  1. Matteo, other than announcements to products, I doubt your going to get a response on a public forum from any large company. Its just bad PR, but if you contact them directly, I'm sure you will get nearly all your questions answered unless it is information that can not be answered at the time. Now.... Jim Bartell is the exception to the rule... he uses public forums as a leverage for drinks! (I owe you one for that Jim, collect at NAB) -Alfeo
  2. Velcro Brand Industrial Strength 4" does the trick, besides... its supported by 3 to four cables if it falls, I'm more so worried about it unlocking during a shot and I have done plenty of whips and not a problem I too thought about that Sanjay, maybe add a V-Lock to the bottom of my stage nose for quick on and off for camera transitions. Thats why I dropped the Tiffen one Please.
  3. May I present to you all... https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B-VQAy0gxWItOGVhZTcxYWUtNWIxMS00MzNlLWJiODQtMjBhODExYmI0OWE2
  4. Not sure, this camera is support to get us closer or back to more of a RAW film stock type of workflow, not a lot of control in the field at the camera in terms of sensor painting and LUTS found the manuel here: F65 Manual
  5. Mounted up the F65 today and what a ride... you'd think that they would start to get it right by now. A few issues that I learned about. POWER!!!!! Holly Fart Sh!t Batman! I had to add a third Power Cube to drive this beast longer than 10 minutes. While in the training session I started to worry about these redunkulus record times... Episodic could actually get away with an entire day on one 1TB card, but thank god for the shortened battery changing, just hope they don't want you to strap a brick to our backs! Camera draw is 10.75A in standby w/ Preston in 12V mode, spiking upwards of 11A with shutter spinning and Preston motors working For Low Mode, we (the camera house and training session) where told that you can use the spacer plate from the bottom of the camera up top for bracket mounting... well that does not work. In fact, the plate wouldn't match up at all, so I just took my small dovetail and slapped it straight to the top of the body. The handle is nice and sturdy, but tall as hell, almost adds a foot of clearance... and we know what that translates to. The camera is left side heavy, so you'll want to offset you mounting top the right side of your bridge plates... this means you can not utilize a lightweight matte box on 15mm rods off you dovetail unless you can correct for this displacement, kind of the same way Alexa did to mount to the Arri BP for 19mm studio For and aft CG (w/ 40mm Cooke S4, Mattebox, two DM2's) is just around the sensor plane Power Cable is same as F35 & Genesis This camera is 24P not Psf, so they say some HD monitors may not work, test your monitor before hand, UltraBrite 2's (at least mine) are fine. No remote start/stop until April? update Sony DID kept the Sony style Lens (VTR) connector so in theory, once Preston gets the specs, we should be able to control shutter angle and frame rate... that would be nice (call Preston and request it!!!) AND of course the 3pin fischer connector will carry a trigger also for Run/Stop No down converted NTSC output for Analog monitors and output is 709 Pics to come and CamWave test on Monday... unless someone already did try? -Alfeo

  7. Matteo! I can't believe after all this you had not even called ANYONE at Tiffen about what you felt was not working for you properly, before someone on the forum had to give you a phone number. For Gods sake man, be more professional and stop the crybaby act of wanting for someone to come to you and baby you back to giggles before you shit your undies again! To anyone and everyone following this thread, this is a business we are in and you are expected to be professionals. I do not have a single vendor that I do not have direct email, phone nor mobile to a sales rep or customer service. If at all possible I always make friends with someone on the inside and someone available to problem solve if I get stuck without results AFTER my own initial attempts to take care of the situation. Nothing like calling them in the middle of the night and they ask you "is it plugged in?" I have spent many hours with Robert (engineering) @Tiffen on the phone dealing with an issue with my Ultra Bright 2 before we FINALLY found out that the 24fps on the F900 (camera onset) differed from the EX 24fps (Sony Factory Test Camera) My point being, yes this is a place for us to discuss our craft, but before the witch hunt, please make sure there is actually a witch and not just some lady with a black hat riding a broom
  8. If its the one that NFL Films had bought from Dave Dart... that's the one
  9. I'm just curious to how many operators that felt or saw there foot steps actually dialed in there arm with both Ride and Lift for that particular shot in question? I for one use to not touch my Ride adjustment for the first 2 years of my operating, why... because even though I knew how to and the true purpose of each, the LIft seemed to be the only difference needed. I would change the Ride for hard mounted car work only. But as the camera weight changes, the Ride and Lift should be proportionately changed also (If logic and pure physics are at work here). The bounciness was more noticeable on my G70 with lighter setups, usually I fly the heavier cameras and occasionally the ENG/Studio config. I have a great relationship with Tiffen and the Steadicam team which has always stood by their products ever since I flew a rental Ultra1 (prototype) to my Ultra2 Again, just curious about dialing in for ever config... Post Script Thought: You wouldn't use the same struts nor shocks on a Wrangler, 4Runner nor Hummer... -Alfeo

    HELP

No worries Mohamad... no disrespect nor apology needed, I took a cheap shot at you calling us older (that don't really want to admit to ourselves that we are the old guys now), experienced guys Seniors. It was meant as a joke to make a point about another thread that has been removed. For that, I apologize to you. Its a bit harsh when you turn 40, you realize your "arms have gotten shorter" as my aunt would say and every year your eye glass prescription nearly doubles...
  12. William is correct, no boosting Afton. what type of adapter/connector to and from cat5? It would terminate in the appropriate XLRs at each end. Dual female XLR3s at one end, Dual male XLR3s at the other. No need for those junction boxes. The Cat 5 cable is the important bit, but it doesn't need to end in Cat 5 connectors. Afton, you got me thinking and I found this: http://www.markertek...nc/500027.xhtml If MuxLab made this with the Dual male XLR3s and the return for monitoring (as in this photo ) that would be a nice small and bare able set to have. But the bigger question is how many cameras could it work with... about 70% and I in!!!

    HELP

Guys... could we PLEASE watch our language on this forum... I am in complete awe at the derogatory terms being loosely thrown around these days. Between this thread and another, I am completely offended!
  14. what type of adapter/connector to and from cat5?
  15. The closest you may get to 3D with Steadicam is Paul Taylor, he teaches the Steadicam workshop up in Rockport and was also the teacher of their 1st 3D Cinematography workshop also. If you get into his Steadicam course, let him know your interested in flying 3D and who knows what he may be able to pull together. http://www.mainemedi...adicam-workshop http://www.mainemedi...oto/paul-taylor LOL... thats me in the background with the motorcycle on my shirt... http://www.mainemedi...aphy/12-07-2010 ....or just vote for Pedro!
  16. I'm actually working with the sound guy that had it made tonight on 2nd unit... I will ask him about the boosting and I do believe he was not able to hear the return from the camera, not sure, but will ask that also. I think that is a great little trick to have in your bag. Maybe a group purchase on that breakout cable would help bring cost down also.
  17. The sound guy had this Cat5 jumper made that made my life soooooo much easier. The thing I HATE the most is... "well if you have one cable (super thin spaghetti bnc) then what's another cable?!?" as they dangle a what THEY called a lightweight cable at you. Referring back to this old thread: http://www.steadicam...indpost&p=36665
  18. How is this for cheap Rush . good luck. You can thank the Aussie for that one....
