  1. There isn't a question mark anywhere in your paragraph there Louis so not sure... Certainly you can't put a 24v hawkwood onto a 12v V lock. There is a safety to prevent that. I think its fair to say you should ask the boys at Boxx in the morning with your serial number. I've got a Boxx system and didn't even realise I could pass 24v through it. Let me know! I love the Boxx system xThomas
  2. I think its still interesting. There are limits to my skill with a million hours of practise and for some shots its interesting. I do see it as something you would only use on that wide with no foreground action on a 35mm anamorphic lens or something. Maybe gyros and a rickshaw are a better call at that moment or dare I saw it.. a dolly.. I don't know... Still its interesting
  3. Wow, that looks like an incredible part of the world to live. No wonder he's not fixing motors. Lake, forest sunshine.,
  4. I don't even keep them that warm. I just turn them on as long as possible before a take and turn them off straight after. I find if they are spinning a little anyway they get up to a useful speed in a minute or so.
  5. Hi, I am waiting for a solid block too. They have designed them and are waiting for machinists I understand. I think it'll be ready any day now.
  6. I think we need a strategy over the age of 30. Under 30 recovery is so good.
  7. Aww mate! Yeah there are lots and lots of people in the world that have had slipped discs and going on to compete in Power Lifting or Olympic lifting. It is not over unless you want it to be. A friend of mine broke his Spine properly and a year later is operating handheld all day every day. Remember a lot of these fitness programs are pretty much nonesense and could well aggravate an injury just as they caused it. Do your recovery and rehabilitation as perscribed then and with your doctors permission and a proper trainer checking technique get your deadlift up to bodyweight and squat to 80% bodyweight and you will be fine to operate Steadicam again. Then slowly try to get those figures up to 150% and 100% respectively (sets of 5). This will build the volume of muscle in your posterior chain protecting your spine. I've lots of friends that do heavylifting jobs in the Arts who have had slipped disks and made 100% recoveries. Despite common thought Steadicam or AR isn't THAT intense on your spine and your spine is mostly in a neutral position under load.
  8. The Alexa side symptons I have seen before when the 12v battery of the 24v series of batteries (i.e. the CAM one rather than the AUX on as per the PRO) runs out, fails or has too much draw.
  9. Out of interest; what are the internal cables rated at amps wise? The AUX cable and the main power cable? On the CineLive.
  10. I want a MOVI on the end of my Steadicam and two buttons on my gimble. One that disengages Pan Stbilization and one that disengages tilt stabilisation. By plyaing with these buttons during the shot I can now do absolutely anything I like. Ok there is an issue where you can paint yourself into a corner... have the camera too far in one direction or the other or too much tilt. It will be mental but I think it will work.
  11. I guess it is a bit scarier hanging the camera upside down. Well done swapping the lens out; Yeah In some markets sometimes DoPs need to compromise for the kit available on hand. Certainly I will tell a DoP not to use Primo-Anamorphics on Steadicam or do my very best to swap those lenses out. It is the nature of the beast. Christopher, high a bigger rig.. but definitely test it out. It might be an idea to send a power cable up the outside of the rig. I had a Zephyr for a bit. You might get away with it or it could all end up in an embarrassing mess. Let us know. GOOD LUCK! land luck comes to those who are prepared.
  12. Can you convince them to use Ultra Primes instead of MP s ? Your going to have to test.
  13. It is going to be tight. You should find out if there is going to be a CineTape as that could curveball you.
  14. Thanks. That helps a lot. So your wheels system is a vast improvement on a jimmy jib but not all the way to a remote head in accuracy. The proof will be in the pudding so looking forward to trying it.
  15. Do you have any better links to this book Foundation or an author? What do the older operators do? I've heard stories about Larry's bike on Hugo. These are the people that have extracted longevity from this industry.
  16. Dear Mike, Thanks for taking the time to respond on this forum. The film industry is full of price points and the best product tends to become industry standard based on quality and reliability irrespective of price. Most of the people requesting kit (crew) in our industry are not the ones paying for it. Hence you are doing the right thing striving for quality. So my question with regards to accuracy. Is a 1/5th of a wheel turn equal to a specific amount of camera movement? The Jimmy jib wheels where kind of kinetic in the dimmension. So if I do two turns upwards then back down two identical turns will the camera be in exactly the same place? Best Regards Thomas
  17. What kinda price point and how vibration robust did it look?
  18. I wonder how these things work. I was under the impression there was no rotary encoded feedback on the Movi / Ronin. I owned a Jimmy Jib a few years ago and had the wheels setup for that. It was not... accurate.
  19. So with regards to the Pag VLinks. I have been using these for years. There were some software issues that Paul spoke of at the start but these are all done and dusted. My batteries charge and discharge fine. I am not sure about this recomendation to remove the 3rd battery and it being a 65wh .. I put 4 batteries on there in series and leave overnight all the time and have 4 fully charged batteries. I never stack them on my sled apart from in emergencies (3D or something weird). With regards to the Lynn System Axis AR LarryMcConkey Hybrid sexy beast tickle my bottom unit. Here is what I want: Roll Stabilisation and Front Stabilization on a gimble button that can feather on and off. Possibly then another button that can feather on and off pan stabilization.
  20. Lack of PsF kills this product for me. MultiCast is also becoming more and more important.
  21. For Sale Switronix Recon. This is a very good video link. I've had a lot of success with it. I own the Boxx HD now and the Recon hasn't come off the shelf for a while. The story is I bought a CW7 initially and discovered my Recon was loads better than the CW7. I used the CW7 on many jobs and it wasn't holding signal so I would swap my Recon back in and bang on signal again. The small extension cables are not included. Well you can have them but they are the wrong SMA connectors I ordered. The principle is that you order some little connectors like that for the back of a mobile monitor. Its a good video link. Its made of plastic and has a fan. Incidently I have used it on lots of sound jobs and the fan hasn't been a problem. My Boxx has a fan. It is a good cheap video link. £875 + VAT . You don't need to pay VAT if outside of Europe or have a European VAT number. UK rules apply to UK VAT customers.
  22. yeah superinteresting. Does give you a good idea as to what a Movi / Steadicam sled will evolve to look like over the next few years.
  23. Eat a bigger breakfast and make sure you add ketchup to everything.
