  1. Venice Boardwalk, Abbot Kinney blvd, Santa Monica 3rd st Promenade and the Santa Monica Pier. Drive out to Malibu and Zuma Beach or County Line. Getty Museum. LACMA Museum. Make reservations 1st day of the month for the Broad Museum downtown and hit the Grand Central market for lunch and while you are down there check out the Bradberry Building used in Bladerunner (it's down the street from the market). Also Hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains above Hollywood or Will Rodgers Park. There are music and comedy clubs on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood.
  2. Yes, image flip is helpful too. Just remembered the BNC on the AXS-R5 recorder is labelled AUX out.You may have to get into output settings in the camera menu too.
  3. I've got one and have used it for heavy wind work a couple of times. If wind is coming from the side it really works great. Head on wind is still floating headroom issue. Have not experimented with a really fast drop time yet as I balance as I normally do without the wave. Maybe that would help. Very sold piece of gear, no vibration issues.
  4. Matias hope you are well. If you are using a Sony F55 with the S-Log recorder back you can get a p signal out of the test output on the recorder, but it will be in raw and have no camera setting info or record indicator. Otherwise you will need something like the Decimator MD-HX to cross convert the psf to p signal the camera puts out and you can view in HD.
  5. It's only been bounced back one time. I almost always invoice for my gear through my Corporation rather than collect a weekly Box Rental. Perhaps this makes it easier? Had an issue with CBS where they would only pay via Box/payroll company. If pressed they will usually come up with the "special" box rental form I mentioned earlier.
  6. Many of the studios have a different form for Steadicam, Sound Mixer, Construction which do offer liability for our equipment. Often the POC or UPM do not know about this form and will find it if pressed. Otherwise I cross out the offending language and initial it for obvious reasons.
  7. Sidekick 2. Every time I buy a product from Teradek they come out with an updated version only a few short months later.
  8. I've got the "legs" for what I think might be the first generation of Gen2 plate you can have but can't get to them until Thanksgiving. I replaced them with sone longer ones for some reason I can't remember
  9. I believe Ron Baldwin has one.
  10. I'm wondering if they have boosted the wattage beyond legal FCC safety regulations to get better reception. Don't quite trust this Chinese sourced product. Hopefully I'm wrong.
  11. Brooks good luck in your future endeavors. You are a class act and I have always enjoyed our conversations in the past and look forward to seeing and talking with you on the set soon.
  12. Local 600 does not offer work referrals but does maintain certain lists of members that are available and looking for work, in need of just a few hours to qualify for health insurance, or members that are minorities. You can get on the available list by logging in to the www.cameraguild.com website and adding your name every week beginning Sundays. You can also add your name to these other lists that are provided to producers or other members looking for crew. In addition the Eastern and Central regions carry a list of productions that are or will shoot be shooting in the area that you can contact. They may get this list from the Studio Mechanics local. The Western region office does not do that because"it would take too much time". BS.
  13. I run a PRO 2 with 3 batteries and usually get 45 minutes of straight use with an Alexa. And my batteries are close to 2 years old.
  14. I would think adding some small riser sandwich plate or a higher base plate under the camera to raise the camera CG would be a better way to go rather than adding accessories on top of the camera. Perhaps Chris has created such items?
  15. Selling 1 used "$600 cable" for Cinetape display. Half price: $300. Located in Santa Monica, CA. email me doc659@gmail.com if interested.
  16. Wow, that is really generous to offer your time. Just another example of the great community of operators on this board! Howard, I hope you are reading these posts and getting a clue of what real professionals are willing to do to help each other.
  17. MDR 2's are certainly serviceable at Preston.
