  1. I was at GPI today and wanted to checkout there new Bracket System for the Preston (see website:) http://www.pro-gpi.com/dovmount.htm It attaches the MDR (motordriver) via a Dovetail system to the FF Bracket of the rig. It facilitates the removal of the MDR while held in place by two thumb screws. Very nifty... for handheld, crane, etc. Unfortunately it will only work on the specifically made for the Donkey Box 3 FF Mounting Bracket. (Jim... relax, they have a little Dovetail adapter that will screw on to all FollowFocus adapters that have the PRO hole paddern, like the BFD, the original Preston Bracket, etc.) That means if you want to use the new dovetail system on your old D-Box 2 or the like, you will not be able to... at least for now. If you want to use your old Follow Focus on your new D-Box 3 , you just need a little adapter... So... How the hell am I going to mount that thing to my rig.......... 3. I watched Kill Bill at home again Yesterday (Don't you love the Academy screeners!!!)... Anyhow... The Blood, and there are Galones and Galones of it sprayed, spladdered and buckets spilled. Larry How did you manage to keep the rig clean, rain gear all the time? Did you used Golf shoes to make sure not to slip? (Sorry just a joke). A friend of mine and fellow operator had his rig splattered with fake blood a couple of months back, now after seeing it again and the fact that he never cleans his rig, the fake blood started to disolve the platting... Any Ideas how to protect you and your rig effectivelly? So far I only got hit by Birddroppings, burning Blackpouder (I strongly advice against it), Monkey shit (Also A chimp has to go sometimes) and the like... Anyone? No one? Bueller...? 4. Let's revive that topic shall we? A couple of weeks back I saw a very nice Movie called "Stuck on you" with Greg Kinnear and Matt Damon. It's about siamis twins where one of the two (greg) wants to become an Actor. They move to LA and he actually scorse a part in a series, as nobody is supposed to Know that he is logging around his brother, they frame Matt Damon out all the time which looks like very bad daytime drama footage shot by Camera Operator/Steadicam Colin Anderson. (Just that part, the rest looks like the real great stuff he does). During the film you will see Colin walking throuht the frame twice with his Steadicam. In one scene you can see him, after a yelled cut, him walking to dock his rig and pick up his cellphone in typical LA tradition, actually EVERBODY is picking up his cell in the backround... welcome to "our" LA film set... Check it out, it's worth seeing (not only because of the operator inshot, but the subject matter...). Erwin"always looking for a glimps of rig"Landau, SOC www.landaucamera.com
