  1. You could use a Paralinx to send the signal back. On a slight different way, depending on the prompter persons set up, there are a few iPad prompter systems out there, beamsplitter through the lens...
  2. Someone buy this! this is a deal!!! I don't need a back up as these things never fail, but this is tempting, just to have another one
  3. Hi Daniel, We have also sent some demo units to our distributor in America and Canada, you can contact them to test and buy it after some time. Happy new year to you. Rita, with this kind of dismissive attitude, you won't get any sympathy from the professionals around here, and you won't get operators jumping through hoops to demo your unit, specially when there are so many excellent options in the market, with companies and people willing to bend over backwards towards their customers. I was hopping there was something lost in translation and I was trying to be a good samaritan, clearing up a possible misunderstanding, but now it doesn't seem that it was the case. Good luck...
  4. Hey Joseph, When I started out, I practiced a lot. I did 2 years of non freelance work and I did a workshop before I felt comfortable taking anyones money and at that point I already had a fair experience as an operator. From your reel I can tell that you have a few skills outside Steadicam that need some brushing up, as an operator. You should watch many different styles of movies and TV shows and analyze what the camera is doing, how the framing is chosen, headroom, looking space. Once you have that pat down (and that's not an easy feat), you can move on to the rig. It's not just about having a level horizon. Learn, analyze and absorb as much as you can, and have patience. Not just Steadicam, but using a camera properly is an art form that takes years to master...
  5. I'll throw in my 2 cents... This video I DP'ed and operated Steadi for Chick-Fil-a was a very interesting concept: A oner going through a restaurant capturing different people, and then overlaying text with their personal situation. In the fortune 500 world this became one of the most successful videos and copied by many other companies like Red Lobster and Dairy Queen. On the technical side, it was a difficult shoot, as we had limited time, filming in a working restaurant. Getting the timing right with the actors that spanned from 8 to 80 years old wasn't that simple either, but all in all I think it turned out pretty good.
  6. I think what Airpull is not understanding is that we are not asking to receive a free system to keep. It's just for a period of time, to be evaluated, and then be sent on to the next person. You should have a couple of units in the US, maybe one on the west coast and one on the east coast, that can be lent to operators as they desire to try it out for a couple of weeks. If they enjoy the system, surely good words will be spoken and orders will be placed.
  7. Good luck over in Alabama. Tell Larry I said Hi!
  8. I would prefer the way you have it in the picture. The less lose parts and extra connections, the better...
  9. Yes, I'd also like some more details on this. Installation, prices, etc...
  10. Could have hurt the operator badly and ruined his and his family's livelihood. Maybe as a prank someone should go and kick the player in the knees...
  11. If you paid via Paypal, all they need to do is refund you through Paypal, and they will also get the fees refunded. I have done it myself.
  12. That unit from Peter looks great! I just have 2 corrections, regarding the BFD: Luis Puli makes solid metal marking disks that are fantastic and loved by my ac's. And the V2 Bartech digital receiver has a different reset button that gen 1. you can now recalibrate the motor using just your finger, pressing down the cal button. And it keeps the calibration for a little less than an hour. I have been following Peters development of this system, and I know he's very thorough and would only deliver a system when it was top notch. By the reports he seems to have nailed it! Congrats Mike with your purchase.
  13. Well, I just recently lost a job to the Movi. I got a call for this Ram truck commercial, to just hear a few days later that the directors decided on the Movi, and flew the guys from Freefly in. I have a feeling it was a novelty factor in this case. Eventually that will wear out, or so I hope...
  14. Trader joes has an orange spray that is sold as a deodorizer, but works like magic in cleaning goo off, and it makes your gear smell great too!
  15. I remember (barely) my early twenties... All advice here is good. Follow that and you'll be golden. Remember: talk to the ops. in your area. Try not to piss them off too much. They will be the key to the beginning of your career... Getting old is not for weaklings, specially having to carry that rig along the way. Do you think you can do that? :) (middle ager here!)
  16. I'm trying once again. Last time the person just wanted a free rental. Please be aware that this device has a delay. It's small, between 1/8 and 1/2 second, typically 1/4 (4-5 frames). If this is an issue to you, please don't bid :) works great for Broll monitoring to an ipad. Clients usually love that. http://bit.ly/14y8K1a
  17. Heden motors work great with the BFD. Great combination, this way you won't have any service issues...
  18. I really think this bullying spirit in this forum has got to stop! If you don't like the product, don't buy it. This rampant speculation of who did what when and how is way out of proportion. Chris, take the high road as a businessman. He's not even your competition. Why do you care if the transmitter works or not, or came first, or is different inside? It's just putting your own endeavor in a bad light. I don't really care if the insides of this transmitter are the same or not from others. All I care is that it works as advertised, and Dans service is great! I once had a false alarm where I couldn't get a receiver to work, but it was in fact a defective monitor. Called Paralinx, and they offered to overnight me another one immediately. That was a few minutes after I contacted them. Not the same response from some other companies. And that, you can't put a price on. But really, I'm tired of this childish rudeness. I find myself logging in here less and less...
  19. You know Alan, you're right. I feel so ashamed now... Maybe you can share your secrets to a successful career, so I can follow your wise footsteps.Step number one: insult someone. All right, working on that.
