  2. Ok guy's, Who's going to Rio? I was thinking If we know who's where, we can help each other if we have trouble with equipment. (sort of backup system) I'm flying an Ultra2 system, V-mount batt's, Klassen vest (traditional deluxe back mount) I'm at Copa, doing Cycling Road race, Triathlon, Marathon and Time Trial. Where are you and what are you covering? Have fun, stay safe!!!
  3. Hi all, I haven't don anything yet, just gathering information what to do. The rig is on the truck and monday I will see, with all your great advise and hints, some qualified mechanics what to do with the problem. To open the toolbox and stick a screwdriver up a $20K arm myself isn't something i'm not very comfortable with. I' ll keep you all posted. Greg.
  4. It was very very late last night, sorry for the names mixup. ( can't find the edit button for correcting the previous message) Jeff, Steven, others, thanks for helping me out, ... I haven't had the time today to hardmount the rig and check everything out. It's driving me made; it distracts me of my job. If I boom up AND down at the middle and up range of the arm, it's giving one click going UP, and one click going DOWN. It's has to be located somewhere down the spring-tention mecanism. I even feel the click If I hold the weight adjustment knob of the upper arm. So I think there something loose in that mec. Have to check that safety cable too... Jeff, did you disassemble your arm yourselve or is it wise to sent it up to tiffen? Special tools, calibrations??? At what end do you start the disassenblie, ... ? I'm still going to follow steve's and alec's lead too. thanks all for the hints and tips, G.

  6. hey Amando, There is only one click. Did you have a click-click or a ñieck-ñieck? I asked my ass. to feel at the end of the spring and the tention ajustment mecanism ( at the steadicamcamp, Jerry told us to never stick your fingers in the arm, it can crush you fingers, thats why I asked my ass ;) ) and he feels that one click. It's like something is sticking and coming loose every time. Sounds strange but can't discribe it otherwise. But I don't have the feeling that that click goes up to the rig. I'm going to hardmount the rig this afternoon to check everything out. If you wear the system you have a very limited look. CU later, G.
  7. Hi robin, It is a 6 spring Ultra arm. 2 Years old. (Januari '05) it doesn't feel like it influence the arm funtions. G.
  8. Hi guy's, I have a problem with my Ultra arm. When I boom up, move past my horizontal position, the upper arm makes a click sound. It doesn't effect my booming abbility. I do a lot of music programa's and it doesn't mater a click here and there but I do a talkshow now and every step I take and very triaxcabel that makes some noise the soundguys are looking our way. I try to locate the noise, and it comes from the direction of the spring and weight ajustment mecanism. Did someone had this problem? What is the solution? Thanks, Greg.
  9. Thanks Guido, that is a very simple tip, but very effective <_< . BTW, the production is going for a quad. Thanks for the advice, Greg.
  10. I 'll be there on monday !!! I can't go to the Tiffen get together :( see you guy's there in hall 11. Greg.
  11. Hi guy's, does anybody know if there is a segway to rent in Belgium, maybe The Netherlands. Need some weels mid September. If no Segway maybe a ricksaw? thanks Greg.
  12. Hi guy?s, I?ve got a gimbal problem. I fly this Ultra for nearly two years now. How can I put it, if I do a dynamic balance test, then there is nearly zero friction. If I do the same test but I tilt the lens up then the gimbal locks itself and the sled stops spinning. In other words when I spin the Steadicam with a perfect vertical post then the weight is perfectly balanced over the pan bearing. If I tilt up, make an angle backwards, it stops spinning. This problem brings all the operator's unwanted movements, which are normally neutralized, to the camera. What could be the problem? Is it a adjustment pin, a bearing problem, or ? Thanks for the help. Greg.
  13. Hi guy's, MK-V has a new 2 channel remote system, and they showed it at NAB. Did someone see the system or test it out? greg "looking out for a new system" Vanhove
  14. Hi guy's, I have a problem with my horizon level. I'm shooting a belgian cop-show in HD on an Ultra sled. My setup was compleet, the balance was perfect, the level was checked everything was OK. I walked to the set, docked the sled, talked to the director and when I mounted the sled, my horizon wasn't working annymore. (!?!) The level showed it was compleet off, It was so offlevel it didn't move at all. I didn't know what was happening and on the 1 day of the new series with a new director that was waiting for me on the set! Damn why now! I asked 2 minute's to solve the problem. Even with the level pot compleet to the right I couldn't get a zero level. So I turned the level indicator off and did my shots without it. the day after when I checked the sled, everything was fine again!?! Last friday one month later, same show, HD, different camera, ready to go. Damn! Offlevel again. Luckely we were shooting action shots in a forrest that day so it wasn't that critical. Did someone had the same experience? What can I do about it? Greg.
  15. Hi guy's, I'm looking for some good weatherprotective gear for a new Ultra with 8.4" tft. I don't life in sunny California so I can use it very well. The only thing I find on the net is the materserie's film & EDTV from Harrison film and changing tents and Jerry Hill's armcovers. In other words: What do you use for rainy days ? Greg " hope it's a sunny day today!! " Vanhove
  16. Hi Ben, I do a lot of live work (SD) and some drama (HD) in Belgium and I agree with Jef, keep it simple, smal and comfy. I use the Zoe II and very happy about it. The only thing is that the remote does not run digital lenses. Vari-speed is a must have. First I used the J7 and it didn't work for me. The zoomspeed was to fast and the ergonomics didn't feel right in my hand. Then I bought the Zoe with the zoom speed controle on the side and turned it way down. I don't have that much trouble with the cable but yes my remote cable it isn't thin at all. Wireless or in combination with your focus remote (Benz 4000 or 5000 for the cine-ops) would be great. Keep it very simple to use. I don't have the time to hasle with memory buttons and settings and other things when I'm on the set. The most important thing it must do is to make a smooth zoom with a nice start and a transparant ending, a recorder start/stop and for the video guy's a video return. Greg(ory)
