  1. please be advised of weasel ops undercutting commercial rates for a mere $1000, Russ was livid. Thought you all should know this. Now, let me channel this energy away from chasing down the bastard and breaking a nose or leg....
  2. Thanks James, in haste, I had mistaken the Optical Support model for Philippe's.
  3. Hey Philippe, Damn I wish I had one on my last show, our DP lit a lot through the camera also... I won't get caught out there again! Gonna place my order today. Question... is there a pin or any thing other than friction from the kip handle locking you into the horizontal home position? -Alfeo
  4. I am amazed at the quality and features of my SmallHD DP7 Pro OLED. It's a US company although most if probably made in China
  5. Hey Alan, What about going with an old standard that most people already have laying around... i.e. Modulus or Canatrans. Most owners still have them and a bunch of cables to accompany, that is if they hadn't unloaded them. Just a thought, that's what I did to my Decimator... -Alfeo "hate buying more cables" Dixon
  6. Looking to buy one to two CineTape Interface cables for the Preston MDR2
  7. your rig would not dock properly and flop around, your more in danger of damaging your post than the rings
  8. Victor, glad it worked out for you, but in that very situation, you could have sent a very proper letter to SXSW stating that copyrights have not been released to said company due to unpaid crew members which respectively hold copyrights as "a collective body of work," if this work is displayed without the express written consent of the "Collective Copyright Holders," we shall seek damages. What many people forget, is that even a PA that has a deal memo which was not fulfilled, then they still have collective rights to the work Nothing like not having a big screening that did not happen because of a few unpaid wages.
  9. Anyway to get a RAW output for external recording? That would truly make this a less than 4K game changer
  10. I found that my Kata from Oyama Karate had some interesting similarities to our foot work. The key to the Kata is balance for stability and movement for striking or defending at any given moment and direction oriented. Which is exactly what you want to be able to do while operating, if you get hung up on your feet and legs then you can not move around your rig proficiently and you will get tangled up and risk the ever dreaded bump on the sled or worst... tripping your self up!
  11. Did anyone else voice your opinion of steadicam being easier?
  12. these are not the jumbos you are looking for...
  13. Its only in one setup on the beach sequences which leads to believe something is loose in the setup and not the rig. possibly even a lens that was not properly seated or sub standard support used within the setup. I had a B4 mounted lens on a Live-to-Tape show that kept seeing vibrations on the jumbos and went thru my entire setup only to find out the utility handed me a camera with the lens not seated properly... very frustrating if you don't know to look there first. Of course the Reds/Epics are PL Mounts, but this could still happen in a rush.
  14. check the Post-to-Top Stage set screws. This could be the culprit. I also had a lens that wasn't mounted well vibrating on me once.
  15. John, Just as Aaron stated... if its a union job, that operator is waaay out of line in doing so. Call it in. If NY is your selected "Production City," you have the right to work there as a local. IF its a union job and the operator is also union, the operator could face fines. Fines that I don't think are nearly as heavy as they should be to stop this type of shenanigans. I think Aaron meant to say also "If it was non union. Then there NO are rules." - This is true, but call it in anyway, many times these companies have signatory companies also and they are just trying to avoid P&A payments. -Alfeo
  16. I had mine quoted thru WPD but serviced by The Hartford, give Tonya a call.
  17. Actually no, Drop time is drop time, changing the length of the rig doesn't change the degrees per second the rig is moving. We measure the amount of time that it takes for the sled to travel 90 degrees (Horizontal to vertical) Length of the post doesn't change that. Actually Eric, we measure the time and of distance traveled of the 90ยบ segment of the circumference. That in fact does change with the length of a rig.
  18. Amando my brother! Sorry to hear of your injury. What looks like a simple stumble has devastating results to our bodies. Robert brings up a very important point, I never would have considered seeing a sports specialist, but they of all doctors would get how much we put our bodies through. I started tending goal last year on a 30+ soccer team and have had a few bumps that just didn't heal right and the old body just aint what it use to be... but we do heal! Take care our yourselves (yes, all of your personas) and eat right.
  19. Peter! Why the hell should I invest in a Titanium one when you can get shit load of them out of China for the half the price that work just as well. Suuure you have to throw out about a third of them for quality control and be careful not to scratch yourself with the uneven serrated forks... heard one kid got gangrene. But they work well!
