  1. It is worth watching but i really really wish someone would make a decent video. I am surprised really. Come on.... maybe they want to keep their real tricks secret! who can blame them really having spent years and years developing an art they don t want to give it away lightly. or more likely the people qualified to make such a video are simply too busy on big films/comercials
  2. buy my one off me if you like
  3. i bought that video from BH i am in england. pal land. it played fine on my vcr and will play fine on any good vcr. its rubbish. the efp training video is much better.
  4. MERRY CHRISTMAS! MAY ALL YOUR FOOD BE WELL COOKED AND PRESENTS EASILY RETURNABLE!
  5. no, i have nt. According to this forum the FBX is very good as well. Marell make a lot of the electronics in the mk-v sleds, so i already knew about their high quality work and service. I got my video distribution amplifier in the marell unit too. However i would love to try the FBX. I suspect it will be a while before anyone tries them out side by side with the XCS unit. thomas
  6. just rang dave s at marell yes, it switches automatically. no switching needed.
  7. yup, it should be fine. but i feel its better to give your kit the best advantages possible. To my mind there are two types of "forces due to acceleration" that could throw a bubble off. i - the reaction due to rotation (due to circular acceleration) also known as the centrifugal force from rotating your post. spinning the rig could creat a false reading. ii - the reaction force force due to acceleration, i.e. accelerating left or right rapidly could knock off the the bubble and give a false reading. accelerating to the right could make the camera appear to have leant to the left. or accelerating forwards could trick the sensor into thinking the camera has leant backwards. However, as I mentioned earlier, this is about as far as i am qualified to comment on the innerworkings of bubbles. Dave Ellis said that there were 4 sensors instead of 3. With the fourth designed to compensate for these mistakes- however he did say that a small level of error could not be completely eliminated, rules of physics and all that.
  8. oh price i suppose u should really ask marell about all that. between 650 and 950 ukp, depending what extra s you want .
  9. yo gnespolo yeah, u can put the bubble any which way wherever u like. I ve put it directly underneath my post because.... on paper (maths) the closer it is the the centre of rotation the less it will suffer from centrifugal forces when whip panning. ..... i.e. the further the sensors are away from the middle of spin the more they ll be tricked to give a false reading - i am however not an old boy steadicam op. so i dont know whether this difference is substantial to make a difference in the real world of operating. i ll leave that to somebody that has played about a lot with bubble positioning . on paper and my study of maths.... it makes sense. the extra 15 cm away from the centre of rotation may make no difference at all especially when considering that when your whip panning u probably dont look at the bubble. si, yo penso todo es coolio
  10. this level is sensitive to gravity. but there is an extra sensor in there , so when u accelerate of spin, it compensates for the extra force that would otherwise give you a false reading. seems to work very well. thomas
  11. yup... i need a holiday...... englands starting to get a little cold / miserable / xmass ... or i will hunt some humans..
  12. oh and cheers mr Arnot about positioning the bubble at head height! wicked tip
  13. Been using the new marell bubble yesterday... wicked I was able to have 3 outputs on this one... with a video distribution amplifier built in. So I have 2 "clean" outputs and one bubbled output It has more sensors in it to measure and calculate against G-forces. The software is very versatile. I can position the bubble anywere i like as well as fully adjustable lines and all sorts. different shadings . My favourite bit is the battery level indicator. Measures the number of volts your sled is powering it and the rest of the sled with... like it! i hate it when you move up to do a shot and your bloody batteries out! all ready to go... this will end that. I suppose it only measures the 12v side of my sled but seeing as that runs out first (more load with FF, TX etc) this is fine. So i tried it out... I love the MK-v evolution sled because of its ability to have anything nicely gaffered onto it . I mounted the bubble dirtectly underneath the post. best place as its on the rotational axis. I went through the menu to set up what orientation of the bubble (it can be mounted any which way up or sideways) . I planned on 3Mvelcroing it to the base of the basebox. It has all sorts of sensitivity settings and damping... i love it... i can practise my donjuan loads now! can t belive i ve survived so long without The only thing is .. the last few promos i shot the editor seems to have chosen all the shots where the horizon is dynamic! like a computer game flight sim.... oh well tools for the job!
  14. http://homebuiltstabilizers.com/ http://www.liquidlatex.net/cgi-bin/ikonboa...forum=3&topic=3 http://www.organizedregistry.com/engagement_ring/build.php lifes a http://www.showdogsupersite.com/kenlclub/b...vet/vpbxm1.html and then you http://www.vintagecoffins.com/coffinkit.html still can t be bothered to make my own tally light though.... anyway the wires would pull, i would order the wrong leds and it would nt work...... so in the mean time... Peter has seen more of these broken, means if i buy one off him and it will be strong! Howard, on your new hummingbird / mk-v / knightrider-superslick monitor, there are a load of tally lights accross the top. How does one feed a signal into this creature? if you dont have the new jbox with lights ablaze.
  15. onto the klassen bandwagon i fly my flag! just got the universal arm upgraded to the lowprofile on my genesis vest! The klassen dove flew to my xmass tree just in time for my last job. low profile arm is much better! go klassen go klassen go!
  16. http://www.steadicamforum.com/forums/index...?showtopic=1354
  17. my first rig was a hollywood lite... made some money... bought a bigger rig......... what this sale does mean is all the varizoom adds you see everywere will be selling cheap "steadicams". giving certain people a false idea as to how much we spent on our rigs and so they ll hassle us on price more.
  18. olla jorge, I notice in your equipment section u use the same cheap 2.4ghz lcd reciever i use for your focus puller..... where did you get that nice bracket from to hold em both together cheers mate gracias thomas
  19. have you tried putting the transmitter somewhere else on the rig? by the monitor, at the bottom of the rig as far away from the camera as possible.
  20. by "saran wrap" do you mean cling film... transparent film for keep food in the fridge with.. or wrapping up your girlfr.......... i just got a piece of transparent perspex bigger than my lcd monitor.. so this weekends "hell nightmair got ta go away" shooting i can put the platic on my monitor and then clingfilm it on ... i have trouble seeing through too many paranoid layers of clingfilm
  21. Rob, I notice you have two options of height on your gimbal post. do you have all three (low as well... out of shot on photo) set up all the time? very good idea. do you not knock the back of the camera when boomed downwards with your higher post bit? your gimbal post adaptor ... is it of the thai machined variety (not anodised) .... can i buy one off of ya? I ve been using the baer-bell arm a little recently .... amazingly lively! the bearings in the gimbal post seem to add loads of isolation from fat man waddle to camera....
  22. mp4 on quicktime only works if peolpe have qt6 ... the codecs cool the best qt codec is sorenson 3 ... or better sortenson 3 pro.,.. they are old but wicked codecs! i feel they look better tham mpg4 ... all to do with the way mpg4 is nt designed for net streaming techie etc etc etc it ll work on any old quik time player "apparently" there s a version on sorenson3 compressor available on the illegal pier to pier things.... i recomend u dont download it and u dont set your clock back to 1999 (as it expires in 2000) and u dont compress it.. what u should do is spend thousands of dollars u would otherwise spend on a tiny little bracket ... then u should quite steadicam work and get a job in a bank for the rest of your life.
  23. 3M velcro? its not really velcro but sort of fastener.... "dual lock SJ3540" super strong, thats how im mounting my bubble and BFD... i got the weaker one of the two and its still too strong... feel i might break the rig when i add it or remove it. its no good for curved surfaces though, (post)
  24. yeah, i would really like to urge some photo s too... want to build/balance on my magliner but got some heebeegeebee s.... especially pushing the magliner about with rig on board.. do u strap it down with velcro straps or something..? Do i have to get the larger pneumatic wheels? for the handle end? Is it vital to have the 8" wheel kit to use the mast and bumper kit? Do I have to get that flash extendable bazzoka steadicam mount or can i just get away with the 40dollar Universal 5/8' pin and bracket http://store.yahoo.com/cinemasupplies/magun58nospi.html I would love to see your action photo s!
