  1. Mike, I've road a i2 (thats the smaller unit) the sound is super quiet, but on a soundstage I'm sure a sound guy may give you a look. the i2 is 19x25 105lbs the x2 is 21x33 120lbs they make loading ramps. The other solution is a seghauler which is $300+ and it plugs into your tow hitch. as for the cost they are around $20k I'm looking seriously at the x2 i think i would like the options of going on the beach, rough ground and taking curbs. if it rents and works enough then i'd look at the i2. The i2 would be way more stage friendly and was build to make it through doorways. I've seen video of the x2 taking 15+ stairs. But thats with handlebars. I would say a curb is about as daring as one should even build up to. They are build to be able to work in weather, puddles, snow.
  2. Its funny Reinhart told me it was just a reprogram from the remote. And then said the you would be the guy to refer questions to. Yeah I'm thinking of taking the plunge. Going to a dealership today. I also thinking able getting larger wheels made to increase speed. And would have to come up with a way to raise the fenders on Reinharts to give the wheels space.
  3. Chris, On the 2nd gen segway's you can self program from the remote. Is that where the steering function has been tweaked or is is something further than that. I'd alo like to know what you think about the hardmount Reinhart produces. I don't know about your experience with the klassen hardmount. But Reinhart's seems to be way more adjustable and he claims a 46kg max load. Walters is very fixed, but like most of his stuff looks to be able to support a house. I prefer being able to make adjustments. But with 46kg max if one was fully loaded and were to be shooting in a ruff area I'm a bit concerned that the forum would be getting some wonderful photos of bits of gear smashed on the ground and me crying.
  4. Thanks Chris, Also in looking at how the system works. I see that you can adjust the saddles in and out for size. But that the handsfree control has an adjusting knob for playing with the the rigs influence on the segway. How much do these knob adjustments effect the setup. Is it fine tuning or a gross adjustment. Have you found that you've had to use it much?
  5. I have seen alot of footage and photo's of the Ops with the pedal version wearing both from and backmounted vests. But I have not seen anyone operating the new x2 style control with a vest on. just wonder who has and what they though about it. Hardmount is the ideal i guess unless you are doing step ons and offs. But wasn't sure how the leaning to turn would effect operating while in a vest.
  6. I just wanted to give everyone an update as to my situation with Rathbone. I'm happy to say that I finally recieved my order. It looks as though Ron is turing things around and he is able to fill new purchase orders without to much of an issue. Just check with him on the turn around. Any email I've sent over the last month has been answered within 24hrs or less. Ron seems to be getting a grip on things and has been good to deal with. You still get a life story but product is shipping. As for rebuilds I think he's still setting up shop in his new building. So now I have 14 batteries and 3 quad charges I'm selling 4 of them and a charger check my ad. photos will be up shortly. The 4 forsale are from batteries 4 broadcast. And were used on one show for 2 days.
  7. Brand New Batteries I bought 3 weeks ago from Batteries 4 Broadcast for $1300-. Used them to power acc's on a job, 2 of the batteries were not even used. I finally got my order from another retailer and don't need these units. (4) 90wh vmount batteries and a quad vmount charger which can charge any vmount battery. asking $1000- firm plus buyer pays shipping and any taxes or duties. I'll post photo's when I get a chance.
  8. has anyone flown one of these? I imagine its like a varicam when it comes to mounting? 4 pin power and I know it has a build in downconverter so no tricks to video and power. Just wanted to get the skinny from anyone who has flown one.
  9. Last buyer fell through. Rig still available.
  10. Very interesting. Its cool to see how small the unit really is without the backpack. The unit shown is also 2 generations old. Its got to cost a ton though. You can see that you could hard mount off the unit from where they had the weightplates. One day maybe in another 15years.
  11. I am still having issues with these guys too. I place an order in early April for new batteries. Still have no product. No one has responded to my countless emails and phone calls (including Ron's cell phone). I've send letters, even contacted the local Mayor's Office and Police Chief. I've sent a letter to his accountant. Right now I'm in the process of trying to find a lawyer to file and represent me in small claims. I don't have to ability to just throw away $2700-. Lesson learned.

  13. Thanks for the Support Alan, Sorry it caused you pain... Just think of it as sympathy pain.
  14. As a guy who's worked as a grip, operated, rigged to and been party to most things crane. I'll say talk to your key and crane op see what they have to say. Find out their experience. Its one of the cooler shots to do but also a potential for any number of danger situations. If you can have a handle or a safety line go for it. Find out what type of crane. If they say "tulip" just say no! It has to small a footprint and your asking for trouble.
  15. Alec, You are a voice of reason. Those guys on the west coast have those fancy carts and umbrellas with drink holders it makes a guy all big eyed. Thinking about the nightmare locations i've shot to many times to admit in the city. Honestly to many productions have no idea what 20 people and film gear really is. "Oh this one bedroom 5th floor spiralling staircase with the 3x3 broken elevator will be perfect" I do like the jr filmtools cart and having one hard case made with draws, handle and wheels could work. I like the idea of being able to lock a few things up. There can be sticky hands on a set. Does anyone know if the murphy cart shown in the beggining of this forum is still around? Its the upright cart like a sound guy usually totes.
  16. Does anyone know of guys on the east coast that make custom cases like Rob's or Erwin's? or is it just one of those specialties that can only survive in cali? I've been thinking more and more about getting a cart made up like their's. I'll likely go with a backstage because of the ability to break it down for shipping. I'm building my package up and figure why not just get the custom cases upfront instead of buying a bunch more pelicans and then spending the money again one day on the custom ones.
  17. check out the post ron has placed on another forum about his company's "situation" http://community.broadcastengineering.com/forums/t/2669.aspx He writes over and over new orders will be processed and shipped without to much of an issue... well its been almost 6 weeks. if thats not a problem i wonder what he sees as a problem?
  18. Looks like the guy who was going to ride with me dropped out. The offer is still good for anyone who would like to catch a ride with me. it'll save us both some money. I've got plenty of room in my wagon for bags, gear or whatever one would bring. pm me if your interested.
  19. 143 Old Huff Hollow Rd Newport, TN 37821 that is the address they are using now. its on my invoice, one or two or the five websites they seem to maintain. its about a mile away from the "old" danridge address.
  20. if there are alot of windows in the hall i would suggest using a pocket par. otherwise if the walls aren't to dark you can probably get away with the overhead lights or a kino. Do I know you Andy? did you go to school in florida
