  1. Matt, If you have any input on camera used you could use the arri 235 and still use the flyer, only problem would be powering from the rig if you don't have the 24v version, not sure if the 400ft of film limit of the 235 would be a problem though. John.
  2. Hey Charles, I take it Ice skates are out of the question :-D. John.
  3. lol, that was great, really enjoyed it :D John.
  4. Hi Mark, I traded in my V16 so I got money off the normal retail price, but the first 100 units were selling for $7995 then the price goes to $9995, not sure if the first 100 have been sold yet. I really do think it's great value for money. John.
  5. Hi Guys, Just thought I would post some thoughts on the V25 now I have the complete system and post some pics of the new sled as there are a couple of changes since IBC. The Vest: Much like the previous V-series, very comfortable but now having the all important socket block adjustments, stops the arm flying away from you and means you can set it up to be in a more comfortable position. Great stuff The Arm: I'm absolutely loving the arm, extremely smooth, hardly any effort required to hold it at any height. Very well made and looks really cool :) The Sled: OK Just got the sled 2 weeks ago and it's just awesome. The V16 I had previously had served me well for a few years but the V25 is just in a different league. No tools adjustments for balance really makes it a helluva lot quicker and easier. Having everything wired through the post is great meaning no more cables flapping around while operating. The gimbal is brilliant, very smooth, doesn't feel like there's any friction, again very well made, now all machined as opposed to the punch and bent parts on the old V-series. Being able to independantly adjust the position of the monitor and batteries up and down and in and out make dynamic balance much easier. Overall I'm extremely impressed with the V25, it has totally exceeded all my expectations, I think Glidecam have done an awesome Job with this rig. Kudos to Glidecam :D Only one pic of the arm, that's not changed since IBC. http://www.steeleworksproductions.com/V25/V25arm1.jpg http://www.steeleworksproductions.com/V25/fullsled1.jpg http://www.steeleworksproductions.com/V25/fullsled2.jpg http://www.steeleworksproductions.com/V25/...andcamstage.jpg http://www.steeleworksproductions.com/V25/camstage.jpg http://www.steeleworksproductions.com/V25/gimbal.jpg http://www.steeleworksproductions.com/V25/monitor.jpg http://www.steeleworksproductions.com/V25/lowerJbox.jpg John.
  6. Hi Duffin, I've not used the smooth shooter but I have heard it is a very good entry level system. Obviously the sled is the 2000 Pro so it won't have any of the bells and whistles that the V25 or flyer have. Job was flying the smooth shooter and IBC so hopefully he'll chime in with his thoughts on it. John.
  7. Hi Duffin, At the moment you'll need to go directly to Glidecam to pre-order, contact David Stevens and I'm sure he'll take good care of you. In terms of the lowend handheld units, well, they are good but aren't comparable to the full body rigs. I also use a glidecam 2000 Pro for some things but I can only use it for a few minutes at a time before my arm threatens to fall off, using the full body rig can also still be tiring but I can fly it for a lot longer with a heavier camera than I can with a handheld and small camera. John. Any reponse to this..? I have to offer a few choices for our dept to consider...
  8. Hi Matt, I don't think there will be any demo models in the UK at the moment, the full systems won't be shipping until January, I've got the arm and vest just now and hopefully the sled should be along pretty soon. I'm up in Scotland so if you're ever in these parts then you're more than welcome to try it out. John.
  9. I totally agree with Job here, check out the V25, I really hope the V25 starts getting the credit it deserves once more people try it. Overall in my opinion and the opinions of many others the V25 is a better system, the flyer arm is great, but you know what so is the V25's arm, the V25's sled is way better, HD ready with lots of power and video wired through the post with all no tools adjustments, the V25 will hold 25lbs of camera, the flyer around 15lbs and they're both roughly the same price(the V25 may be a bit more when the first 100 units go) Honestly check out the V25, it offers a lot more bang for the buck. And yes I have flown a flyer and I own the V25 arm and vest while I wait patiently for my sled to be ready. :D John. Well, its an PDF and you can download it from my webdisk. CLICKERTHECLICK First 100 units go for 7999 US After that its gonna be 10 grand i guess Ask them, but read first, and try one
  10. Thanks Joe, I don't need the plate right away, I've got most of a Glidecam V25, I've got the arm and vest and am currently using my existing V16 sled while I wait for the new sled to be ready. I'll need the plate once the new sled arrives so I'll be in touch with you then. :) Thanks again. John.
  11. Hi Joe, I'm looking for a sony plate for my rig and I was wondering how the camera locks onto this plate and how much they are. I'm also in the uk. John.
  12. Mitz, for your use I'd also recommend looking at the new glidecam V25. It's the new system, has a fantastic smooth dual section arm which will take a camera upto 25lbs and has a fully featured sled, HD ready. It really is worth a look because it might just give you the performance you're after with a bit of room for growth too. The first 100 units of the V25 will be priced at $7995 then after that $9995. John.
  13. You might want to check out the new glidecam V25, I just recieved the first production model of the arm and vest this week as the sled isn't ready yet. It really is a high quality system. I'm sure there have been a few posts about the V25, here's a picture of the new arm. It's great, very smooth, easy to hold through the boom range, can't say how impressed I am with it. http://www.steeleworksproductions.com/V25/V25arm1.jpg John.
  14. DOH! I couldn't find anything on the masterclass when I searched earlier but I tried again and it looks like i missed it. DOH again! Rich, is this something that's done every year? John. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  15. Hi Rich, Can you give us more details on the masterclass, I'm just over in Glasgow so it might be something I'd be up for attending? Thanks. John.
  16. Matt, if you like the Gold then you need to check out the V25 when it comes out within the next month or two, I've been speaking to David Stevens from Glidecam and he said that the V25 is basically a baby Gold system designed for cameras upto 25lbs. I've got my order in and hopefully should have the arm and vest within the next couple of weeks with the sled coming in october/november. John.
  17. Cool, I've used twixtor before but never managed to get it that good, man those guys must have stayed really still when you moved around them, I did think that was how you did it but there was just no movement at all. Again, it looked great, I need to go and try it now :) John. Howdy guys, thanks for the kind words. Cheers John, the bullet time stuff was all done via TWIXTOR and getting the guys to freeze while i tracked round them (was a realy tight squeeze in that subway). Twixtor is an amazing tool and i belive they used it on the matrix in some form. "Twixtor enables you to speed up, slow down or frame rate convert your image sequences with visually stunning results. In order to achieve its unparalleled image quality" Oh shiza sorry jay I've been so busy at the mo i dont know if i'm coming or going. Do you wana come with me to mk-v sometime ? i can give you the tapes then. Cheers-Matt <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  18. Matt, How did you get the bullet time style shot, it looked great. John.
  19. Matt and Jason, if you're thinking about Glidecam I'd really recommend waiting to see the V-25 that's just about to be released. I use a V16 just now which works really well and have the V25 ordered(I should get one of the first produced :) ). The V25 really does look like it's going to be an awesome rig and it will take cameras upto 25lbs, it'll have a dual section arm, fully wired sled for video and power, all the adjustments required to change the pitch and angle of the arm at the arm connector on the vest, new and improved Gimbal etc etc, David Stevens from Glidecam decsribed it as a baby Gold system and said it'll offer the most bang for the buck than any other system out there, it's definately worth a look. It'll be a bit more expensive that the V20 but it'll offer a whole lot more. If however the V25 does extend the budget too much then I'm sure you'll find the V20 will do the job just fine. I've been using the V16 now for around 3 years and it has served me well, the customer service from Glidecam is also great so I would definately recommend them. John.
