This account was recently found to have been accessed by an unauthorized third party, who may have used the account in an attempt to defraud other members. We've taken action to restore this account to the original owner, but wanted to let you know to be suspicious of any communication you may have received from them. Nothing is wrong with your account at this time ? this message is just being sent as a precaution. If you have received any messages from that appears suspicious, please feel free to forward them to us at spoof@ebay.com for review." SWEET!!!!!
  8. Hi folks. I'm looking to buy a macbook Pro 15.4" laptop, and since this is the closest thing to a brotherhood I have, I figured I'd look here first. maybe some of you are looking to upgrade the one you have. I'm looking to upgrade the older 14.1 ibook G4 that my wife has to a 15.4" Macbook Pro. maybe a 2.16Ghz or better with the 8x DVD super drive, a couple of gigs of ram or upgradable to such, Clean looking, no dents, etc.. let me know if you have something available and reasonably prices and we'll get it done. Ozzie@silverafilm.com
  9. Bueller? Anyone? PS. Also looking for a 15.4" macbook pro for my wife, Maybe someone wants to upgrade the one they have? let me know. Ozzie@silverafilm.com
  10. Hi Tom, I also reported it to ebay, letting them know it seems the account has been hijacked. The Scammer made the bidding private, so no one can contact the bidder and warn them. Thieves and Fraud criminals need to be dealt with. Seeing this person try to scam others repeatedly gets my blood boiling. And the actual owner of the account is probably not aware.
  11. Just trying to keep folks aware of possible potholes (deep) on the path to rig ownership. Maybe someone should ask for a serial number.
  12. P90X Plyometrics and Yoga X, works for me... Lost 46 pounds and a bunch of inches last year on the program, still keeping it off. Oh, And keep practicing...WITH the RIG on. The muscles that are sore today will gradually get stronger over time. Good luck and welcome.
  13. Hi folks, Has anyone seen this sale? First I want to apologize to the owner if it's a legitament sale. But.... It's a Steadicam Master Elite package. Several pictures, all seems ok, except, I saw there was no reserve and it was at 5K (today it's at 6100.) Then I see the seller has 100% feedback, all good so far, but the account has been dormant since 2003 until like 2 months ago when a couple of super cheap items were purchased to drum up more positive feedback. So... I sent the seller a question asking that if I won the auction, if I could pick up the system in person in Ohio, since I have lots of friends all over the state. I got the response that They do not provide pick up for the unit and they will only ship directly from their shipping department. In the ad it states only Wire into their Bank of America business account will be accepted., No Paypal, No Checks or Money Orders. But the listing does indicate they will accept Visa/Mastercard payments. Private bidding where bidders aren't shown at all, not even feedback rating. Which to me says, no retrievable means of payment should something be a miss. Once again, nothing meant by this only to protect would be investors, this may be a totally legitament deal. You never know... If it's real, someone may get one hell of a deal. 1 day, 3 hours left.......
  14. Hello there. The fiber jumper is 600 bucks. Mohawk makes them. The Tally light box with the sensor at the end of the wire that you tape to the cameras front or rear tally is available from time to time on here. I bought one many years ago but the builder doesn't make them any longer as far as I know. I'm sure some of the others might chime in as to where to get one. If the show has you tethered then you don't have to worry about iris. Only Focus and Zoom. What focus unit do you have now? Because the controler that mounts on the gimbal connects to the focus motor that you provide and then to the zoom remote connector for the zoom. If you already have a bartech focus receiver and a focus motor, you can then get the Bartech hard wire focus box($100) and plug it in to the receiver directly. Then use a ZOE ENG 8 or 12 ($530)zoom controler and if needed the 8pin to 12 pin or vice versa adapter so you can connect that zoom control to either 8 pin lenses or the 12 pin kind. The adapter is like $165. Both the zoom control and adapter cable is avilable from Band Pro or 16x9, Inc. Good luck with the show!
  15. Very cool, I'm glad directors are taking chances like that, It's nice when it all comes together.
  16. Hi there folks, Some or many of you may have some extra parts lying around. I'm looking for the steel or titanium male socket end that's found on the mating end ( vest end) of the EFP/3A, etc... arms. Don't need the part on the vest, Just the part on the arm. Which attaches with the two large eyebolts on he arm.. Anyone? Ozzie
  17. The link worked, Now I'll find a standard flyer LE arm pic and show it to the machinist.
  18. I would totally have the right machinist to make these parts if I needed to when I got a Flyer LE arm. And right here in town. And we can have stuff anodized in any color. Also locally. Charles....Your Album is not currently available. Send me another link if possible. I will show these to my Machinist and then when i find an LE arm, get to work. A Flyer LE arm will help me with those super lightweight cameras. Recently, even the broadcast cameras are getting lighter it seems. On the last job with Wireless HD /SD Link my springs on the 3A gold arm are almost all the way relaxed! Ozzie
  19. Hi folks. Does anyone have a Flyer LE arm for sale? Looking to use it with a Klassen Vest and XCS gimbal. I believe the Flyer LE arm will fit into a standard big rig vest socket and has a reversible socket with pin. But I'm not sure what size the arm post is. Anyone? Email me your best price and some pics please. Ozzie@silverafilm.com
  20. The Human Tripod is the worse!, it's like an insult!, asking you to do a few shots with NO movement at all either before or after. The ladder is a cool one, but the right ladder is imperative. and Yes the "more handheld like" one has come up, I tell them just one word... "no", the steadicam is not for that", and not another word, I've gotten silence and chuckles from different folks. "Can you operate the steadicam in a boat deep sea fishing?, I say, yes, but since the floor I'm standing on is still moving the shot will not be drastically better, and if they insist I ask them to verify with their insurance carrier since it's an added risk. They drop it when I ask them about insurance risks. If you feel pain, danger, etc.. SAY SOMETHING!! that way you don't feel like a donkey later.
  21. Interesting read. I will sometimes get called and told about a project, the PM or Producer will go on describing it in detail, very excited. At some point, I'll be asked if I'm available for cetain dates, if I am I'll say yes, and usually they'll continue describing the awesome, fun project.( insert... "It's Festival Bound", or "written by someone who's thrid cousin WATCHED an Oscar nominated movie", etc..). When they say it will be great working together I ask.. "What's the rate?", if it's too low, whether standard operating, or steadicam, I'll politely say..."Woah,that's lower thn my rate,I'm sorry I wouldn't be able to do it for that rate, but would you like me to suggest some other ops who have just started in the business who I'm sure woud love to work with you"... Sometimes I get a yes, and I pass along some names of newer operators or AC's who I know have the chops to get their start, sometimes, they get insulted and say "no that's ok thanks. But at least I try to get someone work, even if it's not me. The sticking together idea only works when your comparing apples to apples. So many things differ from one op to another. One op may have invested in a Hard Mount, a 2 channel or 3 channel lens control system, low mode brackets, etc.. needed for the job, so rates would be different. Sometimes drastically. One clever way would be to accept the low ball offer but inform them your rig is just that... a rig. and You can get them a great rate on any of the accesories they may need for the job..Say you have just 2 batteries, need extras, $10 each/day, do they have insurance? you can provide it for the gear(only if you have your own). $100/day, Wireless Follow Focus $100/day, Iris, another 100, etc.. I also like the idea mentioned earlier of reading the script and then accepting or declining based on what you think... Also ask to see a shot list, etc.. this will tell you if a 300/day job will be 8 hours of stairs, Always ask for a safety grip, ( tell them it's to protect their film from seizure incase of a liability situation. Communicate, Communicate Communicate. The online sites are not always scams or all bad..I once found a job on Mandy.com, it was asking for a Steadicam Op with gear and the job was on film. I inquired and they asked for a reel, I mailed it to them (many years ago) They called me and told me that they were spending all their money on the equipment and it was a music video, they needed 4 days. I asked what are you shooting on?... here comes the deciding factor. They tell me "35mm Anamorphic", I was floored, I asked to see a shot list, they faxed it to me that day, it was so detailed, I was very very impressed. I told them I live in Miami but would be happy to work with them if they flew me to New york and put me up. They agreed but only had fly money, no hotel money. I went, worked the 4 days, Slept on their futton, they fed me like a king, shuttled me everywhere and I came home. 1 week later I had a Digibeta of the raw footage and the finished music video...... 3 months later they called me saying they wanted to do the same thing, but it was 3 days long and they had flight, insurance, hotel and 2000 for the 3 days....I did it, They grew as a company and got better clients and kept hiring me, flying me up each time and each time the pay was higher, until our schedules didn't match on several jobs and they found someone else, But it goes to show, there are good apples in the online adds... Now if it happened today and they were shooting on a Sony vx2000.... that would be a different story. Shooting on a big format requires a level of dedication to the organization of everything that's to be captured or recorded....enough ranting, Practice practice practice, you'll all get there, don't give up, it's a beautiful craft, nailing a shot always feels great.
  22. The fact that the poster did not post his name in the response is a cowardly sign, and the ACTOR should not be doing this in the first place, a great actor is nothing if the project doesn't come together. if a great performance isn't captured, recorded and edited right, then displayed properly it's all crap. Oh well. Let's figure out who this is and post their name. call a spade a spade dammit.
