  1. Hi folks. Have my Donkey Box 2 with me here. $2400, and I can deliver tomorrow anywhere in the Los Angeles area. Works great. I took it by GPI at the beginning of the month and they checked it all out for me. It's a very early model, works great. Ozzie@silverafilm.com for pictures if you'd like. I'm in Culver City. 305-216-8395
  2. I used 1" thick layers of semi stiff foam, I purchased it localy at a place that sells packing materials. An 8Ft x 4ft sheet cut into sheets the size of the Pelican 1650 was $37 out the door, then at home I took the time to cut it, round the corners, and glue it all together. I used 3m Super 77 foam spray from Home Depot to glue it together. And if you go this route, grab plenty of new razor blades. It's amazing how quickly little ole foam dulls razor blades. Ozzie

  4. This vehicle rocks gentlemen. I just spent the last hour driving around taking a bunch of pictures. They were very very nice at the dealership. it drives great plenty of cup holders and tie down points. I'll post pictures later this afternoon when I get back home. salesman at the Cadillac dealership where this car was tells me that they might be available in late July. Looking at it I can't really tell where to cut off excess metal, but it will have to do. The V8 works very well, lots of pickup. Front and rear defrost, rear wiper and wiper mist, the cruise control is on the steering wheel, and like 9 cup holders n 3 12 volt outlets towards the front of the vehicle. the rear compartment up behind the hatch has plenty of room and the gas model.
  5. Just got off the phone with a rep. Curb weight 4985 lbs, Ford 4.6L V8 24 gallon gas tank Mileage has been 13 city/ 18 highway First dealership is in Pembroke Pines, Fl. About 15 minutes from me. I'm on my way there now. I'd have to figure out how to cut 500 lbs off the car in order to increase the gas mileage a bit. I'll report back with pictures later today. Let's see ..... goggles, check.....cutting torch, check....sawzall, check. Ready.
  6. Just looked at the youtube videos and recognized a familiar face Dave Schembri, the CEO was the CEO of Smart car for a while, he did a good job with it, and was very accesible to the Smart owners. Thanks for posting this, I'm gonna go check this thing out this week. I'll post findings. All blacked out, tints, add a GPS, all set.
  7. Hi James, I put in 4 Energizer Lithium batteries when I got it, I turn it on when I get to set, build the rig, then turn it off, and I only need to turn it on at the end of the day to pack up. I have not replaced the batteries, but it has only been 3 work days since then. So I have not tested the battery box to it's limits. The box has a side panel that slides off quite easily, I put the velcro on one side, and then a couple of strips of black paper tape. It's a really nice set up. PS, Look for several different listings on ebay, some are cheaper than others on the shipping. get some friends together and buy like 10 at a time of each. Ozzie
  8. I'll do the investigation myself and report back At first look I thought it was a new car Scam, like many I've seen before with a great car and promises of great prices, but it never gets thru the Goverment Red tape. This actually looks good. I'll see what's up first hnd since it's based here in Miami. I'll report back Ozzie
  9. Hi folks. So we sometimes work in dark enviroments, Studios and stages can be very dark especially where we end up staging our gear and stands. I set off to find an easy and cheap way to light the area. First I thought of making something like what Tom Gleason made for Erwin with a Gooseneck light on the side of the Hill/Gorelock bracket., But that involved running a cable down to a battery. I looked on ebay for some sort of Battery box with a USB connector and an On/Off switch.... Here it is. The link for the battery box is My link Then a short gooseneck LED light for a laptop. Here is the link for that. My link I then added some velcro to the battery box and whala, all done. The wait for these parts to ship from China is like 3 weeks, but total cost is $10. plus the velcro. Here are some pictures on the set. Take care, Ozzie
  10. Hi, The 6ft Triax or Fiber jumpers are like 650 dollars, which is fine if your going to be doing alot of broadcast tethered stuff. Alot of the broadcast trucks are starting to go Wireless for Steadicam ( All Mobile Video is one) Definitely find out if it's Triax or Fiber, some folks call them the same thing, but they are not. As for the Zoom and focus. Do you have a bartech Focus unit? If you do, you can get the hardwired Focus box from Jim for like $100. and tape it to your gimbal. And in a pinch for the zoom, you can attach one of the Tripod handle Zoom controllers to the gimbal, then run both wires around the top of the post and one to the bartech receiver and then to the underside of the zoom lens on the broadcast camera. You'd be holding the Zoom handle instead of the gimbal, so that will take a small bit of getting used to. Whether it's a SOny 1500 or an Ikegami 79 EXIII, etc.. all those broadcast cameras will be basically the same, a zoom lens that you can attach a zoom controller to, and the Triax or Fiber ( preferable) will feed power to the camera and Return video, as well as Tally and communications.
  11. Hi there, triax or Fiber will power the cameras and then the truck will control the iris and paint the cameras on the fly. It will also provide you with communications and Tally light on the camera. You'll be able to connect their headsets directly to the back of the camera. As for tipping your cable puller, nothing. it's their job. If you've never run a concert with a cable before, I would recommend finding a 6ft jumper triax cable if it's a fiber shoot instead of triax, find a fiber jumper. It will do the came as the big thick cable but won't pull anywhere as much as the main cable. Triax used to be the way, and sometimes some venues and live trucks still use them, alot have moved on to Fiber optic cable, which in most cases is a bit more flexible and easier to work with. Ask them if you will need to zoom and focus on your own. Lots of small differences in Live work. Have a great shoot.

  21. Love the Gold Mount, and I've had to use V mounts in the past and they just don't hold on to the mount as I'd like, The Gold mount for me is just more secure!! Just my opinion and experience.
  22. Looking forward to receiving mine. Thanks for making it.
