  2. Hi All Currently cleaning up the office and have the following stuff for sale: Pro 1 battery stage 9 Pro 1 batteries, some may need repacking, but they do hold a charge. Pag AR30 charger w/3 PRO 1 battery pigtails Coherent VHF Ch 13 transmitter Preston charger, (old style UHF system), with 2 batteries. I have photos of all the stuff which I will email, so make me an offer. I will ship where ever by what ever method the buyer, (that would be you), wants. cheers Rod
  3. I have a partial Preston FI-Z system for sale. It includes the following items: FI-Z hand unit MDR motor driver and receiver UHF transmitter, upgraded, (by Cramped Attic - Vancouver) Sony Charger SQ950 and 2 Sony Li Batteries. 12-24 volt adaptor 3 antennas FI-Z to Transmitter bracket. The whole system works well. It does NOT include motors, or accessory cables. I updated my system a year ago and kept this as a back up. It is compatible with current motors and microforce zooms. To make this fully functional you will need the following, a motor or two, motor cables and brackets, stop start cables for the appropriate cameras, power cables for your rig or stand alone, and a few other odds and ends that I can't remember. Asking price US$3500.00 Rod 416 720 7358
  4. Hi folks I'm in the market for a new post/gymbal and top d-box etc. Currently have a Pro model 1 w/a model 2 battery cage. I'm looking for something a little more rigid than the current set up and with a little more extendability. What have you got, are happy with, what are the advantages/disadvantages etc. thanks for the input. Rod
  5. Mark I wouldn't recomend taking things apart every time you need to store them unless it involves a cheap easily replacable screw of which you have a dozen in hand. I have a similar setup to yours and didn't like the fiberglass/plywood cases that were available. Too heavy, (expensive for shipping by air), they leak when wet, (sitting on the tarmac at a shut down airport during a thunderstorm). etc. I had an aluminum case made to my specs by a company here in Toronto, Quantam Scientific, www.cyber-case.com. Have had it now for 8 years and very robust and very light. Oh yeah if I remember it cost me about C$550.00. good luck Rod
  6. I feel so totally out of it...what's an "alien revolution"...should I be scared, lock up the kids...head for the hills...what? Rod
  7. I have an old style 3a vest and like many things is starting to show it's age. Specifically the velcro on the waist belt is starting to wear out. How do I replace it? Is it just a matter of me taking the stitches out and then restitching, (I'm assuming by hand) some new fuzzy velcro? Any ideas, suggestions would be welcome. Thanks all Rod
  8. The 535B is a well balanced camera. It doesn't draw a lot of power and if your batteries are full up you should be able to get quite a few mags per battery. By not getting the video tap only you are going to add a couple of extra pounds, (at the top of the camera). Changing taps takes literally seconds, so it must be a money thing. Have fun. Rod (it aint a BL4) Crombie
  9. I have a Preston FI+Z handset for sale. this is just the controller NOT the transmitter or MDR. It was serviced by Preston last year and is in good shape, but obviously used. I'm selling it as I upgraded to the digital zoom. It's located in Toronto, so I can ship it to you. Sold as is, but you have 5 days to check it out. Make me an offer. email <steadicam@rodcrombie.com> or phone 416 720 7358 cheers Rod
  10. I have a set of sony glasstrons, (about 5 years now), and have used them for various shots where I couldn't get my head near the camera. I wouldn't dream of using them while using a steadicam. If you cant see your monitor then there is something wrong with the way it's set up. I found them the most useful while using remote heads in full sunlight and the supplied monitor is really flared out. As others have said, they can be very disorienting, so practice with them first. cheers Rod
