  1. I just got some ACF 50 and I had some corrosion in some of the Kip handles on my rig. This stuff instantly killed it. ACF-50 ROCKS! BJ McDonnell
  2. Thank God for Rocksteadi's covers. It is raining like a MO-Fo here in Los Angeles which is rare. Will, I hope you get those covers made for your sled. I know how much it sucks trying to keep moisture out of the rig and or rain itself. I just picked up my ACF-50 and it is awesome for getting rid of any corosion. With the covers and ACF-50 I hope I am all good. P.S. Will Arnot, The guy at San Val said he was sending out your cans of ACF-50 today. BJ McDonnell
  3. Hey Ramon, Funny you bring up rain gear as I was doing shots in the rain last night. I just bought rain gear from Rocksteadi gear in Canada. There is not much velcro except where you turn your rig on. It is either drawstring style or watertight zippers. It kept my battery cage totally dry as well as my arm. I wrapped my preston MDR in plastic cooking wrap and that worked like magic. I also own a PRO sled with a PRO 1 battery cage. The camera was wrapped in a garbage bag. Rocksteadi gives you a battery bag, arm cover, follow focus cover (very cool), and a monitor cover (big enough for my TB6). All for about $190.00 bucks and that price includes shipping from Canada to California. As for having your Gyros on , I don't think it would fit in the battery bag. For just regular rain gear it is worth a go. BJ McDonnell
  4. Hey George, Give me a call 323-868-7330. BJ McDonnell
  5. YO Dave! Abel Cine in Zoo York has a manual focus ring for the camera lens. This costs about 335.00 bucks. Either get production to rent it (if that is possible) or if your feeling like dropping some bling then buy it for your future jobs. It seems alot of peeps are using this camera to do projects. This will solve your follow focus issue.
  6. I have a IIIA vest made with leather. It is in amazing condition. The pads are in great shape. If anyone is interested drop me a line. Serious buyers only. Thanks. BJ McDonnell 323-868-7330
  7. I would suggest the angled "D" Bracket from Tom Gleason. BJ McDonnell
  8. Lets pass out a hero biscuit!
  9. That is a picture of me after I went off roading with Ron Baldwin. That mo fo can't drive. Just Kidding (about the picture) it is a picture of a ghost zombie thing that was in a film I shot called "Shallow Ground". I just thought it would be funny to put it there for myself. Hey Charles, I don't mountain bike brutha, I still ride BMX bikes. I just can't seem to grow out of my childhood good times. Chics, Heavy Metal, Rap , and commodore computers rule. BJ McDonnell
  10. It is true, I have had too much crafty. My harness, well; it has back for my huge arse! Damn you Ron for exposing me. I still have YOUR Tu Tu therefore you are still bent outa shape. Ron wanted to have a small showing of his new TU Tu revolution. He only wants B-list operators so they can all get a jump on this new technology. It comes only in rainbow color. He says it will change the way you operate. Ron, can I upgrade my old Tu Tu? Or does this Tu Tu only work on tiffen rigs? BJ McDonnell (cheap ass beatch) Ron (bizzo)
  11. I just had Tom make me a bracket for the bottom of my TB-6. It eliminates the wobble the monitor had when I would do any whip pans or fast moves. Tom makes awesome brackets. BJ McDonnell
  12. I just had to post here that I just got my Walter Light wide back harness!!!!! I am overly excited. It is an amazing difference from my IIIA vest. Walter Klassen and Daniel Suave have made a great design I know you guys already know how great these are but I just had the urge to tell all. OK i will shut up now! BJ McDonnell
  13. Sounds like a plan! I will be there. BJ McDonnell
  14. It sounds pretty cool. I would like to check it out before I would throw down $45,000.00 for the AR. Hey Howard, when are you gonna bust out some pics of this thing? I talked to you about maybe upgrading my set up but as soon as I asked to check out a demo of the Nexus w/ AR I never got a reply back from you. Does it work with a PRO 1 sled and a TB-6? I am interested but I never buy anything without testing it first. I am sure it will change things as we know it. BJ McDonnell
  15. I just flew that same camera three days ago. Of course it was on a beach and the wind was blowing like hurricane force! I used the onboard batteries for the camera and the D.P. wanted to use the zoom lens all day. I had no problem with the camera. I also have a TB-6 and it worked fine with the down converter. It was just a nasty beach day wind wise. It balanced fine. BJ McDonnell
  16. YO! I just wanted to post here that I found a harness. Thanks to everybody who replied to this post. BJ McDonnell
  17. Howard and Kelly, Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BJ McDonnell
  18. Hey everybody, I am looking to buy a used DSD Harness. I am 5'11 and 180 pounds. If anyone out there is selling and it is close to that size, drop me a line. Walter, if you know anyione looking to sell their used one let me know. I need one! Thanks. BJ McDonnell P.S. Daniel, what is the status on your new harness? Can you email me pics?
  19. I just finished working on a feature with the SDX900 and the PRO 35 adaptor. It tends to be a bit heavy with everything included (Preston motor, Modulus 3000, two rods to support the PRO 35 adaptor, matte box, wireless reciever for sound, etc...). Like Charles said, we had to fly each lens wide open each time. Also I used my batteries on my PRO sled to power the camera and it sucks batteries dry VERY FAST. I have to say it does fly nice once you get all the bugs worked out and the shots turned out beautiful. It is a heavy camera with everything on it so be prepared! BJ McDonnell
  20. YO Erwin! Happy Birthday and Fathers Day!!! My Birthday is tomorrow so why are we not celebrating a big BDAY BASH!!! Maybe next June we will have a steadicam guild birthday party. Take it easy home boy! BJ McDonnell
  21. The Hill docking bracket is the BOMB! Easy to use and very safe when walking away from the rig. ACs love it also when working on the camera. I think you would like it. BJ
  22. Check out Rig Engineerings silver spring arm. I just got mine about two months ago and it is very nice. It is basically a better IIIA arm. The PRO arm is awesome but I agree that you should start out with something used and then upgrade.
  23. Hey Jason, When I was buying my first rig I bought everything used. It took some time to complete my setup but it was very much worth the wait. I have no loan to pay off and I have a rig that can handle most cameras. I have a PRO 1 sled with a silver spring arm from steadyrig in australia. It took me about a year to finish my rig but at least I could start working and practice all the time. I still to this day am buying new stuff and I know it is a never ending process, but I saved a butt load of money doing it that way instead of dropping down the whole magilla! I just bought the parts I needed when I got the money from production work as a grip. It worked for me and I now have a pretty killer setup. BJ McDonnell
  24. Hey Max, Just to correct you I am only selling the PRO 1 monitor, not my sled. The XCS bubble level is the BOMB! I wonder why the PRO1 level would not work with the PRO 2 sled? I guess it is a matter of cabling. Let me know if you are still interested in the monitor. I am getting a bunch of emails about it. Thanks Max. BJ McDonnell
