I'm about to use a Compact MK2 vesion on a feature and I don't have access to the camera util the day before shooting; I wonder if it uses the same power connector as the older vesion or they went ARRI style (2 pin Fischer) and how about Remote on/off connector (3 pin lemo as 24V ARRI's) any help? Thanks to all. Matias Mesa

I live in Argentina nad I've seen the basson and I can tell you that is a piece of crap, Bad materials, bad engeneering and no knowledge about a film or pro video business. Matias Mesa

There was a crane accident a few years ago in Argentina, were the grip asistant (key grip's son) was about to wrap the crane afret the last shot of the movie was done. The whole crew was celebrating with beer, champagne, eveybodey was happy because it has been a very difficult proyect. When this kid tried to move tha crane that was on track and loaded with wheights but no people on it, he pushed it fom behind the base. The crane steped down from the track, without any kind of ramp wich maked the crane's weight bucket to boom down crushing this kids head againt the base of the dolly. He died 3 hours later in hospital, he was 18 and no insurance because he was just helping his dad on thet day and nobody knew that. Be safe with cranes and any other type og heavy equipment. We are allway at big risk on this job, and we allways have a director yelling "Closer,Closer. faster, Faster" and peole get killed after that. Be Safe. Matias Mesa

Whats the difference between this one and the Segway, were can I get more info on tis Gadget. Matias

It does make sense, I did it when I design it but I never used it, I allways place the centercolumn in the middle, it was just an option to have. On the other hand if you want to attach a Hihat or any other camera supporting device, you have several mounting patterns. Just an option. Best to all.

The main reason why I move the wheels to the back is that my grips at that time didn't have much experience with the Rickjaw and since it was a fast moving shot, I didn't feel very comfortable with the fact of them going loose on the handle amd me going face first into the ground. So here the wheels are behind the CG. As far as Speedrail, there is a company in London that specialices in theter productions that carry speedral. I cant remember the name but do some research arround this. As far as the post thing, I don't get your question. Can you explain it again. Matias

I allways tell 1st ADs that my setup time is 15min once I have the camera with a fresh Mag and lens, etc. If I tell them that is 45 min and the Camera Dpt take 40 min to give me the camera because they are geatting it rady for steadicam, I'll be in trouble. to get my rig out of the cases and to be ready to receive the camera only takes me 5 min. If you took toooooo long to set up the rig, ans mised some shot, then the the Producer is right but if this is not the case, tell him to Fu.. off and pay what he has to or ask any other steadicam ops how long it takes the to set up. My two cents. matias Mesa

Its great but until ARRI or who ever comes out with proper Steadimags for the 235, its a piece of crap!. The standard steadimags fit so bad due to the redesigned mag throa angle. Stedaimags on the camera and its a new world. My thoughts. Best. Matias Mesa

To operators from different countries
Matias Mesa replied to Matias Mesa's topic in General Discussion
Over here 12 and 12 is the standard thing but Producers are pushing to get a 12 and 10 day. I'm not up for that but if anything changes it should go to 10 and 10. You allways do overtime but its based after the 10th hour. Please add some mor info please!!. thanks to all. Matias Mesa -
Lately in my country there is this big debate between producers and film technicians, about how should a standard day be; we currently have a 12hr day and 12hr turn arround. But some producers are trying to go to a 12hr day with a 10hr turn arround. I 'm wondering how is it in different countries all arround the globe. I know Canada and US is 10 and 10 but how about Spain, South Africa, Australia, etc. I would like to hear your thoughts. Best to all. Matias Mesa

Ok here are the differences The low profile arm is the new style arm that goes around the harness and due to Its "low profile" its more contoured to the harness body making the harness smaller for fiting throught doorways, etc. The older style, the one I have, has more of a 90 degree angle, arround the harness. The low mode arm is shaped is a Z style so it curves arround and down. This will give you a couple more inches down for low mode operation. I don't know about DSD harness but walter's service is compared to none in the steadicam business. They really stand behing their product. I repeat, I don't know about Daniel's product but Walter's is a sure bet, you can't loose. Best to all. Matias Mesa

I have my P+S Technik Video Viewfinder for sale if you want, Comes with a Sony IP55 Micro DV camera, and I can throw in a tiny Coherent Tranmitter that will work woth a 9V batterie for like 6hs. Thed camera has an analog aoutput for the monitor and a split for the Transmitter, I think is the best otion you can have. i used it a lot for shooting Elephant and I have no use for it now. Its the best tool for rehersing or blocking long shots. Greatest luck on the musical, I would love to shoot one som e day. Matias Mesa

As anyone seen the new Scorpio Hand Unit?
Matias Mesa replied to Frederic Chamberland's topic in Follow Focus
I just bought one, and I will have delivery by the end of this week. Its a great system, very powerfull motors and its great to have a a wireless RCU. Pedro from Servicevision told me that the new unit wil be backwards compatible with all the Scorpio focus systems, all you have to do is buy the new hand unit and upgrade the software on the MDB. The only flaw that I can find in this system is that it has too many function for very few buttons and a very small display. to acces severall functions you have to gi through several steps, but I guess is just a matter of getting used to it. And of course, I think the new one will be much more user friendly. Best. Matias -
