  3. I was flying the Alexa recently with an HD CamWave and experienced this vertical roll. We tried switching it to 23.98 in the Mon out setting of the Alexa with no luck. The AC ended up dialing in a 29.97 output from the Monitor output and it worked perfectly.
  4. I was on an Alexa feature recently with the same issue. It was the monitor output on the Alexa. The AC switched it to 29.97 in that menu and it fixed it.

  6. Michael- There are many opinions shared on this forum and MK-V has not been left out of the mix. My personal experience with Howard has been a good one. Once he opened up the office in Connecticut (which is his where he now lives) I went to see him. He has an open door policy with operators and is very easy to deal with and extremely helpful. He built my running sled which is a Genesis. The rig has been in service for almost a year and has been a great asset to my operating. Anytime I have a question or a service issue Howard is always willing to help. There are a few operators on the forum who truly dislike MK-V but if they would all take a trip to CT and have a cup of coffee with Howard I think there opinions would change (with or w/o a hot woman in tow.) MK-V builds and services their products with the up most respect to the operators that use them! Brandon
  7. I used my modulus only for a short time after moving to NYC. I had interference not only in the city but in all of the boroughs. I bought an IDX camwave and although it has some latency it was well worth it for picture stability and quality. I never used a modulus again. Now that the HD version has come along it is even stronger with virtually no latency and great picture quality.
  8. As you get more experience, and work on larger jobs, you will find it takes more time to tear off all of the AKS the AC's put on the camera than it does to build and balance your own rig.
  9. When I posted this I did not intend for it to be a slam on Howard. Since he opened up the US office in Connecticut I have been up to see him several times. He has been very helpful to me on all of my upgrades and modifications. I have to say that I am a loyal customer of MK-V. Obviously changes need to be addressed but MK-V builds solid rigs! Thanks to everyone for their input on the actual problem.
  10. Thanks Ron. I had searched the forum and seen topics on this "y" option. I will give a call to Terry West and see what he can do. I talked with Howard at MK-V about this and he was unaware of the issue. Thanks again.
  11. I am using an MK-V Genesis. The last couple of jobs I have done with the RED Camera, when powering directly from my J-Box, the camera has powered down a couple of minutes after booting. I have disconnected all of the accessories trying to troubleshoot a potential cause. Has anyone been experiencing power issues when powering the RED from their sled? 12. This topic was posted 3 years ago but to users that have this issue there are a couple of solutions. I own a provid sled and I love the high contrast crt green screen that was part of the original design of the Provid model. But for HD jobs or when working with a lot of the lens adapters which invert the image I bought a 1.5" monitor bracket that has adjustable Rods. This allowed me to keep the crt for use on sunny days and with film video taps, but have the flexibility to maintain Dynamic Balance with the rig. Another operator in Canada named Jeff cools actually rewired the sled removed the built in crt and repaced it with the same mounting hardware with a 16x9 Marshall HD monitor. One way or another I would suggest keeping the original CRT and buying a monitor bracket (Sachtler Artemis has a good one) unless you work only in HD all the time! Brandon
  13. Mic This looks interesting. However when it comes to wireless video you get what you pay for. After a couple of years of constant interference in NYC with my modulus I replaced it with a more stable and reliable WEVI system. The WEVI works great but there is a 15 frame latency. $1800 for both the TX and RCV which was a great deal, but it came with a cost. On jobs like music video where lip sync is critical 15 frames can really screw with the director. In those situations I have production rent a Cantran. This kind of product you just have to try it before you by it. But it is great that more and more products with lower price points are coming on the market! Hopefully it will get competitive enough that we can all afford a Canatran!!! Brandon
  14. The artemis bracket looks like a good option. It would allow you to keep the high contrast CRT on the sled. A lot of newer operators like to go color especially for HD jobs. But don't forget the green CRT was designed for operators to shoot and see in direct sunlight. It is much more difficult on sunny days to shoot with the LCD even the ones with a ton of nits unless you have a grip that is flagging you. Brandon
