  1. Here is a picture a mate of mine took whilst shooting the 8 hour long rehearsals for this 1 hour long hair gig i did recently. (Didn't even get a break or fed during the rehearsals  )

Turned out pretty cool so I thought I might share.

What is the Red Cable harness? what is that going to?

thats just the triax cable running to the switch, its a sony d50 backpack cam

by the way nick thats an impressive shot! wouldn't want to slip!

  2. yeah something i wont be doing again.. hey the shot worked though i had the ropes going through my vest so i wasn't going anywhere and 2 grips holding onto me while we were in motion, didnt get past 40 anyway.. dont warry my cam tech and i thought it was an absolute joke too but we had to work with what we had.. nothing..

you may also notice the rubber bands on the arm to help carry the weight.. as the flyer isn't designed for that kind of weight

  3. What not to put on a steadicam flyer out the side of a minibus :|

    but hey it worked..

not the most beautiful photo but you get the picture.

Did a shoot recently.. didnt get a photo unfortunately with red, canon zoom lens, wireless follow focus, matte box, top and bottom rails.. wasnt the best idea as the arm wasn't doing anything really had to hold it up and after a whole day got a bit heavy.. but hey it was fun.

  4. Gday all,

Ive been operating my flyer heaps lately on work with a whole range of different cameras, im finding now when im operating im getting a really mean shake on the top of the sled at speed, especially on the bigger cameras 6+kilos. The rig is flying nicely but the whole camera bounced around crazily, this also destroys the shot, anyone else had this problem or know a how to fix it? its getting really annoying as im getting shakes in most shots i do.

    thanks

    Ryan

  5. Hi Ed,

I flew a Red the other day, and we had one of those fancy BNC boxes ont he side. Unfortunately, it still only outputs 720p HDSDI, which wouldn't work with my SD only monitor, so I had to use the Red monitor anyway.

The cheeseplate seemed pretty solid on our rig...

And, against all odds, and being told over and over again that it was impossible, I managed to successfully fly a RedOne on a Flyer

    Hi Peter,

Well done for getting the red on your flyer, im really glad to see that it does work, im bout to do some test footage on the red one. (although he wants me to have matte box, follow focus, 2x hdsdi cables, genlock, hard drive, sdi down converter audio and random crap), so im going to have alot of fun distributing weight around the rig, but hey there isnt a camera ive flown with thats been too heavy which im quite impressed with.

will post photos once done (and video too hopefully)

  6. good day all, i didnt know where to post this, but here it is anyway.

Im shooting a feature and looking to do some steadicam shots, as i cannot afford a big rig yet im still stuck to hiring flyers. we are shooting on a HDX 900, has anyone used this camera on the flyer, or should i say would it work on the flyer? Im yet to measure how much it weighs though, its a simple setup, no matte box, focus or transmitters.

    thanks in advance

    Ryan
