  1. Brant's VLS bracket is rocksteady! It takes a lot less time to set up then I thought it would. Screws your plate directly to handle and then holds the camera with a swing-like bottom. It's very rigid. Question to Brant: Do you think it would work on Arri 435's? Maybe with longer screwbolts? I've got the Jerry Hill bracket but your VLS Bracket would be so much faster. 2. I've done the shoeless thing a few times over the years. It's not as bad as I thought it would be. However, usually when people ask me if doing steadicam -hurts my back- I reply: "No, but my feet sometimes ache after numerous long days." Barefoot does tend to speed up foot endurance as one might expect. Barefoot operating does make you feel very ninja-like though. :) Cheers, Dave Isern www.daveisern.com
  3. Steadi gang, Used "the Red" the last two days. It's cool and light but finicky. The camera gets used to a certain amount of power tapped off of it and if it changes - the system has issues. Shuts down, refuses to output monitor, etc. Not feature or eposodic ready, but give it a little time....... Cables seem very fragile. Definitely need a HDSDI input on your monitor. I's cool though because it's light and it's a raw file image. Maybe this pic will work. /Users/daveisern/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Modified/2007/Roll 66/IMG_0315.JPG Check it out when you get a chance, Dave Isern www.daveisern.com
  4. 3-D is fun :) Jason's 3D system works great and is fun to use. Surprisingly lightweight and the 3D works sharp. I did over a halfdozen days on a few shoots with him this past summer including some spotwork I DP'd. Jason is one of the coolest geniuses I know! His newest camera coming out is a double HVX-200 model. The cameras work very easily. The cameras are also uncompressed and all specs are basically doubled. I was really impressed with the 2k image and the lattitude the picture has. I think this pic attached should come out. I'd like to try to figure out a way to make a 90 degree elbow for rods to apply lens motors to the geared handle. Anybody with suggestions? Cheers, Dave Isern www.daveisern.com
  5. Hey, I don't plug my two cents into this website often enough, but I plan on stopping by Rusty's get-together for a bit. I'm going to a Band Pro event/expo in the area earlier today. Cheers, Dave Isern www.daveisern.com
  6. Need a GPI PRO Lower Gyro Electronics Junction Box. Putting together a new rig. Thanks, Dave Isern daveisern@aol.com
  7. I'm wondering if you still have a PRO J-Box and/or D-Box? I'm in the market for both. Thanks, Dave Isern 917-913-2989 :)
  8. That same 3A continues to lift more than it's fair share. I've flown a GII and a Panastar a few times with Charles' old rig. Once with anamorphic lenses too and lotsa Low-Mode. "....and I thought BL4's weighed alot !" Luckily, I didn't do any running shots except for hustling a little bit to get the shot over and done with. I like heavier cameras sometimes because of the stablility of course, but when it comes down to it......it's all about someone trying to save a buck. Usually though flying alot of weight impresses people enough to make them want you on their team again....as long as they get a lighter camera the next time. Anyhow, that 3A is a workhorse. Shine 'em on, Dave Isern
