  8. Hi Guys, I've been using only HC's on my XCS rig for a while now, with excellent results - so much so that all my other batteries have died though lack of use! I have been using them with Arricam's and 435's (at high speed) with no problems at all. I have used them in hot environments with no problems at all. However, to this date I haven't had any experience with these batteries and any HD camera system. Looking forward to the HCX's.....
  9. For cables that are already assembled, I use an inkjet label that has a built-in clear wrap...... JET-30-117-2 by Brady
  10. Check out this awesome mounting bracket from Skipps Engineering (818) 882-3500. I was fed up with my CanaTrans getting beat up on a show where it just got velcro-ed to the camera, so I came up with this bracket, based on Mike Skipp's Preston MDR modular bracket. The clamping block can be moved around the mounting plate - 8 different positions with 4 different orientations in each position. The clamping block is 19mm and will fit on 15mm or 5/8" with a bushing.
  11. Hi Everyone, Here's a link to an online petition to SAG to ask them NOT to strike. I doubt it will do anything, but there are 11,000+ signatures so far......... NO SAG STRIKE! Petition
  12. Try Mike Skipp at Skipps Engineering, 8900 Eton Avenue, Suite J, Canoga Park, CA 91304. (818) 882-3500. He runs a film specific machine shop making stuff from Libra Heads to lens brackets - I can't recommend him enough...... he used to make parts for me when I owned TechnoCrane.

  19. Dear David, You might try Jeroen Hendriks (Lexmond Inc.) (818) 384-4323 jeroen@lexmond.com - he is an amazing camera and equipment tech. He is now also set up to make cables.
  20. Howard has responded very quickly to this issue. I have to applaud his customer service - yet again. He feels that this problem with some of the tactile switches is most likely due to contamination during the process of cleaning the circuit boards when they are manufactured. He says that anyone experiencing such a problem should contact Preston to get it resolved.
  21. I looked into this more today, both with my older HU-3 unit and a brand new one I picked up yesterday. The software versions were v1.12 and v1.11 respectively. It does appear that (with both units) you can press a number of the tactile buttons and feel a click without the button performing the function. This happens if you press the buttons quickly or lightly. As far as the run button is concerned, I could press it a number of times before running the camera, however, the run light would only light on those occasions the camera actually ran. I will speak to Howard about this and post an update.
  22. Dear Ramon, I too have had that experience - not only with the run button, but also with the middle of the three menu buttons. I was at Preston yesterday and spoke to Howard about this. He said he would look into it.
