I may sell big ticket items separately (arm, vest, sled) but not the little things. (clamps, posts, brackets)

    1) Anything marked n/c (No Charge) means I am giving it away with purchase of 'Package'. Items marked with n/c may or may not work.

    3) The AB Dionic 90 Batteries are pretty much shot, hence the n/c, but they can be re-celled if you wish.

  3. Selling 'USED' cart for $750.

Comes with dings, scratches and minor dents but will most likely last another 20 yrs. Located in Ojai, CA. Buyer can PU or pay for delivery or shipping. Thanks and send me your questions.

FROM FILMTOOLS: The Steadicam Junior Cart ( $1499.99 NEW ) is a heavy duty senior frame cart that has five double riveted cross bars. For our wheels, we use 4-ply tube-type 10" tires unlike our competitors who only use 2-ply. Attached to the cart is a 6061 T6 aircraft aluminum and a 30" nose extension that has double-riveted, which are aircraft stainless steel rivets, square tube cross bars.

From there, we replace the stock 5" stock casters with the Backstage standard 8" wheel kit. Both the top and bottom aluminum shelves measure at 36" x 24" x 1.5". To make life easier for our customers, we have swing-away handles to allow easier Steadicam docking on the Steadicam "bazooka" docking mast. Also, the cart comes with a newly designed bumper to protect the Steadicam sled and a vest holder that mounts on the 30" nose extension.

  6. Pedro, Nice work regarding your 3D postings.

Thought I'd post a pict. of the 3ality 3D platform on a GPI PRO steadicam. 1st AC Mark Santoni and a engineer are prepping the rig for

the 'untitled Spider-Man Reboot' as it is called.

We are flying two RED 'Epics' with Arri Ultra Primes while recording to a card. The whole package (sled + 3ality platform + 2 Epics + 2 lenses + 3 Dionic HC Batteries + Misc. electronics ) is weighing roughly at 76 lb. with Vest and Arm it is 100 lbs.

The challenges are: Balancing the rig, Wireless transmission, Power consumption, WEIGHT, Side-to-side balance when the interaxial is adjusted during the shot, Line-of-sight to the monitor and I'm sure stuff we haven't come across yet. The photo's are of a steadicam in the early stages of prep so ignore things that are taped on, loose wires, etc. You may notice the battery component on the bottom of the sled s a little different. This is a prototype design that GPI is working on for mass production.

I also flew the PACE rig on "Pirates 4" with 2 RED's.... I find both the rigs way too heavy, ball busters to say the least, hats off to anyone that has a smile on their face when carrying one of these rigs around.

    Thanks

    Dave L.

  7. The Steadicam duo of Jeff Mart & Paul Taylor were one of the 1st camera crews that I had the good fortune of meeting during the mid 80’s when I was trying to break into the film business. I met Paul in a ‘Assistant Camermans’ class offered by General Camera in Hollywood. At the time Paul was Jeff Marts 1st AC and together they made up one of Hollywoods most skilled Steadicam teams.

As a ‘new-be’, Jeff and Paul invited me to many of their shoots so I could began to learn the inner workings of the camera crew and gain valuable on-set experience. Their generosity, knowledge, enthusiasm, sense of humor and professionalism rooted in me the basic skills and attitude needed to become a successful camera technician. More importantly this early exposure to a true ‘Steadicam Master’ propelled me towards a craft of which I now throughly enjoy as a career.

To Jeff, I am eternally grateful for his benevolences and try to carry forward the spirit and enthusiasm he showed on every set. I’m sure he had no idea of the influence he cast on me during my fledgling years.

To all those who have passed before us, thank you for propelling the art of steadicam to such a esteemed and respected profession. Your spirit lives in every shot we do.

For those of us who remain, let’s not forget to pass that spirit on, Jeff’s spirit, to the new kid on the set, that “new-be”... Unknowingly, our influence may set their course.

    Eternally Grateful, Rest In Peace.

    David Luckenbach, SOC

  8. Sometimes you can push a paper clip into the little hole just below the readout and it is possible to reset it.

alas, let it be known that batteries don't last forever and in some cases they don't last long at all.

Also, I have own a few Dionics, and I am not impressed with their durability, longevity or robustness. You can buy a Hytron for around $249. Use um and toss um (recycle) when they're done.

  9. I've gone down a number of times over the years.. and having a spotter would not have helped in any of my falls . If you fall forward your going down no matter what.. It happens.. Just don't fall on the actor, that would be bad.

No, I haven't made contact with a actor while falling but the boom man on 'Speed 2' cushioned my or should I say our fall backwards. Joaquin Phoenix doesn't know it but be almost had approx. 320 lbs come in contact with his backside during a running shot on 'Walk The Line' and Gillian Anderson from the 'X-Files' almost ended up with a steadicam with me attached to it in her lap while doing a shot inside a VW Van being driven by a actor who 'popped' the clutch and she new it.

Usually it's just you and the ground and the actor asking " Are You OK"?.
