  1. You would need a shutter in sync with David's rotation speed like in the Zoetrope ;)
  2. Have a look to this : Nike + Apple Video Some nice hard-mount shots, I'd like to try the thing on a shooting, a music video for example... More here : Nike+iPod or Nike+ K.
  3. I am not slandering, it's just my taste, especially when like in your logo the gimbal looks like it's touching the monitor... For me you are very welcome here... The only thing that would make me buy a Steadicam T-shirt would be a very classic and classy thing like this drawing : But you would have to ask Garret Brown's permission
  4. I was aware of the iBot, it's a great thing when you see how much life is hard for people in wheelchairs. Thanks for creating this topic and for the picture, Dean Kamen looks like someone really interesting. So rare to see someone working hard to make things go in the right direction... His page on Segway's web site
  5. I really would like to know who did that video : Destiny's Child - Emotions Tricky job, nicely done
  6. That T-shirt was made during the shooting and given to the crew of Snake Eyes by Larry McConkey, don't know the exact story behind it but it's not hard to figure it out (nice to know I am not the only one who finished a shot with blood dripping from the face !) I worked with a grip on a movie here, he came on set with that very same T-shirt for my total pleasure, he got the T-shirt from his sister who worked on Snake Eyes 100 % true About your T-shirts Jammie, no slogans here to catch me and I don't like the shape of the Masters series sled, the camera has shoulder mags instead of Steadimags, and is it the eyepiece that is sticking out on top ?, no 100 % video top with low-mode plate on it ? K.
  7. Happy Birthday Marc ! Don't know if you received my message yesterday on the chat thing, 34, just like me ! But me soon to be 35, in july (shit, getting old...) Take care
  8. Hello "DonkeyKong", (maybe you should have a look Here) From the 3 Music Videos you propose only the one Operated by Dan Kneece is interesting (he posted about that shooting here a long time ago) The others are too "Basic". If you work as a Steadicam Operator for a few years and work on many Music Videos you will do tenth of them like these two, nothing special in walking backward or sideway for hours keeping a perfect horizon and composition, it's your job. The Massive Attack video is different, first it's a true classic, then you have a strange crane move that ends with a step-off and right away you have that corner that surely had Dan to run, and it's very long, and it's a classic... I don't like the Spice Girls' video... The Music Video from the unbelievably talented Michel Gondry is something else, it was done by the very talented Patrick de Ranter, he is from Belgium but lives in Paris, you can see him in a mirror around the middle of the Video wearing a 3A in the Goofy style he is used to. That Music Video can be found in this must have DVD (If you want Afton I can send you the Video, I have that DVD) Hello Alf, you did that Jamiroquai Video ? Nice work !, I did a Jamiroquai Video too and it was all full length playbacks, no rehearsals, pure madness... It was really great and funny, JK is a nice guy with an incredible sense of the camera, field of the lens and motion. (and with all those nice chicks too...) But the director killed everything during the editing (cut, cut, cut cutcutcutcutcutcutcut...) One the best Music Video ever was done by Valentin Monge, I can't find it online for the moment, it's for an Artist named Sinclair Maybe I can ask to Valentin if he's got a copy. His work is truly amazing, you can't run faster than him and he shows that in the Video, in ultra-narrow corridors and down stairs. And please try to be more selective or we're going to end-up with thousands of cheesy Rap Music Videos Cheers, K.
  9. Hi, I just received the Trailer for the upcoming DVD made with the making-of tapes from the International Steadicam Workshop Paris 2005 on which I had the honor to participate as instructor and Garret and Jerry's Translator. I made that trailer available here : http://homepage.mac.com/klavaullee/.Movies/ISWDVDT.mp4 It's a 21 Mb file so you will have to wait a bit for it to download completely. I hope you will like watching it and that you will see how fun it was for all of us to be part of that great experience... I have been asked to work on the DVD and will let you know how it turns out. I am sure that the guys on this week's Worskshop in Sweden are having a lot of fun too, Enjoy ! K.
  10. It's the antenna of the integrated FI+Z system included in the "plus" version of the 416, that integrated receiver/controller will work with Arri's WRS hand-unit. Kareem "I love Film Cameras" La Vaullée
  11. I have always been fascinated by Helicopters, but the problem is that they can crash even without an engine or rotors failure, There is an Aerodynamical phenomenon called LTE (for Loss of Tail-rotor Effectiveness) To show it I've put a video on my Server : http://homepage.mac.com/klavaullee/Helicopters/ Hopefully this time it ended well but it's extremely scary More about LTE here : http://www.dynamicflight.com/aerodynamics/loss_tail_eff/ From what I've found LTE caused a great number of Helicopter crashes... Even with all that I am thinking about learning how to fly with Helicopters, for the moment I keep learning on a as accurate as possible Professional Flight Simulator Program and I'm getting better and better. K.
  12. The -Video or -Video Assist section could be called -Video Accessories It would be nice to have a -Health section, so we can put all questions about the right shoes or clothes, back or elsewhere pains, stretching techniques and such... Keep up the good work, this place is getting better everyday, K.
  13. Just to say thank you to Tim and the New team of Moderators... again Thanks, K.
  14. I asked for Moderators and Tim gave us Moderators 3 days after... Now I want Peace all over the Planet... ...and a lot of money ! Will tell you in 3 days... K. PS : To put a photo in your post just use ImageShack
  15. Thanks Richard for the Operator's Name Sebastian you are welcome, and you know, you can edit your posts ! Hello Marc, I am back now, happy you liked the video, hope we will chat again soon, Cheers, K.
  16. It looks like Transvideo is now offering a Digital Level on some of their models, it's called "VirtualHorizon", the On Screen Display looks like the one on the Master/Utra Series. Transvideo K.
  17. Hi, I have something here a bit less obvious than "Operator in Shot", just have a look : Don't tell me you can't see it, I saw it the first time I watched the Movie It's a screenshot from Kathryn Bigelow's Strange Days, Camera and Steadicam by the Fabulous James Muro K.
  18. The Arriflex 416 The Aaton XTRprod2 Edit : Link is dead because camera is now revealed and got a new name, see here K.
  19. Hi Brant, I have a friend who tried to contact you by mail to get infos about the Antlers and had no reply, maybe because of that same problem, If you want a free, safe and reliable mail account I can send you a Gmail invite More here : About Gmail or here : Wikipedia Gmail Cheers, K.
  20. To be less Out of Topic unlike my previous Post I would like to say that I am very happy to see the Ultra 2 ! I had the chance to play with the G-70 and it's a Marvel ! The new Vest is much better than the one made for the Master and early Ultras, and I'd like to try the new sled but it looks good... I heard that the Ultra 2 is a work in progress and that the people at Tiffen wants to know what is good and what could be better, so if you have an idea just tell them instead of bashing them here or somewhere else... Fly Safe, K.
  21. I know that Chrosziel made a bracket exactly like the one Charles is describing to mount their Genio focus system receiver on the Master, it was very simple and worked perfectly, I really don't know why so much operators who owned a Genio and a Master over here in Europe used Velcro and tape instead, to avoid paying around 50 Dollars ? Now the Genio is outdated and no longer made but maybe they still make that same bracket for the Alladin and if so that would be very easy to adapt it for any other Focus remote receiver. I owned the Genio for something like 9 years and used it with my 3As with a very simple bracket that placed the Receiver between the Stage and the J-Box and now that I have a PRO with the fabulous Scorpio Focus I have no bracket to do the Job of holding my receiver properly. Eric, how do you do with your Scorpio Focus receiver on your PRO, you put it on the Camera rods just like I do for the moment ? The Scorpio receiver is big and has only two small 15 mm rods to hold it with Dog-bones. I asked to Pedro at Service Vision if something could be made for it but had no answer... I think that's almost what everybody does, putting the Scorpio Focus receiver on the Camera Rods with a Dog-bone, except one guy I saw here in France who made the most bulky, ugly and heavy bracket I've ever seen. K.
  22. Thanks Peter, I did not buy it even if the price at the end of auction was very low compared to the retail price, but Pal Tuners for Cars' Video Set-Ups is maybe a thing to explore... But I didn't took the risk on this occasion as the Remote Control was missing and from what I have found you need it to Store Channels and do pretty much everything with this device, plus it wasn't 100% sure that it was in working order and the set-up looked a bit complex (you need to power the 2 missing also antennas, check it here : Set Up Manual), but thanks for the tip !. I have sent a mail to AValon RF to get prices for their Diversity Tuners. Still looking... Cheers, K.
  23. Hi, I am looking for a Sony TU-1040E, the PAL version of the TU-1041U. By the way, there is a TU-1041U for sale on eBay here : TU-1041U on eBay But no PAL version so far, So if a colleague in Germany, Holland or other European country could have a look in his neighborhood it would be very helpful !. Thanks, K.
  24. I really like the name, "Yo Man !, Ya wanna have a look to da playback on my Supacam ?!?" And Ron should paint the Hummer in Pink, to match his just ordered Pink Supacam... K. PS. : Or Maybe Pink with Red Dots ?
  25. Hi Erwin, Sorry I don't own a TB-6 (I'd love to) so can't really give an answer. But just a question, was it impossible to use the camera integrated Frame-Line generator and switch off the TB-6's Duo on that shoot ? Or you tried and it did nothing better ? Would like to know... (me ?, thinking about upgrading ?) Thanks, K.
