  1. I have a pair of analog Bartechs(transmitter s, receivers, lots of cables, antennas, dog bones, adapters) that I bought used 11 years ago. We can all attest to Jim Bartell’s engineering and customer service. Since they are backups, they are very rarely used, but are in great shape. The motors(a pair of M-Ones) on the other hand, are a mess. They are currently in London and it’s unclear when, if ever, they will clear customs, how long the repair will take and whether they are worth repairing. I’m wondering whether I should buy more analog motors or sell these systems and go digital? Thoughts?

  3. Thanks a lot, Eric. Is that the cheapest way to go from a fiber connector to a BNC connector on the camera, so that I can have a very thin Mogami cable coming off the camera?
  4. Hey Everyone, I am interested to know if anyone has found a cheap way to go from thick fiber optic cable to very thin, a la Triax to Coax adaptors? I've made a cursory investigation and found very little in the way of cheap adaptors and cables. Any ideas? Thanks, Mark Sparrough
  5. Thanks a lot Jamie and Afton. I have changed my username, so there shouldn't be any problem. As for the arm, could the screw have been put in on an angle? It looks a little cock-eyed. Just to make sure, the arm should normally float the camera in the middle of the boom range, right? I shouldn't have to put any pressure on the arm to get the camera to stay in the middle of the arms range if I have adjusted the screws on the arm correctly. Please get back to me. Thanks again, -Mark Sparrough
  6. Dear Edwin, I got your message and tried to change my username. For the record, my name is Mark Sparrough. However, the link that you sent me to didn't work and now it says that I have changed my username and cannot do it again, yet I cannot get back on the forum. Help. Thanks, Mark
  7. Hello Everyone, I'm having trouble with my new Ultra 1 arm. I bought the last brand new Ultra 1 system that Tiffen had. I got it last week and have been having a really hard time getting it to float next to me. It wants to jump up over my head. It is incredibly difficult to twist the two adjustment knobs. I set up the rig every day and get ready to practice and when the sled is on I still can't loosen the knobs. This means that I have to put an inordinate amount of pressure on the arm to boom down. Any ideas as to what may be going wrong. This has been a problem ever since I got the system. Any input would be very appreciated. Thanks, Mark
