  1. Hello everyone, This is an interesting conversation. The only insurance in Lisbon available to us will only insure your gear up to current market value. Can someone please suggest a good insurer in England? Thanks in advance, Leandro

  3. Hello Mike, What did you end up using for a case? Thanks Leandro
  4. Even though Teradek's support sounds ok (at least their communication does - the live chat function is pretty cool), I can t understand their shipping policy. I am in europe and had it delivered to a friend's place in LA. At first, they would t guarantee delivery in 20 days. I took a chance and ordered it last Friday and it was delivered this morning. I see some of the folks on the Forum weren't so lucky, yet Teradek talks about following a first come first served policy. I am glad I got mine delivered, but I would also like to see a spotless record on their part. Also, my unit was left by UPS at my friend's doorstep unattended for a whole day. If someone form Teradek follows this forum, please make a note of this and have the good people at UPS change their procedure. I'd hate to hear of ops having to do without their gear because of preventable theft. Leandro
  5. Hello all, I am going to be spending a few days in Shanghai and Hong Kong over the next weeks and thought I d ask here if anyone knows of some unmissable sites / museums / bars / tours. All input is apreciated. Thanks in advance. Leandro Silva
  6. Hello everyone. Also considering an HD upgrade. Just wondering what is the best way to do it... I may try to do it locally so I can minimize the down time. Is it better to connect the cables to the bnc Plugs directly, or is it better to hack it to the original coiler cable socket? Thanks. Leandro Silva
  7. Hello Brant. Thanks for the reply. I have been in touch with Gary for a while, but I was looking for some feedback from the trenches. Do you use any digital level? If so, wich one? I m trying to figure out how to best use an sd digital level with this monitor... Thanks again, Leandro
  8. Hello everyone. While we eagerly wait for the new Cinetronic to come out, looks like there´s a new Boland 8.4 monitor. This one is a LED panel, rated at 1500 nits. Has anyone tried it yet? Thanks Leandro Silva
  9. Hello all. Just bumping to see if anyone has tried the new digital level for the Nebtek solar Hd 7 Sc. On their website now shows the level as a built in feature. Any happy owners of the new and improved Nebtek solar monitor & level? Thanks. Leandro
  10. Just wondering... Read in a different thread about an upcoming 5.6" version of the Cinetronic. Is that too small a screen for a big rig? I seem to recall the Marell crt monitor was close to 5.5"... Will it be to light? If there was a 5.6" version, with a gold mount/vlock mount in the middle of the back, it could double as steadicam monitor and an onboard monitor, depending on how heavy one needed it to be... So what do you guys think? Is 5.6" too little? too light? Thanks Leandro
  11. Hello Thomas, Thansk for the reply. I ll try to check some of those places out. Not sure if you remember, but I worked with you in a shoot near Lisbon, Portugal. AC at the time. Lots of people running around some hills. If you re ever around, drop us a line. Cheers, Leandro
  12. Hello everybody, I'm heading to London in the end of the month, and I'm just wondering if there's some nice place to go for 3/8 camera screws, fischer connectors, lemo connectors, cables, 3m velcro... stuff like that. I live in Lisbon, and everything is at least a FedEx fare away. I'd love to take the opportunity to stack up on assorted steadi/camera goodies. Also, any expo, showroom, worth looking out for? Thank you all in advance! Leandro Silva
  13. Hi Stefano, Eric, and Jess, The search for the above mentioned goodies is on. Thanks a lot for sharing the knowledge. Leandro Silva
  14. Hello all, I live in Lisbon, and camera companies here don´t have much in terms of camera accessories and brackets for use with steadicam. I m talking about low mode brackets, hardmount options and such. Since renting out from abroad can take a few days, and buying everything is just too expensive, I am thinking about haveing some brackets built locally. I finally found a machinist that works alumnium with the precision our work requires. But I couldn t answer his first question: What kind of alumnium? Is there a specific kind of alumnium used in the manufacture of our gear? Also, is there a screw brand that s more adequate than other? Any light on these subjects is deeply apreciated. Thanks in advance, Leandro Silva
  15. Hello Lukas, Thanks a lot for your answer. Do you think that, maybe, the problem lies with the sled? The video sender was powered by the camera, but it could be that it fried when the bnc cable touched the sled's bnc outlet? If that s the case, what could be that caused it? A short circuit? Thanks again Leandro
  16. Hello all, I m using global media pro batteries on a Baer Bel sled. 3 batteries are necessary for 24v power plus monitor and wireless focus. When fully charged, the two batteries that provide power read 32v, or 16v each. I m shooting with an arri 435 es. During prep, a small optex wireless sender got fried (connected only to the camera via RS cable). Rental said it was their own faulty cable. I wonder if the camera is somehow overpowered. The manual states the camera can handle up to 35v power. Could the 32v be too close for comfort? Could I somehow fry accessories connected to the camera? Thanks in advance for your time. Leandro
  17. Hello Brooks. I agree with you, production should be responsible for supplying us with the necessary tools for the job. It just happens that sometimes, these are just not available around here on a short notice. So we try to help... The stuff on Jerry Hill s site just looks great. It s eye candy. I hope I ll have the opportunity to try it sometime.. Steadimags and clip on are already covered. The thing is, we re not sure a video top will be available, so that s why I even considered the sushi server. I fly a Baer Bel. Great, simple, solid built, sled. So far, no power issues with the 435 and high speed filming. Thanks for taking the time to answer! Leandro
  18. Thanks Janice and Rao for the quick and thoughtful answers. And thanks Janice for the kind offer. I m in Lisbon, so, even though we re quiet well equipped as far as camera systems, specialty items are hard to come by. So no LMBs... I guess poor man´s low mode will have to do. I have considered the dedicated LMBs for a while, but oredring stuff from the USA can be expensive (sometimes they go trough customs, and i pay trough the nose, sometimes they re delivered to my house. No idea why). When I waS ready to order the 435 lmb, those were shelved and replaced by reds... now im looking in to gearing up for the red, and all we use is 5Ds. Untill i hit the lottery and get the lot of them, I guess I ll be playing catch up! Thanks again! Leandro
  19. Hello everyone. I have an upcoming shoot with a 435 es. I don t have a dedicated low mode bracket for a 435, but I do have a Baer Bel sushi server. It has been very useful in video shoots (and really good as a 5d all purpose cage), but I haven t tried it yet with the 435. A few questions: Does it even fit? I m not sure if the sushi server is wide enough... If it does fit, has anyone tried it? Is it stable enough to do the job? What about loading mags, isn t it a problem? Thanks in advance!! Leandro Silva
  20. Hello everyone. I m looking for a previously loved Teletest 5.8 GHZ sender / receiver kit. Anyone has one of those they don t use anymore? Thank you for your time. Leandro Silva leandrovazsilva@gmail.com
  21. Hi Nick, Can you figure out how much is the slowest, cheapest mail to Lisbon, Portugal? If freight isn t prohibitive, I ll take it for USD 150! All the best, Leandro
