  4. While compyling the Archives for Tim, I came across a couple of older pictures that I took... And I wanted to share with you guys... Let me know if that's okay? A couple of examples: Jacques Jouffret (PRO Workshop 2000)

  6. Glidecam Gold Arm... a funny story. I was with Colin Hudson at Alan Gordon yesterday to check out a Mitchell 65mm Camera for Steadicam use. The sales person asked us to check out the Glidecam Gold Arm as well (As they are a Glidecam dealer) and to compare it and tell him the difference to a PRO Arm. Colin used his PRO Vest as I used my DSD. The Arm fit nicely in my Vest (Not my favorade Arm) then it was Colins turn to try, it fit again nicely in the Socket Block and he tried the Arm with his PRO. Then... he wanted to go back to his PRO arm... he wanted, if he just could get the Gold arm out of his Socket Block of his Vest.. it was wegded in solid... we tried everything to get the Arm out, for about a half hour... finally we had to get a hammer and put it to use... after a couple attempts trying not to damage anything... it worked. The sales rep was already teasing us:"How do you like your new Arm...?" Man... that Gold Arm sure liked the PRO Vest... Anybody had any similar experiences? 7. Hi guys, Just ask here... But anyways, I will reply here so I don't have to do it several times. The Camera was a 35mm SL Cine. The Camera weights in at 5.5 lbs including the Black widow (Videotab) plus Lens, Mattbox, Mag, I don't think that there was any film in the Camera. It balanced quite nicely with the stock LCD and one Hytron 50. Drop time? No idea, I think that Charles or Garrett could give a better idea... Here one more pix: Roland Katz (the biggest guy) with the mini and Courtney Moser (our smallest) with the master and Compact... That what you see here is the Prototype Mini Arm that worked soooo well, but will never see the light of day... So basically you can/could balance heavier Cameras on the Mini, if you had a better arm... Erwin Landau, SOC www.landaucamera.com
  8. Not Steadicam related, but nice... While visiting the LA Autoshow, I came across a short film. For the guys in LA that want to check it out it's in the KENTIA Hall beneath the South Hall at the CASECAM booth. "C'est un Rendevouz" by Claude Lelouch Released by: Spiritlevelfilms It's 9 minutes long. Price: $27.71 (No I did not buy it...) Shot back in 1977, it's a high speed drive through downtown Paris (POV), shot of the hood of a Ferrari 275 with a 35mm camera, reaching speeds up to 140 mph. It was shot on a sunday at 5:30 AM, no streets were blocked or any permits pulled, you can see the driver run a couple of red lights, almost running over birds and pedestrians... With the surprise ending, that the driver was late for his date. Looked very impressive... check it out. Erwin"speed/film freak"Landau, SOC www.landaucamera.com
  9. It's under: "Sled/Arms and Vests" Look for: "Frankenstein Mini" Who would thought that the ProVid Gimbal actually would fit the Mini... right? Erwin"enough for today"Landau, SOC www.landaucamera.com
  10. So here the picture: The rig was put together at the Malibu Workshop back in January 2000. GB is flying a Mini with a ProVid Gimbal topped with Charles Papert's SL Cine 35 and using his PRO arm with an arm adaptor... Talking about mix and matching... 11. Just trying to help... Relax and open your mind... Many parts will fit some will not, If you don't try how will you know. There are many EFP Gimbals sitting in various garages, just waiting for a new incarnation. Yokes, Forks, Handles, bearings, Cups, etc. many things will fit many will not. He doesn't need a hole one just some parts that will fit. If you ask me dump the EFP (Gimbal) and go with almost any one out there that states a 1.5 inch post diameter... I wanted to add a picture of a rig that we put together at the Malibu Workshop back in 2000. GB is flying a Mini with a ProVid Gimbal topped with an SL Cine 35 and using the PRO arm with an arm adaptor... Darn... See here I can't include a picture... I'll try and post it somewhere else... 12. Hi Lawrence, You should know that it takes more to set me off, or maybe not... Knowing I mean... The Thumbscrews solve the "take it off" factor quite nicely, but what then? You still need the means to attach it to the camera. And also never under estimate the Sexy factor... we are still only Steadicam Operators and the Sexy factor is still very high... And of course it has to be ridgid don't forget vibration, this darn vibration... Erwin"Also don't take me to serious" Landau, SOC www.landaucamera.com BTW: I never meant for my MDR to go onto a crane... I just want to be able to use it when I do handheld... to make MY life easier.
  13. Look!!! Found a low res Picture of the PRO Lite... Erwin"PRO Lite Lover" Landau, SOC www.landaucamera.com
  14. Woops... didn't mean to do that... But Tim... I guess that answers my question of beeing able to post pictures directly from the Computer... Erwin"Not as stupid as... okay, just got lucky"Landau, SOC www.landaucamera.com
  15. Depending on how much the pin caps were torqued you will need 2 of these wrenches. (PRO Arm Wrench) Actually always use two, it's way easier. If you use any other tool it will scrach up the pin caps and/or the A link. I'm sure the owner wouldn't apprechiate that. Also if you don't torque them down enough, you will lose the caps... in the worst case scenario the vertical axle will fall out too. You could give GPI a call (818-982-3991), maybe they can send you a set. Or if not... Where do you live? Send me your FedEx Number and I can send it out to you. Let me know. steadicam@landaucamera.com Cell: 818-448-2639 Erwin"trying to help"Landau, SOC www.landaucamera.com
  16. Hi Tim, I know you have to upload the images first onto a website and then link it to this one... Could there be a second function, without loosing this one, to make it possibel to also upload pictures straight from ones Computer? Of course limiting the size of the picture to web size, so that you don't end up like the Steadicenter with 700kb images. I'm sure we would see more images getting uploaded, if that was the case... At least I would. Thanks again, Erwin"Picture, Picture on the wall...eh...Computer"Landau www.landaucamera.com
  17. Hi Tim, Thank you for all the answers and bearing with me... one more: Sometimes when I post and I go to the Posting set up it will give me an additional feature after "Post Icons" that says "Attachments (limited to 75K)". Is that suppose to be there and why isn't it there everytime? What is it for? Also could that be used to up load pictures? Erwin"still no clue"Landau, SOC www.landaucamera.com
  18. Thank you Tim. I'm learning... Erwin"I can see clearly now..."Landau, SOC www.landaucamera.com
  19. I submitted it to PERA. It used to be very easy to specifically look for Steadicam and all kinds of equipment related to Steadicam would pop up, since they upgraded the website, you have to look specifically for "PRO" sometimes for "George Paddock" or "Steadicam" etc... to try to avoid the last 30 Arri 435 that got stolen last week... I just thought that here everybody is on on a fairly regular bases and can easier and quicker see and act on stolen or lost Steadicam equipment. Greg Bubb, if you contact him, will put up stolen XCS equipment but only his equipment. Just a thought, don't just throw everybody stines at once... Erwin"Just a thought"Landau, SOC www.landaucamera.com BTW: Jim look I'm advanced... I'm just wondering what it would say if you hit 4000 posts as Phil had managed... "all mighty member"????
