  8. Kurt, First of all, welcome! Not sure about the frying issues you've seen, but the two cables you need are below. Abel Cine Tech should have these in stock. Canon DR-E6 DC Coupler Switronix XP-DSLR-C Power Tap (Mfr # XP-DSLR-C) I've sent a few of these units to Terry West to shorten into the perfect length and he's done an incredible job. -Brandon
  9. Mika, is your rig still for sale? If so, I'd love to check it out. Are you located in LA? Thanks, Brandon
  10. their online shop is open.... http://shop.artemis-hd.com/en/Brackets/2/?cur=2 Thanks, George at GPI provided one of his plates that lined up perfectly!
  11. I'm looking for a dovetail plate for the Sachtler Artemis. PM me if you have one you would be interested in selling. I could even be interested in renting if you'd prefer to hold on to it. Thanks! -Brandon
  12. I find it helps if you have a short lightweight BNC cable connected to the camera and ran to the gimbal (and taped on) with a barrel on the end. Then run another lightweight BNC cable from your gimbal along your arm (one small piece of tape on each arm segment) and attach it to the back of your vest with a velcro strap. This will allow whomever is wrangling cable to simply attach and detach away from the camera and also helps with balancing. The other plus is that you can now dock your rig, disconnect the BNC at the gimbal and your free to roam around the cabin... Someone else might know of another trick though.
  13. The Flyer should be able to hold an SR2 or 3 depending on lens choice, like super speeds with a Bartech/M-One motor and LMB5 matte box. I've flown a Red on my Flyer (with super speeds and the same accs) and while it almost maxes out the arm it is still workable. Granted you have to power the camera from the sled and get rid of a few luxury items...I'd recommend a bigger rig, but it is possible.
  14. I've called Tiffen the past two days and I can't seem to get in touch with anyone. I'm wondering if anyone knows if the CP low mode cage will work with the Flyer. I've never shot in low mode. Anyone out there with any experience/advice about Flyer in low mode? Also, I'm having a little difficulty figuring out how to mount the M-One motor for my bartech. Is there a flyer-compatible dovetail w/ iris rods? Thanks, Brandon
  15. Sure, I'll take it! I wonder if my Flyer can support the weight? Oh, they want a "real" steadicam...?
  16. Wow, the trailer looks fantastic! I'll definitely be there on Saturday.
  17. Jess, I'm planning on attending. Carpooling could save us both a little. When are you wanting to leave and return? I was thinking of either staying one night or just driving early in the morning and back that same night. Let me know.
  18. I just got the book in the mail at work. Wow is it hard to get back to work. Maybe just one more page... Amazing book. I don't even own a steadicam (yet) but I'd recommend it to anyone.
  19. I just placed an order too. I can't wait to get it in the mail. Finally some steadicam reading material (although this forum's been amazing)!
  20. So...Betz sells Tiffen and PRO gear as well as their own? On the Betz website they have everything listed from a PRO sled, arm, and vest to Tiffen's Ultra 2, Flyer, Pilot, etc. I'm confused.
  21. Robert, Thanks for the quick reply. I'll try and adjust a few things for tomorrow, but it's helpful to know that the "problems" may just be inherent in a rented vest. -Brandon
  22. I'm on my first gig as a steadicam operator flying a rented Glidecam V-25 with an HVX, Redrock adapter, and a set of primes. I finished a 12 hour day mostly in the gear. When I got home I noticed a red spot on both hip bones where the vest was digging in. I didn't notice any pain while shooting, but now it's a little sore. I'm pretty sure the issue is that the vest isn't fitted for me properly. Should the vest rest on your hips? It feels right when I'm operating, but it does dig in a little. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. We still have one more day of filming... Thanks, Brandon Zachary
  23. Mike, I'm not about to give advice on what to purchase, however I will tell you what everyone has been telling me: Do not make a purchase until you've taken a workshop. This is for two reasons. 1) You may realize it's not for you. 2) You will have a better understanding of which rig fits your needs. Also, to get in touch with Chris send him a message through the forum. All The Best, Brandon
