Hi Matt, welcome. This forum has been around for many years, take the time to read as many posts as possible and you’ll find answers to this and many other question. It usually starts with taking a workshop. It sounds like you did a workshop for small size sleds. That’s a good start but the world of ‘big’ rigs is quite a big jump from the smaller ones. Start with the archives of this forum. Take your time so you don’t regret purchasing a set up that wont work for you.

Hey guys and girls.

What information do I need to know when considering a purchase of equipment abroad with the intent to ship into the US? Taxes, fees, insurance, shipping, anything else I’m not aware of.

From what I understand, equipment is duty free if it was made in the US, but if the package is shipped with a commercial courier they may charge a customs paperwork fee. What if there are mixed US and European components, does that change things?

I don’t understand the VAT tax but it seems like most European countries have them. Am I responsible to pay VAT as a buyer even if it is not stated by the seller? Are there export fees for the seller that may be added to the price?

There has been a huge interest since posting this package deal. Most of the questions are; does everything work and why are you selling all of this for so cheap? Yes, everything works as described. After piecing together my own system, this is what I had left over. I’ve had a lot of interest in selling them as two separate units. Next week I’m going to restructure and divide everything into two separate systems. In the meantime, make me a reasonable offer for everything. Stay tuned.

Hope you’re having a great year so for. For most of you Tax season is in the rear view mirror and I’m sure you are all happy that April is over. For me, unfortunately, it’s still something I have to tackle. The tax “professional” I’ve been using has disappeared. I had to get an extension.

I have an HU2 with an Omnishot battery adapter. When I plug the Micro force V+F zoom control in and power up the hand unit, the low battery light just blinks really fast and is not operational. If I plug the zoom control in after powering up the HU2, it works just fine.

It’s definitely an omnishot adapter issue. When I use the stock Preston batteries everything works as it should.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is it ok to be plugging cables in while the unit is powered up like that?
