  1. The monitors will start to ship out beginning of December. We found an error on the HD-sdi board, which required a redesign of the board. We are just waiting for the new boards to come back from manufacturing at this point.
  2. Yes, there has been a delay from the manufacturer of this panel. We will be integrating the same panel into our monitors as well. Of course we will do our normal tweaks to improve the brightness and viewability.
  3. This is really a loaded question, since there are many opinions. A 500 nit transflective screen may be sunlight viewable under the right circumstances. Other screens claim to be sunlight viewable at 800 nits. In the end it all comes down to contrast. The greater the contrast, and the greater the difference between ambient light, the better the view-ability is. A 800 nit screen may be sunlight viewable, but you will have very poor contrast between the bright objects and the dark ones. Things get better in the 1000-1200 nit range, and even better at 1500. Since contrast plays such a big part, starting with a screen that has good contrast, and then making some contrast enhancements make it better. Also if you can knock down the light entering the screen, diminishing the contrast, then you make the screen more viewable. This is why we optically bond our monitors, since it reduces the reflections between the lcd and the protective glass, and increases the contrast.
  4. Hi Rich, We will have a version that still uses the spud, but defeats the ability of the monitor to rotate on the spud. This will ensure that the monitor is always straight to the bracket. Is this what you were looking for?
  5. The telescoping arm with fit any post size, by changing the insert. It is compatible with Cinetronic monitors, or other monitors using and Pro / XCS spud.
  6. We have a new telescoping monitor arm available, and we are looking for a couple operators in the LA area who would like to give it a try. Send me a message if you are interested, and let me know your post size.
  7. We will contact you when it is getting close to delivery, and finalize the order.
  8. Some preliminary pics of the Gen2 monitor. Better photos coming soon.
  9. There are 3 mounting holes on each side, which allow you to shift the weight for and aft. Pictures will be coming soon. I cant remember if we put a voltage sense in or not. I will have to check the schematic and see. The bracket you have obviously nicely balances in the middle of the monitor. Would it be possible to make an offset bracket so one could rotate the monitor with a battery on the back and the CG is central? Is there a voltmeter in there? I love my transvideo voltage readout. As I get to know the setup I can tell that batteries are going down just by glancing at the volts.
  10. Tally light is built in on the Gen2. Forgot to add it to the description on the website...
  11. Still finalizing the weight, but it looks to be right around 2.2lb
  12. We can supply with an AB mount, weight back, or v lock.
  13. The 6.5" Gen1 has 1600 nit. The 7" has 1500, but we may push it to 1600 with the Gen2.
  14. CRT had its day, and was the best for a long time, but technology has advanced. The military is using LCD for all of its displays now, so mil spec CRTs are becoming endangered. OLED is promising, but the technology isnt quite there yet. The OLED blacks are extremely good, but the max you will see for brightness is around 600 nit, and pushing them this hard drastically reduces the life of the panel. Many of the new LCD screens have 88 degree viewing, from all sides, so they are as good as a crt for viewing angles. There are also some interesting developments which are about 6 months out, which will push the LCD technology even further.
  15. Just to clarify for people upgrading. When we take your Gen1 monitor in, we are essentially giving you a $3600 credit on a new monitor. When you upgrade you will be receiving a COMPLETELY NEW monitor! The turn around will be very quick, since the new monitor will be sent upon receipt of the old one. We will not be using any of the Gen1 components in the Gen2 monitor. Everything will be new parts. Since it is a new monitor, you will also get a new 1 year warranty upon receipt of the new monitor as well. Some people have balked at the upgrade price, and hopefully after this explanation, you can understand we are trying to be as fair as possible.
  16. We will not be at Cinec. Maybe one of the owners of a Gen1 will bring theirs to Cinec?
  17. There are a few gen 1 monitors in Germany, and Spain, and one in France I believe.
  18. You can adjust the size of the on screen level to fit. In its smallest size, it will fit above or below the framelines. You will also have the ability to slightly shrink the image, giving you more room for the level. Even with the slightly shrinking the image, to fit the larger bubble level, a 16:9 image will still be larger than 16:9 on the 6.5" monitor.
  19. The level sensor and yoke are separate, the price for the level sensor is reduced for upgrade customers.
  20. Preorders are now available on www.film-stuff.com
  21. The gen 1 monitor yoke will not fit a gen 2. The two monitors differ greatly in size. The level sensor will only work with the Gen 2. There may be a 4:3 option later, but initially only the 7" 16:9 monitor will be available. Turn around time for the upgrade will be 1-2 days, since it will be a straight swap for a new monitor.
  22. Now that the Gen 2 monitor is close to completion, we are offering preorders. Pricing is a follows: New Customers: Gen 2 7" monitor $4999 -Preorder price $4799 Gen 2 Level sensor price $1250 Gen 2 monitor yoke $325 Upgrade Customers: -Option 1 Upgrade from Gen 1 to Gen 2 monitor $1400 -Preorder price $1200 * Requires the return of a functional Gen 1 monitor.
