According to the manual the monitor out, signal format can be changed in the camera menu.

It smells like there maybe Lisigav involved.

The HDX900 has a built in down-converter. There's a manual switch on the operator's side under the little lid/door, HD/SDI/VBS. The switch needs to be in the VBS position. And, if I can remember correctly you can only get it from the VIDEO OUT in the back of the camera. Have FUN!
