HD-SDI Splitter
Daniel Stilling DFF replied to Tim Moynihan's topic in Video Assist and Video Accessories
That's nice. I would be curious about what the little box has inside. I have split HDSDI signals successfully with just a BNC T, but always wondered if I was degrading the signal. I might just give this box a spin :) -
I don't see why that would be a problem. It's after all a measure of your skill, not the content of the movie in which you have no control.

How do you fly the Epic?
Daniel Stilling DFF replied to Mark Karavite's topic in Cameras (Film/Video/HD)
The downtime on the Epic is just over 10 seconds. Even an EX3 takes longer to restart. Shouldn't be a problem... -
Airline media rate - ID solution
Daniel Stilling DFF replied to Charles Papert's topic in Cases/Carts/Stands and Transport
I have been traveling a lot lately and have found that most airlines don't have a media policy anymore. Can you guys list the airlines where that works? I only know of Southwest right now. $50 per piece after 2 no size or weight restriction (under 100 pounds) and they let you pre board most of the time if you have bulky cases with you. carry my batteries on in my Pelican 1600. -

I'm selling 4 used but in good condition Hytron 50's. At my estimates, they are at about 70-80 % of capacity. They have scratches from normal use, but work as they should. $250 shipping in the ConUS

Daniel Stilling DFF replied to Daniel Stilling DFF's topic in Steadicam Marketplace - For Sale
All right, lowered to 3K -
I'm selling my used, but great working Camwave. It had older hardware, but about 9 months ago I sent it to IDX, where the system got fitted with all new internal boards. Now it works great as a new Camwave. It comes with a pelican case and a power supply for the receiver. $3,200.00 plus shipping and paypal fees (3%) Please contact me at camerapilot - at - G mail . com

The Great Daylight Monitor Shootout
Daniel Stilling DFF replied to Charles Papert's topic in Monitors
If there's only one, it's hardly a choice. Thankfully there is a choice. You choose Cinetronic. I choose Transvideo. All the best, Chris And I'm very happy with my Marshall. Even under the Florida sun in big shows... -
TURN THIS RATE DOWN!!!!
Daniel Stilling DFF replied to Michael Stumpf's topic in Legal / Business Practices
I just turned down a feature because of ridiculous low rates... What's going on? -
I thought it was great! lots of pretty backlight!

This evening I took on the task of disassembling my arm (not sure if its a Masters or an Ultra, how can I tell?), and doing a thorough cleaning. I discovered one of the bearings was completely mangled, and one of the cables that links the springs could use a replacement. Does Tiffen carry these parts? if not, does anyone have good ideas where to get them?

That calibrating speed is truly amazing!

Overall not bad. I have 2 points. First, your focus puller killed a few shots. the out of focus shots bothered me a bit. I have a feeling you have a pretty fast drop time on your sled. You had quite a bit of headroom variations, sometimes giving them a severe haircut, sometimes giving it a little too much space. Your level is great, I liked the whip pan on the concert shot. Just work on the headroom stuff, eventually slow down your drop time...

Blackmagic Digital Cinema Camera
Daniel Stilling DFF replied to John E Fry's topic in Cameras (Film/Video/HD)
It's actually smaller than that. Somewhere between 16mm and 4/3's -
Looks a little like John Hankhammer. Is that you John?

batteryrefill.com Anyone herd of them?
Daniel Stilling DFF replied to James Puli's topic in Batteries/Power
I just got a couple of Dionics refilled by John Ritter. The service and communication were great, the turn around time a lot faster than expected, and the batteries are as good as new. Charge on AB chargers no issue. It is just like buying new batteries, just a lot cheaper.I bought a receled battery from him as well, same as the others, just like new ones. -
Switronix Wireless hd
Daniel Stilling DFF replied to Michael Wilson's topic in Video Assist and Video Accessories
My Camwave had the external antennae installed by the previous owner, and soon after getting the system I realized that it only made it worse. I sent the system in to IDX and got all new boards and now it works very well, so I'm a little skeptical with the external antenna design of the Switronix. -
I own a Red Scarlet and never heard of this. And I'm powering it from my Anton Bauers...

CW-5HD aka Camwave
Daniel Stilling DFF replied to Jens Piotrowski SOC's topic in Video Assist and Video Accessories
I recently shot a commercial on an Epic and used my CamWave with it and it worked great. I did all sorts of high speed and no glitches.I need to point out though that it recently received new guts, so it has the latest hardware revision. -
I put a couple of AB chargers on eBay:Chargers on eBay.
