  1. Hey, newbies…. this is crazy cheap. While I have not seen it, $1K for a 3a gimbal is a killer deal. This makes for a good starter sled for cheaper than cheap. Frankly, a sticky post won't really hurt you most of the time. This sled with an OK monitor (and used monitor arm), a 3a arm, and Bartech and a vest and its a start.
  2. Michael, If you strike out there, I have not used mine in a long time. Would consider selling. Also have a PDL. Message me if interested.
  3. Philip, to be clear, Afton did the modifications to the sled. He later sold it Aaron. We are all in NYC (well, Afton is now technically in CT, but I think his passport is still valid).
  4. I know this sled! It was Will Arnot's and he sold it to Meg. It is beautiful and indeed, I have a very similar sled. FYI, David Hable can upgrade the wiring to HD if you wish. Meg, give me a call when you get a chance - been too long.
  5. I'm excited because Monster Remotes is getting one here in NYC. In addition to the Steadicam mount, they are making an option to attach a Libra head to an arm. Good times.
  6. Yeah, but Afton that cart probably cost more than my first car.
  7. Rod, try another of Jerry's rings. I believe you're using a PRO/XCS hybrid like me so you have a PRO style quick release at the top. These were designed to be used as a docking collar so I wouldn't worry about the upper junction box too much. I actually leave my hill collar wrapped over the PRO quick release collar (in essence resting against the upper Juntion Box, but it should be tight enough that it's not freely pushing on that J-boxl thus try another collar). End result is that this allows you to get the gimbal higher on the post. You do need to periodically check that the quick release has not come loose though.
  8. Mike, is there a downside to using "Broadcast" mode? I was on a commercial last week where we were using a 2000 for car to car stuff with great success. Our DIT owns both the 2000 and a Boxx and he actually thinks the 2000 is better! The one complaint from assistants was (if I understood them correctly) that if you cycle power on the Transmitter, you need to cycle power on the receiver. Is this true? May have been an old firmware thing too. Mike, please elaborate.
  9. I have not removed my two blue, two black combo from my arm in years. That said, if you can swing the cash for eight, you are covered for all combos as well as backup and as Tom points out, its much cheaper to buy them upfront. Short of that, buy four blues, two blacks.
  10. James, Look here: http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showtopic=20510 Ozzie, they seem to hold their value well enough. The new ones coming out have a few extra features but the price has been raised so the old ones seem to do well. Depends on the number of receivers.
  11. Hey Brandon. Look up Aaron Brown. He has Afton's old heavily modified Master Series sled. Aaron is in NYC too. I'd give you his number, but since you posted a topic with the word "sled" in the tittle in "General Discussion" instead of [duh!] "Sleds," making me clean up your mess, I'll let you find it on your own. Nice sled though. Take good care.
  12. Mike, just got off the phone with Kyle and he should be sending it (and REd User finally just confirmed me too). Thanks!
  13. Yup. Registered this morning (after talking to Kyle at Teradek) but still can't post. Interested in a 2000.
  14. Other than causing a stray pacemaker or two to give it up, no problems to report.
  15. Drank the coolaide and orderd one this morning.
  16. I was gonna say that is a hell of deal! Somebody was a lucky winner. Been a long time Pyare - hope you're well.
  17. Betta tested the BFD in NYC in 1999. Ordered it and received S/N 22 (only because I let an earlier number go to someone in more need since I had a perfectly "functioning" Seitz at the time). It was a fabulous unit then and still is. Howard who? And yes, I AM a moderator... and on THIS one, I DO have an opinion.
  18. No. Never this problem and we have similar setups (two similar setups actually). Was this your PRO 3 base or your PRO Light base (I'm assuming the 3 base because of the "3 batteries")?
  19. No, this post should not be moved "to what's new in NAB" as that thread is a mess. Indeed, let's keep the discussion here in a new thread that people can find later. I'll likely close the other soon when I have time to move posts around. Thank you.
  20. Hey guys, This thread has become a mess for archival purposes. Let's open new threads for the topics at hand (i.e. AB batteries and the Lynn Axis). Thanks!
