  1. oops... wrong one... You are not kidding Garrett, you were working on it for a long time... what was that 1973 ???
  2. And here some more pictures of the Tango:
  3. Yes, Greg's gyro spuds are a different size. They are larger in diameter then the GPI one, think Master series arm post versus 3A post. I had the GPI set up and you can use all of the mounting brackets on your XCS exempt for the center post clamp (obviously) ... I bought a monitor clamp for the 2 inch post and Greg made me a spud that would connect to it and mate with the GPI style gyro clamp. Power vice... the most power is used to spin up the Gyros, once they are up to speed... they take only a fraction of the power to maintain the 20'000 rpm. If you use the GPI inverter or the Kenyons they have a 4 or 3 pin XLR power input so that you could if you wanted to use a 12 or 24 volt brick to spin them up or to maintain speed if the rig is powered down... usually the momentum of the tungsten rings is that large that you can easily disconnect them for up to 15 min and they will be very quickly to maximum speed by the time you get comfortable on the insert car or bike and before they yell action. Just look out, the gyros will heat up quite a bit, that is normal and they were designed to be spinning for a very extensive amount of time... heat will not kill them, unless it's not excessive... but shock will. Any larger hits or drops will end your day very quickly.... and servicing them is not cheap.... oh were was I... oh yes... the spuds are a different size.
  4. Here another way... but makes for a very bottom heavy rig... the one above is better and less rebalancing as you are adding the same amount of weight above and below the gimbal... it's quick to go back to Gyro-less as you just have to crank down the arm...
  5. This is my old set up... (Simon Jays taking it for a spin at Keslow a couple of years ago... 2002 I think) But that's how I used to mount them. One on top with PRO plate and one on the center post, via a clamp that Greg made for the PRO spud, below the gimbal. Worked like a charm. The Kenyon inverter is mounted on the back AB plate and is powered of the sled.
  6. Never mind the prize... or the weight... what about the mounting bracket...
  7. So why are you not putting this add in the wanted section?
  8. http://www.steadicamforum.com/index.php?showtopic=10809 Contacted them, was promised a loaner, never heard back from them... oh well.
  9. Iain, As I appreciate any new or crazy modification... (And I like this one), you are aware that you just effectively void any warranty on your vest, Right? I am not seeing that fairing well with GPI. Every time you lengthen the attachment point or change the angle of attack you are compromising the adjacent parts and are inflicting increased stress. Any wear or tear from here on will be blamed on the new piece... Even though it doesn't look like a big deal, I can see stress cracks appearing eventually at the chest spar... Just saying... I had four PRO vests over the years and must say that I am used to operate that way... did I miss the adjustability? Yes, but looking back at the 3A vest that I used to fly and I must say that I adjusted it once and left it there... Very close to where the PRO socket block lives... Oh well... 10. Okay bring it on.... Mine is smaller then yours.... ehm... wait a minute....
  11. Oh great... another one. If you have to ask, you don't know what we need or are looking for... Sticking with my TB-6. Erwin

  13. A little late now... I have an old beat up Panavision 4x5 with 2 filter trays (pulled out of the trash at Woody...) that attaches via dog bones to my iris rods. Actually used it for the first time last Sunday for a Music video... they somehow forgot to order any steadi gear... no mags, no 100%, no mattbox... (no prep) saved there ass as we had up to 4 filters up... Oh well...

  15. Stupid question but did you try and contact Tiffen? I provided them with most of the old Cinema Products Manuals that they scanned... Try Peter Abraham: pabraham@tiffen.com I have only hardcopies.
  16. Hi Jorge, Welcome to the Forum. First of all, please change your name to your full real name. If not, this post will be removed, we don't have many rules but that one is crucial. The PRO size is 5/8" and the Tiffen size is larger, 3/4" (I believe, please correct me if i am wrong). GPI used to make delron sleeves that could be inserted in the Master/Ultra Arm... as a step down to be able to use different lengths PRO Arm posts... at least they used to. Try and contact them to double check. I have Peter Abraham P.O.M. system which consists out of 2 Arm post converters (Master/Ultra Arm to PRO/3A Gimbal and PRO/3A Arm to Master/Ultra Gimbal. Did you check if Tiffen had something similar? I thought they did. Good luck, Erwin
  17. I don't think anybody would make that mistake...
  18. Dobro jutro Marko... ili bolje dobar dan. Not making fun... Innovation is supposed to go forward. For his market I am sure it works and it is... never going to take off here dough. We abandoned the wired units decades ago... if he caters to the low budget, then I will move it to the newbie section and not comment on it. BUT: If you are trying to cater to a certain professional market, at least appear professional. Operating with bad form and trying to sell us on a new product... not going to happen. Also coming on this forum and toting the horn that you are just doing it for a year and anybody can do that... is not going to help your case. Remember the Insurance company that had an"op" operating a steadicam while looking through the eye piece? Makes me dismiss the product as they don't appear to know what we do for a living. Your call.
  19. I knew I've seen it before... wait: And I know its about the product, but please... operating above the gimbal???
  20. I knew it! Garrett is a time traveller.
  21. Just read that in the Film and Digital Times: "Aaton Penelope-D (Digital) The eagerly awaited Aaton Penelope-D Digital Magazine will have her world premiere at this year’s NAB. She snaps onto the Aaton 35mm Penelope, which will become the first hybrid 35mm camera–numérique et argentique (digital and silver). At last week’s AFC Micro Salon, Jean-Pierre Beauviala told me that Penelope-D’s 95% Pixel-Fill Ratio CCD chip is 3-Perf size (perhaps a new sensor from Dalsa), and might reach a dynamic range of 13 stops. More details coming soon…" And next we will see Digital Bolex's and Eymo's... http://www.aaton.com/products/film/penelope/
  22. It's hard to do a diagnoses over the phone or over the net without seeing the set up first hand... I had people call me about a steadicam failure and trying to explain and trouble shoot over the phone... after i showed up on set and saw the set up it took me about a minute to trouble shoot in that instance they had a modified sled and one of the switches was in the wrong position... Just out of experience with the Preston... If you have difficulties to rotate the barrel by hand, the Preston will not pull it. I had Zeiss Superspeed bind on me the moment I put the LMB-5 back on. I had dm-2's burn out (3 times) and the DM-1 just go bonkers on me... I had one AC recalibrate the lens with out the mattbox and the moment he put the box back on he lost 2/3 of the throw... I guess you know where I am going with that... Shit happens and stuff changes. See if anything changes during the the pull. Is a cable getting in the way. It's a Primo so it's not breathing... no related problems there... It happens with different lenses so the lens isn't the problem... Did you use different Motor cables? I had faulty cables in the past that got pinched and had intermittent trouble... Did the MDR dropped or did it go through a big shock... was it shipped since the last time... is anything rattling inside... Did you try several different motor, cable, lens configurations? Different MDR, hand-unit set up... running out of ideas... if it's a software problem send it back in... eliminate all possibilities and at the end you should left with the Gremlin in your site... That was an utterly useless post, Sorry. Good Luck, Erwin
