  1. Yes, GPI carries the dovetail but is currently backordered. It's $50. It's not featured on their website but you can ask them for it. The holes in the dovetail match the "PRO" bracket that Jim Bartell provides with his receivers.
  2. Sorry for the ultra-late notice....(it's been hectic.) But, tomorrow there will be a screening of a short film called "The Glitch" for which I was the DP and featuring the work of our friend Kenji Luster, SOC. Silent Movie Theater 611 N Fairfax Avenue. (one block south of Melrose) Los Angeles, CA 90036 From 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM We will be showing it several times within that window so come when you can! Note: Parking is limited to street parking. Hope to see you there!
  3. Congratulations go out to our friend Kenji Luster and his wife Karen on the birth of their son Leo Thomas on Monday the 14th. Mother and baby are doing fine...Kenji is in shock, I think.
  4. Docking Stand Stabilizing Bracket. Bowing to popular demand I'm pleased to announce the production of my Docking Stand Stabilizing Bracket for the Hill Docking Bracket?. As the name implies, this bracket stabilizes the docking bracket on your stand, keeping it from rocking. It also prevents the docking bracket from being rotated on the stand's top riser by those over enthusiastic AC's. (See Kelsey Smith's post, July 14,2006 under "Cases/Carts/Stands") This is a modified version of the bracket I made for Erwin Landau (see his post under "Cases/Carts/Stands" July 14, 2006) This version clamps onto the spud of your stand and doesn't require drilling or pinning. Made from Stainless Steel. US$ 75.00 Feel free to email me at: tom@cinewidgets.com Or Call 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Pacific Time at: 818-769-9370
  5. Thank you to everyone for the great response. I'm covered for this weekend. Wish me luck!

  7. Thinking about doing a practice hke this weekend. Aiming for Mt. Baden-Powell, up near Wrightwood. It's 9400 ft and about a 9 mile hike. Last year it took Ron and I about 5 hours to do it. Not a bad little hike. If anyone is interested call me at: 818-769-9370 or email me at: tom@cinewidgets.com
  8. We've finally decided to attempt Whitney during our second window...June 27 through June 30. Work schedules and lack of fitness have dictated that we take to extra four weeks and attempt to train. I'll keep anyone interested posted on any practice hikes in the local mountains between now and then!

  12. Just an update. Ron and I have received our trail permit reservations. The first window is May 31 thru June 2. The second is June 28 thru June 30th. The idea for both these times is to head up the afternoon before either camp out at Whitney portal or Get rooms in Lone Pine. Ideally we'd like to be on the trail before sun up.....The idea is to get up to Trail Camp before the snow gets too soft. We found out the hard way last year! Any really interested should drop me or Ron a note so we can put you on the maybe list. We have six spots total. BTW The attached picture was from last year. Just remember that's a fifty pound pack Ron's carrying! Tom G.
  13. In deference to Brant Fagan and Jerry Holway I am no longer refering to my rig stabilization device as "antlers" Brant and Jerry have been using the term since 1997 and must be afforded the respect and rights that go along with a trademarked term. The slight was purely unintentional. Again, my apologies.
