  1. Its always sad to see whenever a technician dies while working or under any other circumstances. What i find to be sadder is if you look at the way yahoo! reported it yesterday. They made it out like it was a relief that none of the talent was hurt or even there. Really like those of us that actually make a film aren't worth anything as comparted to the 'talent.'
  2. I had read a pretty good article on dynamic balancing a rig on steadicam-ops.com http://www.steadicam-ops.com/docs/dynamicPrimer.pdf. By Jerry Holway. In the article Jerry talks briefly about a DB Calculator that can be used on a palm pilot. I wanted to know if anyone has worked with one or acutally knows where to download or order one. I have used p cam on my palm for a few years and really like it. not always as fast for cross referencing as the paper calcualtors. But really a great tool and I would be really interested in exploring DB software. As my physics isn't the best.
  3. that is quiet a rig. a well timed effort to get the op off the rig and his new counter weight on. film has the best toys.
  4. i've had a tomtom 700 for 2yrs. its great i've updated to software. the interface is great, works well a ton of features. never leave home without it. is great for finding wierd locations and i save locations in my favorites so i can always get back.
  5. Its like many other actions. Its a matter of comfort. For some setups you may have to switch. But its like a boxer being regular or a southpaw or a surfer riding regular of goofy foot. which ever is most comfertable should be your standard.
  6. I just watched it the other night. I would say thats its 2 shots they used the hole in order to put the 2 shots together.
  7. I wanted to know some of your guys thoughts on golf cart, mules and rigging pickup trucks. I was planing on getting a quad cab pickup up having some speedrail caged around it. then having it so i could put a seated rig off the back, either side and the front. but i'm not sure if i would just be better off going with a mule or a golf cart and rigging them with speed rail. beefing up the altinator adding a marine battery. i know the mule will be faster and able to run longer and carry more weight. but is the electric motor going to get on more sets since you may be able to actually run on shots with sound? i'm in ny. i know this is kind of broad, but any feedback would be great. I have a local fabricator that i'm working with on designing and building a rickshaw. so some grips may be my silent runners for me to start.
