  1. Thanks for the link Bill I'm still requesting you guys upload info, thoughts and pictures of all the toys your getting a chance to play with. Remember last IBC here in Europe, I believe a few of the board members actually spent some time posting some great info and pics so come on you guys.......where's the little voice of opinions?
  2. Well, the show's been open for 2 whole days now and not one sniff of a picture of new bit's n' bob's or for that matter new technologies (HDV etc) come on guy's drag yourselves away from the exhibits for an hour and upload some of those pictures for us unfortunates who can't get out.
  3. Motion Control is the only way to do this shot correctly. Doing it using a dolly is gonna be real tough, even with the best grip in the world. But there's no way I'd sign up for using steadicam. I hear it too many times on sets now, "we'll fix it in post" what you don't hear are the poor post guys screaming and pulling there hair out. So get the right tools to do the right job.
  4. Well, for all you lucky folks who can visit NAB this year it would be great to see new technologies and thoughts posted on the forum for us unfortunates who either don't have the time or resources to get over there. Look forward to the news reports that will be forth coming (please).
  5. What are the union rules for under age operators!!!!!!! Talk about slave labor Erwin.
  6. Thanks for the heads up Mitch. I've been using PayPal so far with no come backs to date. Jim, when you say "I hope this unit is still actually for sale. If this is the unit I think it is, it was sold to someone else last week" does that mean you know of another purchaser of the equipment or did you mean you actually sold it your self? Thanks
  7. Hi Folks, I've just won the following on ebay. Brand new BarTech Remote Follow Focus Device, with Panavision power cable. Used M26P Heden motor with bracket and cable. (Follow Focus and motor may be sold separately.) for a suprisingly low cost ($2500 US). The seller has no ebay history and seems to be based in Canada. I've requested the serial numbers for the units so that I can then talk with Mr Bartell to see if he can shed light on the units (i.e if they are stolen or legitimate) but so far haven't had a reply. Firstly, Mr Bartell, can you provide a history if I can supply serial numbers? Secondly, Is this too good an offer to be true, has someone had any Bartech equipment stolen recently. If so get in touch and I'll let ebay know that one of there members is possibly dealing in stolen goods. Rich "no such thing as a free lunch" Steel
  8. Hi Tom, Regarding length of your showreel. If you haven't captivated your prospective client in the first 30 seconds (that's why TV Ad's are so short) then forget it. `most directors, producers and DOP's never have enough hours in the day to sit down and watch a 3+ minute showreel. However as I said if you spark something within them in the first 30 seconds then you may well be onto a winner and they may well sit and watch the rest. Regards
  9. Hi flemming, I had exactly the same problem. I've got a Master Sled & Gimbal and started noticing way to much play between the gimbal yolk and gimbal. If you have a Master Gimbal then speak to the tech guys at Tiffen, they'll email you a step by step guide to Re-Centering the unit. I did it and have to say it was a bugger, lot's of trial error but be patient you will get it eventually.
  10. I'm with the same insurance broker. Can't fault them in any way. Had to make a claim last year, the only downside was I had to pay all the VAT up front for the repair which was a pain but I think that's common throughout the insurance business. You can save some money if you only work in the UK. I've got worldwide cover, it's not much more extra and if you can increase your exess then you save all the more.
  11. Phil, You could always hop onto a sleazy jet and head of to mainland europe and buy them. That way you get round paying any import duties, VAT or shipping.
  12. You should have a voting option of: Do you still have your testicles or do they make nice ear rings for your wife? LOL
  13. Hi Folks, At long last I've managed to get round to my web page design. If you follow the following link, figers crossed it'll to you there. Any and all positive & negative feedback would be appreciated: My New Improved Webpage
  14. PAG Lith's are great but I wouldn't recommend them for long term film camera (big 435's etc) use. Your investment may well last only a couple of months if your mostly film based. I'm no advocate for sony products but I'm Lith based and they are fantastic for video or smaller film camera's especially the BPL-90's unfortunately they stopped manufacturing the 90's. I have used the sony 'V' lock nick's and again they seem to be great with larger currents.
  15. Follow the link below to view some images of the video link that's for sale: VIDEO LINK FOR SALE You can email directly from the link for more specifications etc...
  16. It really depends on where your based in the UK and what kind of work your doing. I'm based in Scotland and find it very difficult to charge London rates unless its film of course. I charge more for film work than I do 'Live" Broadcast work and charge more for corporate shoots than I do Broadcast. Oh! and I never really charge an hourly rate, I personally find it bad business. I charge per day basis (upto 10 hours) regardless if it's an hour long shoot. After 10 hours it's agreed what rate I'm working on before I even set foot on set. I'm now doing more quality rather than quantity work which suits me fine. But when I first got the rig I would work on anything and everything. Finally, I will and do work on student films etc. for cost as long as I can bring something to the production, challenging steadicam shots, and the script/story floats my boat. Rates for me & the gear range from £600 - £1100 (GBP). Rates for equipment only can range from £125 - £500 (GBP) depending on what rig your looking to fly. The above costings exclude VAT, SHIPPING, TRAVEL, EXPENSES & INSURANCE. Regards
  17. That didn't work Tim can you tell me how to post an image. I've looked at the help menu but nothing there seems to shed any light?
  18. Well, I must have been an extra special little boy this year because Santa left a fantastic Sekonic 608C Light meter for me under the christmas tree!!! Oh! and the usual socks n pants and the jumper I'll never wear. Have a bloody great 2004 & don't get 2 drunk on Hogmany. Rich "open up a half stop" Steel
