LA Alec Jarnigan get together Thursday Nite!
Brad Grimmett replied to BJMcDonnell SOC's topic in General Discussion
We used to have get togethers at the Arsenal years ago. It was different then, but still a cool place. -

Just look for the group of guys wearing ties and drinking appletinis. We'll be the people making fun of them. -
Dishonorable Productions
Brad Grimmett replied to Larry McConkey's topic in Legal / Business Practices
I'm waiting with much anticipation for the day a producer says that to me! -
Here's his apology for those that are interested. I believe this was on KROQ in Los Angeles. Christian Bale apology

"She"?

I'm in. I'm not sure when Tiny's opens back up, but I'm sure we can find a place.

Thanks Nick, and Charles. I'll try that if I have the same issue again. Although I'm using the accessory port on the side of the camera, not one of the 4 pin ports on the back. Not sure if there are a similar set of settings for the side port as there are for the back ports.

I have the run/stop cable that Preston sells and I use it with my MDR2 and HU3. It's worked fine on every job in the past, but today it wouldn't work for some reason. I've even used this exact camera body with it in the past and had no problems. My 1st wasn't sure what the issue was but thought that maybe a new build on the camera had changed something and caused it not to work. Anyone know what's up with this or have any recommendations for fixing this issue?

Feature Film - Ridiculous rate
Brad Grimmett replied to Nicholas Davidoff's topic in General Discussion
This topic brings up an interesting question. What rate is the right rate on a low budget feature? Lets say it's a $1,000,000 feature and they want steadicam every day. What's fair? $250 is obviously too low, but they can't pay full rate either (or can they?). What's an acceptable rate on a feature of that size? -
Happy B-Day Geoff! Hope you have a good one!

Thanks guys. That's one less thing I have to worry about.

I have a job tomorrow with the HDX900. I've never used the camera before and I'm wondering if it has a built in downconverter like some of the other newer HD cameras. Anyone know? Thanks.

They sure do. I fly a Masters and my plates work great.
-
Well, I'm out. Work has disrupted my social life yet again!
-
You can attach rods to masters plates, but a better solution in my opinion is to get an XCS plate. It's more rigid and easier to mount rods off of.

Who said you were invited Jess?! OK, just kidding. I'm sure we can be persuaded to go out again in Feb.

Saturday sounds good to me.

Judging by the time B.J., Ron, and I had at Tiny's for B.J.'s B-day, I think we should attempt to repeat that performance again (in more ways than one ;). Who's down? I guess we might have to go without Ron since he's bi-coastal now, and not just bi.

I'm blushing!

What the hell is up with all the ropes you have tied off to you and the rig? What's the purpose?
-
Happy Birthday Afton!
-
Cool. Now can you make that smaller!? ;)
-
If someone could figure out a way to harness that and repeat it in machines, they would be a very rich person. Maybe I can transplant some chicken stem cells into my rig....

I won't speak for other people, but I believe a lot of them will agree with me on this. It's not that people think the AMPTP and the studios deserve trust, or that they're right that makes people want SAG to sign a deal. It's the fact that SAG isn't going to get what they want, and everyone knows it, so all they're doing is making things bad for themselves and for the rest of us by holding out for so long. If this had only gone on for a week or two, you wouldn't see so many people talking about it. But this has been going on for many months, with no signs of a resolution at any point. Who is that helping? In the meantime, production has slowed to a halt and many people are out of work due to the lack of new production because of the fear of a strike. SAG is wrong to have done this regardless of whether the producers are wrong or not.
