  1. Hey all, I was wondering how big the demand for the steadicam is these days and whether or not many of you guys have trouble finding work, especially for those of you that are new the scene. thanks in advance for the responses
  2. I stumbled across this rig and was going to post a thread about the Fishbone and it's quality, but it looks like you recommend against it. Do you think it's not worth it despite its relatively low price?
  3. Charles, you are right, I did forget the remote follow focus. Although that should add no more than a pound, right? Chris, cool thanks for the encouragement! Brandon, thats pretty much what I wanted to hear. So you corrected the balancing issues that Charles mentioned with extra battery weight, awesome thanks for the advice! Robert, I think contacting Tiffen might be the only way to go. I think I might just also test out the flyer and see how it works out in person. With my budget I think used rigs are the only way to go! thanks for the response!
  4. For several months now I've been considering purchasing a glidecam v20, but after doing extensive research ive been getting a bunch of mixed reviews. Everyone has been telling prospective Glidecam v20 buyers to purchase the steadicam Flyer, and so I looked into it. I then immediately dismissed it because of the my camera weight, which is the sony HDR FX 1 with redrock 35mm adapater. All that plus matte box and rails i'm easily exceeds 15 pounds. But after doing some more research on this forum I saw a link to a thread about someone maxing out the weight of a steadicam flyer at a weight greater than 15 pounds. So my question is would it be worth purchasing and would it operate normally if i had a camera that weighed 15+ pounds?
  5. wow, and I thought slappin a 35mm system onto a rig would be easy. I'd assume these remote control follwo focus systems are not cheap. But thanks, this makes a lot more sense to me know. all this is invaluable information to me!
  6. I always thought that you'd want the largest depth of field possible possible so you can minimize the amount of focusing going on. All focusing on steadicam is done remotely correct? thanks guys for all the replies
  7. the camera my crew is using has in fact a redrock M2, so yeah when you say work wide open, you mean with any lens attatched?
  8. Hello all, aspiring operator here, I was curious to know what kind of lens are used when ever you guys shoot. Correct me if i'm wrong, but a large depth of field is required because the scene is constantly changing among other things. -Nathan
