  1. Who offers the Best price on Modulus 3000 or better?
  2. This may be the obvious, but if you have not checked, there are 2 allen type screws under the D-box that will tighten some play. These screws control the friction of the fore and aft threads so do not over tighten. I have found that from time to time they get to loose and create some play. But as always, if you have a problem with your PRO, call GPI, Im sure they will assist you. Jeff
  3. Howard, 3 Questions: Does this unit come in an HD/SDI version, swithchable to NTSC/PAL? Is it possible to see one in NYC any time soon? How much? Thanks, Jeff
  4. call: 800 CABLE IT. Clark wire, get yourself kings brand triax to coax adapters. To date, its the best means of using a soft jumper cable. Triax to Coax. There are some smaller softer triax cables out there, but still nothing as good as a thin coax. Jeff
  5. Eastwood's rig is custom(David designed and built it), with a pro gimbal d-box 2, transvideo monitor. The other op, I believe, is Danny Bonila. A relatively, new to Steadicam guy. He is the regular on this show. Jeff
  6. They have one, Ive used it. Not sure where it came from, but it most definately exsists. And by the way, the 35mm blow up on film looked amazing, the wide shots are a little funky, but longer lenses looked incredible. Thanks for clearing it up Mitch. Jeff
  7. If you are using cine style lenses and the conversion block, on board batts, matt box, etc, the camera will begin to feel like a typical 16mm camera in weight. I used this recently, and it came close to feeling like a "real camera". Very pro-sumer like, RCA conectors, some problems with temp changes. Jeff
  8. I totally agree with Will, You have made the perfect choice. I love this Arm. Interesting, I have the same problem with this white plastic piece. Simple oversight, purely a cosmetic problem, but should be fixed, a recall perhaps. I need to send mine in. Jeff
  9. I am having a problem with my M-One. The motor seems to start to vibrate in certain resting positions. Additionally, My AC has reported the need for double marks, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Sounds like come sort of clutch trouble?? Has anyone else come across this issue yet? Having some trouble getting Don on the phone. Jim B, have you seen this? I should note, that the motor has given me trouble free operating for almost a year. This is my first bad report on it. Prior, I have been very happy with it. Jeff
  10. Erwin, you offer a compelling argument. But I will still offer this question to all, Do you really need the performance of a TB-6 to operate Steadicam? Clearly, the generic answer is, no. Many People have proved that, myself included. The next question is, do you want the performance of a TB-6? This is a very different and individual question that has no right or wrong answer. It certainly seems that those who have it, need and want it. It has always been my position, that high-end LCD (I am not refering to the $400 panasonic), offers a very exceptable image for operating. I cant imagine operating any better with a sharper or brighter screen. Would I like it sharper or brighter, sure... do I need it, nahhh. All very interesting opinions. Sorry to drag this thread on. Jeff
  11. Extremely well put Larry, I would just like to add this: I believe we are all creatures of habit, at least I am. We get very comfy in our equipment and operating style, change, including this forum, is extra work. My point is, If you are buying new, I would consider the technology that is advancing. I am sure that you will be pleased and grow very comfortable with a top of the line LCD. The features missed or lacking from a CRT, wont be missed as much as with veteran ops, because you would'nt have goten used to them in the first place. This would be me advise to new operators. As always, just my opinion. Jeff
  12. Thanks Marc, But I suspect this wont help if you check in on multiple computers?? This was the most convenient feature of the "old" forum.
  13. 2) the ability to read ONLY the new posts There is a " View New Posts" option avaialble on most pages (after you log in) that works really well for most users. Tim, The marking of posts and the "view new posts", never seem to work properly. This is extremely frustrating. I have marked posts read, then returned to find them all back. Way to time consuming.. Help... Please make this idiot proof ( for guys like me) after marking a post, it should go away, never to be seen again, unless pulled up from archive. Jeff
  14. Its been my belief that CRT has been dead or on the way out for about 8 years. This has never been the popular opinion. But clearly, the technology is here and still improving. Is it better then the green screen? Depends on what you mean by better. I cant imagine operating with CRT after getting used to a larger color LCD screen. And by the way, This is not a Film or video discussion since monitoring is video in any format. Resolution, sharpness, contrast, brightness, bla, bla bla... Color LCD is it for me, very happy with it and looking foward to going HD very soon. Give me a 7 inch 16x9 HD/SDI/NTSC/PAL/Switchable LCD, that I can see in daylight, and Im done. Tiffens UltraBright is just to darn big, Im sorry, I know this isnt the popular opinion. The image looks great, but its a monster. Make a smaller one and you got me. Jeff
  15. Erwin, remote camera run configs in video are not worth the trouble. I assume you will be working with a sony F900? Many of the zoom rigs, J-7 or stanton's handle zoom control, have a camera run button built in. These controls typically connect to the zoom lens, not the camera. So if you have one of these contraptions (and you should for HD/video work) you can zoom and start tape roll all from your yoke hand. Just be sure that big red light goes on when you start shooting not when you stop ;) Of course, if you are using primes, another story. Then that 12 pin HRS connector free's up. I have not seen a breakout cable that would do what you ask, Im sure its possible, but you clearly would need a different cable for every different camera. This kind of product would be nice, sounds like a Jim B project. good luck, Jeff (still reaches up to the camera to start it) Muhlstock
  16. I have held back posting in here as I felt I should give the new sight a try for a few weeks. Well, to be honest, I dont like this format at all, way too clumsy getting around, all this glitz but just a pain in the neck to simply read unread posts. Youve lost me here... I need a place were you can simply click on and see whats new at a glance. I simply dont have the time or desire to weed through all the repitition. I am sure this sight has taken a tremendous amount of work to get here, and I apreciate that effort, but I strongly believe we have lost sight of the basics. You need to have a simple and familiar way of seeing folders of post and an even easier way of marking them. This sight just requires way to much jumping around, it shouldnt be that much work, we are going to loose significant members that have points of interest here. The "old Style" gave us the ability to see new posts and who posted them on a "front page". This was great, as many authors who offer so much quantity but less quality could be avoided. Now I am stuck scrolling indefinately until I reach something of interest. Readers should be able to get to there points of interest with greater ease. Very dissapointed, Jeff Muhlstock not to mention SPELL CHECK!!
  17. AS I recall, I broke the same piece on my original EFP, the fix: I used a Delrose docking donut. I littel modification to it, and it became a dual perpose locking clamp / low mode docking ring. I still use this system for locking my post. Jeff
