  1. I should note that I mean the receiving end, not the arm side. Bolts included preferably.
  2. I need just the socket block for a big rig arm. I don't typically see small individual items like this in the FS section. If someone has a spare lying around that they'd part with, please message me or email mike@orlandosteadicam.com Thanks!
  3. Oh man. I tried some things back when I had a Flyer LE (so did Brian I think) but NO NO NO I wouldn't put myself in a position to fail like that. Agreeance with Brian. But if you do it, report back.
  4. I agree with Dan, except for studio shows. That's really the only venue where multiple cameras are in such close quarters that talent benefit from differentiating numbers.
  5. I use the AutoScript TallyPlus single digit number for studio shows: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/443227-REG/ For Live Events and concerts, production usually prefers to hide my tally so the audience won't flock to the red light. But in the case of the TallyPlus, you just don't plug in the sensor. For mounting, I made custom brackets to hold it above the lens, above the prompter. If I have to use a shotgun mic as well, I mount that below the lens off the dovetail. As you can see in my photo gallery, the forward weight causes the camera plate to be offset to the rear and leaves room for a short shotgun. http://mikegermond.com/photos/index.php/prompter
  6. That's clearly not a CBS Sports crew member's rig. So many media are credentialed at College and NFL events, and I frequently see team videographers and local news using DSLR's and amatuer rigs. If it were an NBC event, I could probably tell you exactly who the on-field operators are. The poor guy operating this probably wouldn't know production quality if it hit him in the face, and his client doesn't either. I'm certain he's not working for the TV broadcast though.
  7. I had my PRO/XCS sled made to support tally when David Hable did the HD upgrade to the Gen2 electronics. He replaced the Focus LEMO on top and added one at the bottom for a standalone LED cable. He also integrated a tally pin into the monitor LEMO. He even wired up a sensitivity circuit on a potentiometer for me! It works great so far. Can't wait to see what the Live sled is all about too.
  8. I got mine from Howard at MK-V. $175 for the 1/4-20 mount-to-spigot piece.
  9. I just bought a 12" Cinetronic arm for my 2" post. Definitely the best price on a new arm of the "rod style" mount. If you can't find an used arm (which I couldn't either), its probably the best bang for your buck. Plus Chris' customer service was great.
  10. Hi again, Another missing piece to my puzzle. I am looking for a Vest, preferrably of the Ultra or Master variety. I will consider other offers too. Of course I'd love to stumble upon an used PRO vest, but those are never on sale when I'm buying. Thanks and Happy New Year! Mike
  11. Thanks Kevin. I had pondered that route. I'm also looking at the Cinetronics arm. It turns out that their Gen2 monitor yoke might also work with Marshall. Similar dimensions. Still, I'm hoping for an used item.
  12. I'm also looking for a mounting solution for a Marshall monitor with the above bracket. Thanks and happy holidays.
  13. I'm with Paal. I've put it through the paces on daily live work over the last 3 years. I use it on a Canon HJ11ex4.7 digital wide angle lens that has both zoom and focus servos. I like the green Rec Start/Stop button, I program my digital lenses to use it for Return Video on tethered shows. I've also used it on Canon and Fuji lenses WITHOUT a focus servo, and my analog BFD works great. It's handy to have that analog BFD around!
  14. I'm looking for an XCS monitor bracket for a 2" post. Or any monitor bracket that fits a 2" post for that matter. I prefer the dual rods design. Thanks!
  15. Do you mean the "open in external page" dialog when opening a topic? That bugs me too. I wish this forum used Tapatalk. That's the best app for mobile forum browsing
  16. Do you have the IPS Communities app? That's what I use to access the forums and it works great so far. The new app was pushed out when the web interface was revamped.
  17. My experience with the Tango soft-mounted on a vehicle (hands free Segway in my situation) is that the inertia of the fully extended boom can steer YOU on quick vehicle changes in direction. And I agree with the other points above. Let us know if you try it and how it goes!
  18. I'm not privvy to all of the details. If I had to make an educated guess I'd say $40k-$50k. All employees get medical/dental, 401k, NBC stock discount, paid time off, and other perks. I do get a say in who they hire, and I'd like to help someone from the community if possible.
  19. Hey all, We have an opening down here at Golf Channel for a 40hr/wk Steadicam operator to back-fill me. We're looking for a skilled broadcast operator, not looking to train somebody up. There might be a position for a newbie operator early in 2013 however. No relocation compensation. This position is hiring immediately. Put my name on the application as a reference and anybody is welcome to contact me with questions. Apply here: 7472BR - Studio Technician - Steadicam
  20. Here are a few reels of mine to get you started. Live TV: Live TV/Event Demo Reel A fun behind-the-scenes video I did with GoPro cameras:
  21. Excellent news! But now I'm without my teacher and go-to Tiffen rep. Is Derek the new guy to call in a panic when the deadline is inevitably several days away? Congratulations none the less!
