  1. Just a bit of info....I recently had my 2000 repaired and asked about having it upgraded to 3000 and Peter Spinelli (CIT East) informed me that he no longer does upgrades from 2000 to 3000. I believe it's because it costs as much or more as just getting a new 3000.
  2. I've flown a GII twice. It's a beast. It's no problem for a master arm (that's what I own), but it's no picnic either. I think the conversion kit takes about 6-8 pounds off the camera. Those #'s may be wrong, but that's what I remember hearing. I flew a GII with a Panaflasher once as well. Now that was fun!
  3. Don't worry about it! Once you start walking operating becomes much easier. Happy birthday!
  4. Ahh, but when a BFD breaks it's fixed and back to you in 1 or 2 days. I've had a couple of minor problems over the last few months (A.C broke off the antenna) and Jim fixed the problem and sent it back out so quick I barely noticed it was gone. Thanks again Jim for a great product with great service!
  5. Wait a minute! I thought Victoria operated goofy foot!
  6. So how much is the new lightweight vest going for? Am I correct in assuming that it's a bit cheaper than the traditional?
  7. Oh jeez, I was just kidding. That's kinda scary.
  8. That sounds like a pretty silly rumor to me. It's even sillier if it's true. And why 2010? Why not 2004? The Oscar's will be over pretty soon you know....and it doesn't take 6 years to burn some DVD's.
  9. Saw a listing for a family on eBay once... :) I bet they sold for less than that pencil! How much did that end up going for anyway? Anybody here the proud owner?
  10. Now that's a good one! I'll have to hire a wife and kids the next time I need a check. Anybody know of any famlies for hire? :P
  11. I have to agree. Wonderful work! And a great movie to boot.
  12. Vinny, You should probably call Kyle Young. He's in the office and will be able to answer your questions or put you in touch with someone who can very quickly. I'm sure Frank Rush could help you too, but his help may just be to have you call Kyle or someone else at the L.A. office. Good luck.
  13. Gotcha. That makes more sense. Thanks Brian.
  14. I'm sorry if you were offended by my previous statement, but I was merely stating the truth. If you want to keep sending me insulting messages and saying that "I don't mean shit to you dead" (whether in Spanish or English), that's fine, I just don't know what good it's doing anyone. The point I was trying to make before is that there is no reason to respond to every post unless you have something important and valid to say. I really enjoy this board and I look forward to reading the posts everyday and I'd hate to muddy it up worse than it already is by you and me slinging mud back and forth. Life is too short and this board is too good. I say we should all just take a deep breath and get back to our regularly scheduled programming.
  15. Do you have to answer every post?! I could understand if you had something worthwhile to say, but you just ramble about stuff I don't understand because you don't speak English, and it's getting a bit frustrating. I would be happy to fight through the spelling and grammar issues if when I finally deciphered what you were saying it had some meaning. But you just respond to see your words in writing. It's annoying. You don't have to post in every thread. You're even posting more than Phil and he's the one that will never shut up. Give us a break.
  16. Could it be that much of the work there started to shoot in cheaper locations, thereby causing the industry to shrink? Sounds vaguely familiar..... Of course, I'm not saying that this WAS the reason. I'm just asking.
  17. Well, of course it would. If someone posted some beachfront property for sale in Kansas and posted as "Alec Jarnigan" then I would be suspicious. But I think when we're chatting about steadicam we can be "relatively" sure that it's actually Alec posting. It's just easier if we all post are names. That's all he was trying to say. If someone doesn't post their name then you don't very well know who they are do you?
  18. Because a lot of the people on this forum have actually met Alec in person and know he is who he says he is. That's the case with a lot of the people who post here. Most of us know each other or know OF each other. It's only people like you, who post without using their name that cause confusion.
  19. Is it me, or does that arm look like it's upside down? I guess it just looks very horiontal. What's the deal with that?
  20. Funny, I heard the same BS from the UPM and accountant as well. Luckily I've gotten the check now. I had just contacted a relative of mine that's an attorney to write a letter for me. Check came before I got to threaten them, which almost bums me out, considering what a pain in the ass they were to me. I wanted to be a pain in the ass to them as well! Well, at least I got paid.
  21. Or the A.C. on an HD job that asks if you have a downconverter and also tells you that you'll be flying an ARRI 6x6 studio mattebox because he didn't order a clip-on (even though steadicam was no surprise). Huh? No, I don't have a downconverter, and no, I don't think I'll be flying that mattebox. After straightening all that out the rig is up and ready for camera rehearsal he hooks his cloth tape measure to the side of the camera. Me: "What are you doing?" A.C.: "Getting focus marks." Me: "Where's your metal tape measure?" A.C.: "I don't like them." DP: "Hold the frame. Why are you floating around so much?" Me: "I have a measuring tape hooked to the side of the camera." DP: "Why?" Me: "I have NO idea." DP looks at the AC and rolls his eyes. That's just about how well that day went....
  22. Unfortunately, that's proven to be untrue Erwin. It's a good theory, but it hasn't worked. Who cares anymore anyway. It's just comedy at this point.
  23. That sucks Erwin. Let me know what you figure out. I'll do the same. Eric, it seems like you have some insight. If you have any tips I'd love to hear em. Thanks.
