  1. Jon I have a SmallHD DP7-HB for sale. Are you still looking for one ? Kurt Warner
  2. I put my $100 down last July and my DP7 Pro HB arrived today. I've had it on about an hour and all the menu features and picture are working as promised. I have a studio shoot tomorrow and plan on using it then. B)
  3. Pascal I own a BFF focus unit,Analog with a FMG-6 motor that I'm putting up for sale next month. I have a few more booked days then I can part with it. If your still looking next month e-mail me and I'll send photos and Serial numbers. Listing price is $3000. USD Kurt Warner kurt@ level86.com
  4. I know this is a old topic and most of the focus has moved on to other things on the Forum but I just wanted to comment on the G-50 upgrade by Tiffen. I bought my arm new back in 2006 with my Archer 1 package. I won't go into the pros and cons of the arm since that's been done in much detail in the previous posts. The main thing i'd like to say is that I'm very happy with the upgrade. I don't have the cash for a new arm but the upgrade is as close as it comes for me. It tunes better, feels better and the Geo feature works better as well. If you have a G-50 now ,and your not sure about sending in for the upgrade or buy a new cart this Christmas , snap out of it. I don't work for Tiffen and Never have. Derek in Glendale was clear about the schedule and timeline. They did a great job.
  5. I just got an E-mail from Teradek, since I was on the pre-order list , that Bolts are shipping. I placed my order which was limited to only one TX/RX for $1990 USD plus 3-day shipping for $29 USD. I'm hoping to get the unit next week and I'll post again with my feedback. If your on the pre-order list you can also choose to get one TX and two RX , sorry but I didn't see the price for that combo.
  6. J.P. Did you order your unit direct or thru a dealer in the US ? I'm very interested in your review of the system since I'm waiting for more info from them on stock and pos ordering myself a two motor system. Thanks in advance! Kurt
  7. Robin and Phil I was able to order the correct Hirose Din plug from DigiKey and make a Tally cable for my Archer 1. For anyone esle who has always wanted that red LED on your stock 7" monitor to work, here's the part number. Digi-Key Part ---- HR212-10P-8P (71) , Cost was $9.06 USD Once you get the plug just solder a photocell to pins 7 and 1 as listed in the above posts. The photocells can be purchased at any hobby shop . In the States just go to Radio Shack and get a 5 pack for $3. Kurt
  8. Phil Sweet, Thanks for the info. Making a break-out box is a great plan. I'll let You know what I end up with. Kurt
  9. Archer 1 Owners Does anyone know what the Lemo 8 Monitor cables pin-outs are on a stock Archer 1? I'd like to have a cable made to power other monitors. Thanks Kurt
  10. James Yes, that is the one. I tried to order it direct from Adaroma's web site but it keeped locking up when I got to the shipping section. I just went to Amazon.com and found that they listed it for Adaroma and just used Amazons site to order it. The unit ships with 4 extra batteries as well. I had it inside a week.
  11. Lars I picked mine up over here a few weeks ago after seeing Frederic's video. The US source is Adaroma camera in NYC for $38 USD. I love the fact you can program the thing so if your velcro, or in my case and old Hotshoe, is not level you can quickly program it to the true level. Thanks Frederic for post this info. Lars, I hope all is well with you my friend. I've attached a picture of my new monitor arm for my Archer. You'll see the Digital level attached to the top of the LCD.
  12. Frederic Ever since you posted the info on the Ford Transit Connect last year I thought that it would be worth the wait. Well after 12 months of digging for details about the North American version of this Euro Award winning truck and calling my local Ford dealer over and over, asking him to give me pricing so I can place my order I find out this week that the base cargo model is over 20K. What the hell! Last year Ford was leaking that it would start at 12K so I was ready to buy one with extras for just over 15K. I believe that it is worthy of the praise that it’s gotten in Europe with the great 4.0 liter Diesel engine but 20K+ for a petrol Focus motor and a redesigned look. They should have given us a diesel for the American market and keep the look the same to keep the costs down. I would rethink it if they gave us the Euro version. I'd love to buy a Detroit auto but not this one.
  13. Colin Your comments on the Archer are "Spot ON". I couldn't agree more on each point. I'm very pleased with my Archer but you spell it out very clearly. If you only need 12v spend the extra 10k on a BFD, wireless video and /or a Klassen vest. Travel Safe

    Archer sled

Eric Nice job on the upgrade. WOW !!!! I've been trying a few split collars on the lower 35mm section and using "off the shelf" brakets to get the Monitor up off the stock Archer base. I've had mixed results so far. You went all out and replaced the base section all together. I'd love to hear more about how the new sled is with some of the larger Film / HD cameras. Also if Hofmann is thinking about making this for other Archer owners?
  15. All Wow, I Love it. The cargo area nice and rooooomy. I found web site ( Below) that put the selling price for a 2010 in early 2009 at 12k-16k USD. I'd love a Dodge Sprinter with that great diesel but 30K, No Way! Link : http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com...sit-connect.htm
  16. Hello Has anyone shot a 5k run from the rear of a Mule? Did you find that it worked well and did you need to use a intercom with the driver? Any insight would be a great help! Thanks
  17. I just worked on a corporate production that was all about this new type of display. The Technology is called organic light-emitting diode (OLED). It's been in R&D for years and it's now just making it to market. Sony just had their demo OLED's on display for the first time 2 months ago at a trade show in Europe. Good Things - Low heat, Flexable, Thin and Bright. Bad Things - 3x the price of LCD & Short display life. To find out more just Google "OLED" . Don't get me wrong, they will replace LCD displays... someday.
  18. Chris You can read through the 2006 post of options that was started by Mikko Wison back on July 5,2006 when he recieved his Archer. Most of us Archer owners have fabed brackets that slide onto the lower two rods and doubles as wieght and/or DC power for a 24 volt upgrade. I made mine out of a few peices of cherry and attached an IDX V-Mount w/ power tap. A easy fix is to just take a spare battery and gaffer tape it to the lower rods. I've seen this on a few Archers an I think it's used in the Steadicam workshops. I know what you're talking about with the G-50 and a light camera. I can tell you that when I first recieved my G-50 I was in tears and had a few blisters turning those knobs with all my might. They will get easier after just a few jobs. I did get the tention light enough to fly a Panasonic 100 w/ a matte box and a Bartech BFD without any extra weight. I shot a job last fall with an HVX-200 and it fly fine with the same set-up. http://www.steadicamforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3237 Welcome to the Club :D
  19. Norm Gigiwave makes a great product. You can rent one of thier microwave system with a 1.5 frame delay from Total RF. I had a month rental from them and the system was rock solid. I did have a transmitter go down and I had one in Orlando the next morning by 8am, great service ! They are in you PA as well. The system will run you about $1000 a day but its the way to go. I think the camera in the picture is a Sony D-30 Total RF 777 American Drive, Bensalem, PA 19020 USA (215) 633-1000 creilly@totalrf.com
  20. Dave / All I?ve been wondering when the next price drop in 7 to 10? LCD ac/dc monitors will happen so I?ve been watching to see if Panasonic will lead the way. It?s been a week since NAB 07 and I?m really surprised at the lack of buzz about small pro LCD monitors. It seems that the consumer 27? and up LCD TV's keep falling and the pro display?s over 300 nit are still priced the same as 06. I did find that this new Panasonic 8? is 400 nits and will have a waveform feature. Panasonic also is marketing this as a ?Viewfinder? because with a special cable and a Panasonic camera, you just plug?in and now all your VF displays are on the monitor out. Sounds OK but I know that the SDX900 has menu options to send all VF display items to your monitor out BNC now. Not a big deal in my opinion. The price I found was $2700 MSRP. I?d like to know if anyone had the chance to drive it at NAB and get their input on the picture. I hope they didn?t put it in a glass box like the HVX200 / P2 camera a few years back. I sold my Transvideo last fall and I do miss it so.
  21. Colin I know what you speak of my friend. My Archer monitors mirror fuction acts the same as yours. I first thought it was operator error but as you said the image is still flopped left/right. My answer was/is to remove the 2 screws and flip the monitor 180 degrees. The cables are long enough and it only takes a minute. Cheers
  22. Hello Archer owners I wanted to pass along some service information that I received yesterday from Kyle and the great service staff at Steadicam in Glendale, CA. I found that the Audio (RCA) jack on the rear of my monitor was very loose and I was certain that the retaining nut on the back side was about to take a walk inside the unit and would short something out. I called Kyle and he had the answer for the shop in less than 90 sec. and I?m passing it on to you with Kyle?s compliments. 1. Take the monitor off the rig and place it on a padded surface. 2. Find 2 old Credit cards or any card of that size and thickness and apply double stick tape to one of the long sides of the card right along the edge the entire length. 3. Place the monitor face up with the knobs away from. Find the groove between the outer plastic frame, which is rounded over on the outside edge and the rectangular monitor casing. The monitor is the same one as the Flyer it?s just in this larger housing. 4. Insert the first card with the tape facing towards the glass in the groove on either the left or right of the screen. The entire card will fit in the groove with some room on the top and bottom. Now insert the second card on the other side with the tape facing the glass or center. 5. OK now, stand the monitor up and tilt it slightly forward so that gravity can help you at this point. Alternating between each card slide them up and down the groove while applying slight pressure in the direction away from the glass or center. The objective is to depress the 4 tabs that are holding the monitor in place. This may take some time but you can hear them ?Click? when you release them. 6. The monitor should fall out of the opening when you?ve found all four. The monitor is connected to the circuit board by one cable that?s just long enough to lay it face down on the padded surface and get in there to tighten things up. Warning ? Kyle warned me not to over-tighten the audio jack because they are known to strip out very easily. I used a light hand and a drop of Lock Tight which should keep it from loosening up on its own. I'f you'd like to see some photos of the unit opened up, just e-mail me and I?ll send them to you. Thanks again to Kyle for this information. I'm sure this will save other Archer owners time and money.
  23. All I was just watching the Open back here in the States and saw a nice shot of an Op on a Handsfree ( Large Wheel ) getting some great shots of the golfers walking off the tee box and down the fairway. It was in an airport bar in Indy so I don't know if they spoke about the set-up but all the guys next to me at the bar all commented on the rig. Nice :)
  24. Mikko and Lars Your rod mounting brackets are simple, low cost and may I say brilliant. I was set to build a 2 lb monster  . I took a long time last night studying the sled and I agree with you both on the simplicity of the rod bracket. My IDX batteries are light so when flying a small prompter I have to move the battery quite far out but I?ll just make a few rod extensions so that the bracket stays centered in the post. Lars, as I stated in my last post, I?m looking for a set of Antlers. Did you make yours? It?s very had to find good photo?s of them even on Steadicenter so I have no clue if they?re worth the street prices that I?ve seen. Can you tell me about yours? You can send me an e-mail if you?d like. Again guys nice work !!! B)
