  1. There is a pretty decent behind the scenes video of the Russian Ark shooting. Maybe you can search youtube for it. It's called "In One Breath". As far as I can recall, there are no cuts. But what you might have heard is that they startet the take three times all over again due to some problems. But the third one really is a oner from start to finsh. They couldn't have cut from there on as they ran out of time. This makes the last and final take even more exciting I think.
  2. Hey, there has been a test shoot here in germany with the p+s freestyle rig for the local soccer (football ?) broadcast. http://www.film-tv-video.de/newsdetail.html?&no_cache=1&uid=38461&L= For the link beeing only in german, summing up: Topvision (local technical support for the soccer league broadcast) shot one first division match (additionally) in 3D. The Steadicam rig flies with two Sony EX 3. The selected test audience was very pleased with the result. Looking at the steadicam pictures, I recognized a frequent player for soccer games here in Germany. I think his name is Roland Kaatz. I dont't know if he is present in this forum, but he may have some insider infos... Best regards, Fabian.
  3. ... I guess you can disregard reflections with a crew like this! At 0:26 they got my attention... ;) Cheers, Fabian
  4. We recently had a show at a horse derby where - as a highlight - one camera was covering the race from an SUV alongside the race track (not steadicam though). We used a Link system (but without remote and PGM) provided by Bert Blümer here in germany. The result was very pleasing! Not a single dropped frame. And we covered an area of about 23 acre with the farthest distance to the antennas of about 400 meters. And all this from a moving vehicle going up to 40 mph. We placed three antenna-clusters on the roof of the betting house facing the race track and had no problems to cover the whole area. I'd highly recommend this system. Easy set-up and very reliable. I think it's quite popular here in europe and also available for wireless HD, including remote, return, tally. Regards! Fabian
  5. Hey Jess, I feel kind of stupid now that I haven't thought about the option to detach the rig on the vest... oh boy! ;) Thanks for the hint! About the arm: maybe it's not that serious as it sounded in my post. I think I just wasn't expexting this to happen when I've flown it. Overall I found the actioncam very usefull and in the end the shots looked pretty good. And it was quite good to balance, for me as a beginner! Regards, Fabian
  6. Hello everyone, since this is my first post I want to say hi and thanks upfront for all the great advises I have found in this forum so far. In addition to Jess' post I'd like to add that I recently had the opportunity to fly the actioncam in it's very first design appraoch. The little greenscreen wasn't working for me either. I googled it and the original model is for backview purposes for trucks... I could have bought one on ebay for around 20 dollars... But I rather attached a TV logic LCD in a fancy 'the-more-tape-the-better' way... anyways, it worked at last. I think the major design flaws of the actioncam is the arm attachment to the gimbal, which you have to screw. That always left me in an uncomfortable position when "un-screwing" while the sled is docked. The second would be the arm itself, although I have to agree that it flew nicely and the weight-range is superb. But if you're not carful the arm will snap at the upper end of the booming range and you end up with the weight of the sled in your hands.... not the sled itself, though... ;) For practicing purpose I taped a little panasonic camcorder to an Arri SR2 as seen below... I call it... well, the "Pan-arri"... Fabian
