great, just out of the box. I carry some old heavy brick batteries from heavier film days to counterbalance. Rock solid. Doesn't take much power. Betz manufactures by demand, so orders may take a couple months. Have fun flying, Dave www.daveisern.com

Maxima is great. My 3-axis gimble answer. Good for: -vehicle to vehicle -POVs from vehicles -lateral shooting from vehicles -3-axis gimble shots -long lens moves -remote stabilizer head for 'non-operating moves' -can be Lambda head substitute sometimes Good on: -Sandbags -EZrig with Serene arm Good for substituting when you need a safer means than Steadi -not big fan of attaching to arm Dave www.daveisern.com

The Oldest Arm in Use Today (as well as other fun stories about old gear)
Dave Isern replied to Beau Cuizon's topic in Arms
Your old arm was great Charles, I sold the arm #092 in 2013. In 2007, Robert Luna modified the post-end into a full Model 3 arm. A real workhorse that flew some of my finest work. I had it since '98 but bought a PRO arm a couple years ago. Guille Garcia from Peru bought it. Seems like he's keeping it busy. Dave Isern, soc www.daveisern.com -

Steadicam 3a Arm or similar
Dave Isern replied to Nathan Wong's topic in Steadicam Marketplace - Wanted
I have a 3a arm that will go for sale in a couple days. Are you still looking? It's getting a tune-up now from Robert Luna. The arm has an amazing history and can carry heavy 60 lbs loads. How's $5600 sound? Dave Isern, soc www.daveisern.com -
I've had a Betz top stage since 2006 and it's great! Heavy duty and practical. It should last forever. When I needed some spare parts, they got me what I needed quickly and it barely costed me anything, from Germany to New York. Hats off to them! Dave Isern, soc www.daveisern.com

Transferring Gear to an LLC
Dave Isern replied to Michael Hauer's topic in Legal / Business Practices
Get an accountant if you don't already. Your LLC can purchase all your gear from you for $1. Talk to your accountant first though. He/she will either deduct it or depreciate it. Congrats to you CEO! Dave Isern, soc www.daveisern.com Smooth Moving Productions LLC -since 1998 -
Glad I bought an EZrig awhile back. Might make the MOVI useful now and especially if it can take Alexas and regular cameras with accessories down the road. My rollerblade skillz evidently will always come in handy.........maybe even the decade of halfpipe riding. Don't worry - just get prepared. Cheerz, D www.daveisern.com

The Flyer softcase works well as a case for Klassen vests if you take the drop/sidearm off. Lightweight for shipping/flying too. Definitely durable enough. Dave Isern www.daveisern.com

Knowing both is best, of course. Goofy was frowned upon a bit in the 90's when I started. I knew it was the way for me after being a Steadicam assistant & AC for years, and through trial and error, I learned it was the best for me. Besides, I skateboarded, snowboarded, water skied, and repelled goofy. In smaller markets it can help by operating on the smart side of cameras. If it makes sense and feels much better - you're probably goofy. Fly smart - have fun! Dave Isern, soc www.daveisern.com

The new Bartech rocks - my first dozen days with it were with Primos often in the cold. Jason Bateman/Olivia Wild flick. Worked great! Don't tighten the clip-on matte box too much though. My AC buddy's a fan already. The Digital M-1's handled cold Primos without a flinch. Thanks Jim & Don! Happy Holidays, Dave Isern, soc www.daveisern.com

BFD Digital Receiver Brackets
Dave Isern replied to Louis Puli SOC's topic in Steadicam Marketplace - For Sale
nah the new Bartech Digital Receiver is way smaller and lighter, not that it was heavy/big before. Maybe 40% smaller. Dave Isern, soc www.daveisern.com
