  1. I am the main moderator on a french forum for the movie and television industry technicians and since we decided to approve every new registrations we have zero problems, before that we started with a "if you don't use your real name you will be kicked" campaign for obvious reasons and it was a very good thing for the forum. We moderators on that forum have a strong presence and don't let people behave badly, we even banned for ever a few trouble makers (a young arrogant self-called "director" who liked to say insanely stupid things many times a day, a DoP who insulted someone in every new post, etc.) and now everything is going perfectly. I wish I could post more there but I decided to post only when wrong informations are posted or when I see what no one else seems to have the answer. I really hope that Tim is going to give you guys more control over this neat Forum. The fact that no one is deleting those spammers accounts is ridiculous, when I watch the Forum's members list and I see that we have 3662 members and most of them are spammers, well... On the forum I moderate I can have up to 5 fake registrations to delete, every day. If you need any help or advices I will be glad to help you. K.
  2. It's Iwerks Ub Iwerks @ Wikipedia Who invented this for example : Circle-Vision 360° Patent @ Google Patents K.
  3. Hi Afton, Did you try this ? : http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv.htm You need to pay for the Studio Pro version in order to not only play but also convert. Or maybe with this or that, good luck ! K.
  4. Everyone is talking about the picture on the main page, but the others are... interesting too ! For example, Never sit while wearing the rig or people are going to put a foot on the lens or try to correct your framing : When you lay down, keep the Vest but you can forget the arm : ... Check the others here : http://eng.dolcegabbana.it/dolcegabbana.as...Section=DESKTOP from number 4 to number 8 (I'm waiting for your comments about number 7 and 8...) K.
  5. About the Panaglide : I really like Garrett's website new look and included pictures. K.
  6. It's both http://www.doggicam.com/bulldog.php But where it is Steadicam related ? And please use your complete name K.
  7. Hi, From what I've heard lately it is not going to be made anymore... The Chrosziel company was purchased and "The Rig" is not in the new managers' perspective. (and it's not even about the two patents infringements...) If someone with more complete info can chime in... K.
  8. Hi Chris, don't tell me you're talking about the girl... K.
  9. As I live in France, in Paris to be more precise and that thing is using the word "Paris" in it's name, like for a perfume you know : Chanel Paris, well... You should stay away from that thing The Arm sucks The Vest sucks The Sled ... and the guy who make that thing claims that he invented something... I still don't see what, but hey, I'm a Steadicam Operator for only 14 years and I only own 5 rigs... He must know better than me. And if you read french you should go and have a look on the french start page what he says about Internet Forums. He commit that stupid writing because a lot of people where saying true facts about his products, unlike his sales bots. And what he did at that time ?, he threatened the french Forums where people posted their bad experience with the gear or the lack of solutions when a problem occurred. (missing parts when the gear arrived, etc.) He even threatened a friend of mine who did a fair side by side comparison with the Flyer. And all the advertising about his products used on TV shows in France is total bullshit ... But I have to admit he sometimes have nice ideas, for example I saw that his latest version is available in Beige, yes some kind of almost white but not really color, everything : Vest, Arm and Sled... That's cool. K. PS : And have a look to his version of the Antlers, now that's a good laugh.
  10. Ok, now stop that Will !!! You really make me want to get myself an Ultimate ! and right now I can't afford it, you're mean ! (ok, that was a pun, maybe not funny, but now I told you it's sarcasm so you know it...) Just wanted to thank you Will and also others like Jerry, Erwin, Peter and Charles for giving us food for thoughts, really thank you guys... K. PS : By the way Erwin, your Cart is just fantastic...
  11. Out of topic, but... From Wikipedia "In the early 1960s, Eastern Air Lines and other airlines began calling their Boeing 727s "Whisperjets", allegedly because a passenger seated forward in First Class, in theory, could only hear the rear-mounted turbofan jet engines as a whisper in the background. This feature also permitted passengers to whisper to each other. Before Boeing built 727s, hearing someone whispering aboard a jet plane was not possible." The only plane maketed as "Whisperjet" is the BAe 146 Kareem "anyway Airbus is better" La Vaullée.
  12. Hi guys, Have a look to this video : CMotion Lens Data They obviously already have a Lenses Database Maybe you could use it. Have a look to the other videos : CMotion Video Player Page It's very interesting. Everything else is here : CMotion Website K.
  13. George Richmond... Alexander... It reminded me that I have a picture that fits both informations, have a look : K.
  14. During the strange lunch sequence in the Museum I have found the handheld style really disturbing. I don't see how some good Steadicam here and there would have "ruined" anything in that movie, or in any other. K.
  15. Finally ! Good news, Kareem - No more part of "other crew" - La Vaullée
  16. The previous Topic is here, check the video in the link from my first message. K.
  17. The Director is not talking about Steadicam in the interview for the simple reason that it was shot handheld, here are two pictures from the shoothing of that sequence : In the interview he forgot to say that to obtain the final shot in the film they mixed several takes... K.
  18. Hi, I wanted to create that very Topic a long time ago but I was too busy, but now I'm adding this message to say that those guys did it again. They modified the english, french, italian, swedish, polish, norsk, turkish and german Wikipedia's Steadicam pages, that's quiet a lot (I saw that they forgot the japanese page, but I didn't check all the possible others), we must do something like asking that that pages must be protected. This is their new contraption... I'm putting the picture here for when it'll be removed from the pages. That's a shame. (and forget the Steadicam/Steadycam thing, that's bullshit) K.
  19. Hi Erwin, Yes, the translation is funny, at best. If you want to have a look to a somewhat more complete interview of Claude Lelouch about his short you can go here : http://www.lesfilms13.com/dea_a_z/news/news87.htm It's on Claude Lelouch's official website, as you will see it's there that I got he picture of the set-up Also, you might want to change the title of the Topic as the name of this short is "C'était un Rendez-Vous" and not "C'est un Rendezvous" Thanks, K.
  20. Here's a picture of the set-up to show that Eric and Afton were right, no Ferrari... No Gyros as you can see (and that was pretty obvious) and FYI the camera is a french "Cameflex" And yes the Director was the driver. About the speed here is a bit of the Director's interview : Quand vous dites "Nous roulions vite" vous parlez de quelle vitesse ? Even if it's in "who knows what the heck the guy is saying" I hope you can read the numbers... I won't discuss no more about this short as it was already discussed here some time ago (do a search) Because if I would, I would have to ask why your "favorite parts are the pigeons" and as I see, ear and read too much stupid things everyday I'm not going to ask for more... K. Edit : Now I see that Erwin merged the old and new threads, great work, thanks for your efforts to keep this place not too messy... Now that I checked back the whole thread, I'll add that he did not run just a couple of red lights but 18 And yes he also took several streets the wrong way...
  21. In the Steadicam accessories brochure that you can find here there is the Flyer's Low Mode Kit and Low Mode Kit parts : And the Low Mode Cage : Prices are here. K.
  22. Hi Charles, I think Mikko's suggestion is good. In fact it looks like that it's what Larry McConkey does, have a look to that picture of Larry's sled : As you can see the remote is velcroed to the top of his TB-6 and a Zalex-like system runs to the on-board DV recorder that sits on the battery support rods. K.
  23. You didn't mean "A search in the Forum..." ? There is at least one thread about that : A Better Video Camera Mount plate ? K.
  24. Looks like it's a real word : http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/alacrity Enjoy the Workshop ! K.
