Don from Palomar/Loon bought my FMG.6 when I purchased my 2nd motor from him a few years ago. He was going to try to take up servicing them. He's a bit preoccupied now though........... Dave Isern, soc www.daveisern.com

Student Dies After Falling of Roof With Glidecam
Dave Isern replied to Joshua Miller's topic in News, Events, Workshops
The next time I do a demo at a school I might use this as an example. Teachers don't have the forsight/knowledge to teach kids how to be safe. So be safe. Dave -
Warning, balance stud could break off.
Dave Isern replied to Jeff Muhlstock SOC's topic in General Discussion
I had a similar incident with the arm studs on the docking bracket a year ago. While wheeling around on the stand the arm stud snapped and my arm fell to the ground. Luckily my arm was fine. I don't think ops should hang their arms on the thin arm studs on any docking bracket that I'm aware of because most of them are thin and can easily snap. Just a warning..... Dave Isern -
Lowballing reaches an all-time low?
Dave Isern replied to Tom Wills's topic in Legal / Business Practices
Defferred work is silly. Just tell them you will deffer doing the work until they decide to pay u. Doesn't sound like they're worth your time unless it's very close old friend..... D -
Anybody get their new Digital M-One motor? I haven't been able to use my new BFD which I bought & received 3 months ago? The same time I purchased the new Digital M-One motor but have yet to receive. Info is low. I just keep getting the "coming next week" line..... Dave

yeah I've had people that said they've had ops steadi in copters before. My reply is that the steadicam operator must've been an idiot D

'Tis true--I'm no longer a Steadicam operator.
Dave Isern replied to Charles Papert's topic in General Discussion
Feels like an era is changing. Charles, thanks for teaching & acting as a mentor for us Steadicam Ops. You made quite an impression on me 13 years ago and I know you've given direction to many many more. Your Steadicam legacy will linger for years to come. Your vision as a DP will open our eyes to a new cinematic world.....probably visuals with great movement! Toast to you and your future - I'm sure the best is yet to come! p.s. - I think the value of your old arm just went up..... Cheers, Dave Isern, soc www.daveisern.com -
Safer & easier to just to hand the rig off to someone, apple box, etc. U can't walk away from the monopod..... Dave Isern

Use of On-board recorders
Dave Isern replied to Christopher T. Paul- SOC's topic in General Discussion
Half the time I pull my DVR out the AC's tell me, "that's great, put it away and don't tell anyone else u have it." Of course, in fear of slowing down shooting. It's always appreciated for some car mounts, etc. though. I try to use it privately though..... Dave Isern -

Looking for weight plate for 5/7D shoot?
Dave Isern replied to Jason Ellson's topic in Brackets/Widgets
What's a good weight cage/plate to buy? (for 5/7d cameras & rods) Dave Isern www.daveisern.com -
Works great. Rigid. Simple. Very adjustable for every low-mode set-ups. Deals with the different weight of LCDs opposed to CRT's. Sits well on a guitar stand when camera's off. Had mine almost 3 yrs and dig it. Best, Dave Isern www.daveisern.com

Oh wow... Patents mean nothing to anybody anymore... first MK-V takes a stab at it and now that? Still, neither works as well as the Alien did... oh well, we'll never know. That dudes gonna need better shoes! Wow, a knock off with a CP rig?!?! Wild

I don't own one, my apologies. So Kapil u should talk to someone that does own an AR. Not me. No need to waste thread space. I think it's a cool device though. If u can, why not. D
-
Kapil, My apologies. The AR is made of parts from the best manufacturers in the world. They have serviced some of my parts quickly and easily. The machine is a marvel that I wish I had in my "bag of tools." U can do sweet shots with it. It's not the best tool for everything. U might need a 'regular rig' to get through doorways at eye level. A bit heavy for some shots. Lighter than I thought though... Best, Dave
-
great machine, but....... The rates to keep an AR rig economically worthy can be tough to get when starting out..... and down the road.....? Also there's a concern about the longevity of the Vendor. Legal papers from the Vendor/manufacturer's liquidity process have been floating around. Not a good sign...... ......or a great sign for a bargain. Best Dave
